Fizzacyst - you were lucky you didn't get Raja - he usually just cocks up their gigs. Shpongle don't do live band shows but the Younger Brother full band gives Floyd a run for their money.
I saw both Shpongle & Younger Brother play at the Glade festival about a month ago.
The Shpongle set consisted of Simon doing a DJ set of their tunes, with Raja decked out in a flourescent orange baseball cap clowning around beside him. As far as I could tell Raja wasn't actually contributing anything musical, but the sheer presence & ecstatic glee with which he was leaping around like a hyperactive child on stage was a sight to behold & made the whole performance a delight from start to finish. I've never seen Simon Posford look as thrilled to be performing as he was then - he was evidently having the time of his life, although there's another well-documented reason for that that I won't go into here...

The set was a lot more dancefloor-orientated than I was expecting & was one of the definite highlights of the festival for me. At the precise moment that the first notes of
Dorset Perception jingled out, the whole crowd when wild, & I knew that I was in for a treat.
Younger Brother on the other hand were, I have to admit, a slight disappointment. They played as the full band line-up, but there just seemed to be something lacking. In fairness I only saw the last half hour or so, but the overwhelming majority of what I saw them play was the new material. It just didn't do it for me as much as that from
A Flock Of Bleeps, & left me feeling underwhelmed. It's an interesting change of direction that they've taken though, opening up the possibilities for them immensely, & on another day my perception of it may well have been completely different.

Benji Vaughan (Prometheus) played right before Shpongle - what an amazing 3 hours that was!
