^ Those guys spin around my part often (the audiognome collective). There are indeed some good sets there. A few of the DJs are worth the drive out to the boonies for a psy party as well.

Yeah, they are regulars at a few psy hotspots over the middle to eastern US... mostly the central portion I guess.

Listening to Shadow FX's debut release, Direct Influence . It's fucking great. Groovy, earthy Zenon prog. A bit reminiscent of Tetrameth at times. I highly recommend it.

^I think my favorite Zenon artist is Autonomech these days, killler songs. Are you going to Phonoscope, its not for while- but Perfect Stranger be playing, should be awesome, last year was....

^Can you guys advise me some good US psy? I only listen to me aussie stuff and european trance.

do you like an assortment of stuff, or things that tilt more in the dark/progressive/morning/psydub, etc genres?

Fizzacyst - you were lucky you didn't get Raja - he usually just cocks up their gigs. Shpongle don't do live band shows but the Younger Brother full band gives Floyd a run for their money.

Well, I heard he has some kind of problem with the US and won't show up here anyway.

Whatever the case, I think any alteration to the performance could only have been detrimental. With Posford doing both Shpongle and Hallucinogen it let him have more control, and build and build on the Shpongle and make a perfect transition to the live set, with a bit of back and forth between shpongle/hallucinogen before it went into the crazy wall of sound twisted psytrance. I think that would have been harder to pull off with another dude twisting knobs and fluting in his ear.

I hope to see Prometheus and Younger Brother live at some point, particularly YB.

Its worth it. If they play with 12 hours of me and I had the time/money, I would seriously consider it. I got lucky and podford played a stone's throw away. Great music all around actually, lots of small live acts.

You should have come to see posford, in AR. .. surely worth the drive.

I saw both Shpongle & Younger Brother play at the Glade festival about a month ago.

The Shpongle set consisted of Simon doing a DJ set of their tunes, with Raja decked out in a flourescent orange baseball cap clowning around beside him. As far as I could tell Raja wasn't actually contributing anything musical, but the sheer presence & ecstatic glee with which he was leaping around like a hyperactive child on stage was a sight to behold & made the whole performance a delight from start to finish. I've never seen Simon Posford look as thrilled to be performing as he was then - he was evidently having the time of his life, although there's another well-documented reason for that that I won't go into here...;) The set was a lot more dancefloor-orientated than I was expecting & was one of the definite highlights of the festival for me. At the precise moment that the first notes of Dorset Perception jingled out, the whole crowd when wild, & I knew that I was in for a treat.

Younger Brother on the other hand were, I have to admit, a slight disappointment. They played as the full band line-up, but there just seemed to be something lacking. In fairness I only saw the last half hour or so, but the overwhelming majority of what I saw them play was the new material. It just didn't do it for me as much as that from A Flock Of Bleeps, & left me feeling underwhelmed. It's an interesting change of direction that they've taken though, opening up the possibilities for them immensely, & on another day my perception of it may well have been completely different.

i would give anything to see prometheus or hallucinogen live!!

Benji Vaughan (Prometheus) played right before Shpongle - what an amazing 3 hours that was! =D

I checked out Younger Brother and Hallucinogen at Earthcore several years ago, Shpongle a year later- slightly underwhelmed. Pinhole start I'm curious what this means "although there's another well-documented reason for that that I won't go into here"...;) intriguing. Raja Ram is a great showman, its kinda like- yeah, are you doing anything up there old chap, except flailing around and plucking sounds from the ether- ah fuckit, this is nuts. 1200mics full band is great I reckon.

A bit of all really- dark eveilness doesn't do much for me, though I love the Nommos, Sacage Scream and others....more into nice morning grooves, progressive, general nice psy, trippy with melody.

Anyways I been listening to Space Tribe and Friends- Kaleidoscopic Vision, and besides them having stole the front cover from a dmt vision of mine :), the album is very good- great tracks from Space tribe of course, ESP, Luke Psywalker, Sirius Issness. Good shit.
