Psytrance clubs....what's that all about then?

Quote: "This is not a scene you are involved/clued up about".

I am a DJ and sound engineer by trade you prize donut, lol.

so fuck? if you were a lorry driver would you claim to be involved in illegal drag racing?

you are in no way involved in the psy squat scene are you? just answer the question straight.

illegal events are a different world to club nights, 2 or 3 of the main promoters in the illegal psytrance squat party scene have had trouble with gangs holding up entire parties within the past couple of years.

you are a either victim of being thick and things completely over your head or a master of deliberately misunderstanding things to make yourself the centre of attention.

I dont dj or never have at those type of events but I no people that run things in that kind of field for sure, but it wouldnt be the genre of music your talking about because I dont think people listen to that kind of music in London.

Erm on a serious note, yes I no one or two people that are event organisers, ones quite well known in the South West London area around Wandsworth. If you saw the BBC drugs series about MDMA then the venue where that boy was filmed for the programme, A friend of a friend does parties there from time to time for sure.

I dont make a habit of going to those type of places though, but I have been known to wander by in passing from time to time.

well you obviously don't know shit then because there are a few regular events organised by a few separate promoters :)

so not only were you not connected with the scene you weren't aware of its existence =D

you are just a small fish in a big pond dee dee it's ok not to know everyone with a rig in london (that is what you may know as a "sound system" as it is colloquially referred to in the free party scene)/

Well, maybe the type of places I go to wouldnt play Psy Trance, its always a possiblity?

Whats with all this connections buisness, does it bother you that much, your always mentioning it. Seems to be your issue, not mine.

dee dee, the whole thread is about psytrance, the conversation you joined in was about the psytrance squat scene in london.

i am not in the least connected, you just couldn't seem to let you ego believe there was a scene you didn't know about. or you have an iq of less than 60, I genuinely can't tell which.

I agree, but then you went off on a tangent about squat parties in general so i joined in. Theres no more trouble in London than anywhere else to my knowledge, you run the risk of all the problems that come with illegal events anywhere and everywhere regardless of the music being played.

Theres really not much else to say on the matter.

so you believe that there has been gun crime problems now within this scene?

and that unlicensed venues and illegal parties don't require guards that are also trained medics?

In London not that im aware of, but then I dont no everything as you so clearly keep reminding everybody, lol.

Do you not get crime in Bristol or anywhere else? Man they cant even leave someones shop alone without vandalising private property, dont get me started on peoples behaviour. Lmfao.

Sorry if I've come across as harsh I think there may have been a case of crossed wires at some point.

There's guns in bristol just not many compared to london and the free party scene is almost violent crime free

Well in the 24 years ive been partying in London ive never run into trouble, not once have I been a victim of crime.

I guess if your looking for trouble, you will find it, because I have not, and ive hung out in what people would believe to be some pretty rough and dodgy places in my time I can tell you, and on my own occasionally to without a care in the world.

Never say never, but so far so good. :)

Whats the location of these disgraceful parties in London then Safrolette?

All the well known ones are well known and tend to crop up in the same buildings and locations.

I don't really know, Dee Dee... I think the one of which I saw the tons of negative feedback on a psy-trance forum was a psy-trance squat (or semi-legal) party.
My guess is that the 'wrong crowd' decided that all those old hippies ;) and middle-class kids hooked on 'Skins' are easy pickings, apparently there were a lot of muggings - or attempted ones- going on. Can you imagine what a nightmare being there :(

Interesting question here. There may be more than one reason:

1) Psy-trance, apart from those disgraceful London squat parties and maybe a few other exceptions, tends to attract a nicely mixed, civilized, peaceful and mature crowd. Which can't always be said about grime, dubstep and D&B.

2) Mature and responsible crowd = less casualties (fingers crossed on this one). There is security staff at the venues, but not of the type who stares if you do as much as putting a hand in your pocket.

3) The best, small scale events are not too widely publicized. Yes, they are advertised on FB and on specialist forums, but not on the front page of, say, DSI. Although I've noticed that a few nights have been mentioned in previous posts, I personally wouldn't name them on here.

Hope you enjoy your psy-trance night, Nomy, chai-tea and everything ;)... Leave some feedback in this thread if you have time :)

Why thank you Safrolette. I was wondering if my thread had been hijacked, so thanks for bringing it back on track, all be it very briefly 8)

I will report back you can bet on that. If anyone is interested in joining me btw, then pm me for the details. It's in the North Midlands is all I will say here ;)

All i can say is that i have never felt safer than at a psytrance night, and i've never been to a psytrance night with security.

All the scariest nights I've been to have had scary security guards at the door and throughout the venue. Maybe they needed them (which is even scarier to think of) and maybe they didn't, but either way the vibe was nastier than a psytrance event ever gets, in my experience.

Maybe I've just been lucky, never personally encountered violence at any of the clubs, free parties or illegal parties or whatever you want to call them that i've been to, but i can say for sure that i've felt safest at the psytrance like events, be it in fields, abandoned factories, warehouses or whatever and non of them had any security.

i used to go to a couple of psytrance clubs and they were pretty good nights but the crowd changed from a friendly, age variable chilled sort to a bunch of nasty little scallies with glosticks and bad attitudes-i may have just been unlucky, here in nz its very much people of an alternative disposition who are the main punters

Does the arches no sell fucking hot-dogs?

Hahahaha. No.

cup o' chai when you're tripping is v nice i must admit, i prefer being surrounded by pretty girls in fairy wings to a load of sweaty jock blokes with their shirts of shouting "HERE WE HERE WE FUCKING GO!" throwing pints of tennents over each other and rucking outside tbh

There's nothing worse than cunts with the taps aff shouting "HERE WE FUCKING GO!", I can't stand those pricks. Luckily the nights I go to tend not to have many of those idiots although you do inevitably get a few at the bigger nights.

I've not read the full thread, but the nights I've been to have been really friendly, with no wankerish behaviour exhibited by anyone. Again, I'll echo the age thing. Lots of older, friendly looking hippy types, and no one giving you funny looks, whilst you try and chew your eyebrows. The music is OK, that's about all I can say about that. You'll have a good time, though. Just the decorations are nice to stare at for a bit, then there's ladies with nice bright clothing, bouncing about. I'm going to Illuminaughty, in Manchester, for my mate's birthday, next month. Should be a good night.

Thanks. There's reassuring a pattern of consistency going off here isn't there? I can't wait I can tell ya. It's my normal 3 monthly hedonistic allowance.

Damned shame about Illiminaughty though. That was my plan. Unfortunately it's a long way from Norfolk, but I was going to meet up with some folks there anyway. That is until we started pricing up hotels. The best I could find was a Premier Inn who would put three of us up in a twin, with one of us on a fold out. Turns out that Man U play Chelsea or something that day, so everywhere was booked. Fukin football. Just proves the point about Man U fans coming from everywhere.

So yeah, a pity about that. Especially now I find out you could have been my first BL meet :) Anyhow, I've found a much smaller venue instead...just hope it's OK. The next Illuminaughty gig there is, I will be there!
