^Can you guys advise me some good US psy? I only listen to me aussie stuff and european trance.

Shapestatics new album is FUCKING STUNNING, super crisp mastering, and glitched out sounds.
here is their myspace

Be sure to check out the tracks here as it gives you a good idea of their sound (which is damn unique for psytrance), and they put on a wicked live set. Its one of the most original psy acts ive heard/seen in ages, plus the guys behind it are wonderful people.

also check out Fractal Cowboys/Dylalien/Quasar for west coast insanity, as well as Mubali, all great US psytrance.

I checked out Younger Brother and Hallucinogen at Earthcore several years ago, Shpongle a year later- slightly underwhelmed. Pinhole start I'm curious what this means "although there's another well-documented reason for that that I won't go into here"...;) intriguing. Raja Ram is a great showman, its kinda like- yeah, are you doing anything up there old chap, except flailing around and plucking sounds from the ether- ah fuckit, this is nuts. 1200mics full band is great I reckon.

Posford received head during the set - wrongcore.

Raja Ram is a useless tit - only he turned up for a Shpongle set at Glastobury and he fucked up half the mixes.

Younger Brother were incredible at Glade - a taste of the 60s and simply sublime. I think the trick was not to expect anything like their recorded stuff, spark up and just relax and enjoy letting it all wash over you. One of the best sets of the festival.

Hallucinogen's set at Ozora was the best I've seen him play for a while...

"Posford received head during the set - wrongcore".

Yeah, apparently he is a big fan of kinky sex. Still- worngcore.

edit: isn't he married?

Really enjoying stuff by Talp, Angry Dwarf, basically sundance crew. Awesome Vibraspirit II cd....also loving Salakavala- Fractal Fishing and Behind Blue Eyes self titled. I don't know if its just me, but I notice that BBE cannot mix kick and bass sounds properly, they constantly get phase cancellation down low. I like their music, I just don't understand how they didn't hear the fucked up basslines. I've noticed it with Beat Bizarre too, its the rene` guy I'm sure.

I tell you what I hate- YSE compilations. I have a friend that thinks they are just great (I tell him I could make him 10000000000000x better comps then those ripoff merchants)- I fucking hate the way they wont let prog songs stay at their original tempo, everything has to be aimed staright for the club. Sucky.

I was also VERY disappointed to see that JB-HiFi are selling Shadow FX's first album for $36!! Ridiculous, I'd like to see how much james actually gets. That reminds me Suess, Orthodoxy was about the same from there....I guess your album would have been an import which may explain the price, but Shadow FX is from Melbourne... Its sad, because while I'll get the album, I worry that hardly any of the cash will go the artist.

Benji Vaughan (Prometheus) played right before Shpongle - what an amazing 3 hours that was! =D

Fat sets. Couldn't really stomp in the mud though!

Me and everyone around me seemed to manage fine. Derango and Jirzig in the lightning were mindfucking.

suomi rules!!!!! check out the various artist no possible soundz

willow11 - man, i agree about the new(est) BBE album. Their stuff before that is mixed down much better, with a fuller sound. I was a little dissapointed with the self-titled.

^Yeahs its got an atmosphere I really like, with some eerie sort of sounds- but its kind of thin, as if they couldn't really be fucked putting any effort into the album. Songs are kind of throwaway- I especially get tired of songs that start with the kick. Progress god damn you!! But the way the kick drum is getting lost- that is the fundamental of psy/progressive trance. It just shows laziness to me. Still its a goodish album- but ATM I'm going through a 'fullon' stage- what with the weather starting to finally urge me outdoors- and Space Tribe & Friends is splendid.

Stomp, writhe, convulse, throw yourself on your knees before the mighty 4 armed ganesha, its all the same...

There is a finesse to dancing in the slop, you've just got to find your mudgroove! :D

Ta to whoever recommended Haltya, it's like John Shaft got abducted by aliens and they decided to have a sesh on the decks! =D

^Plus free warpaint for all (mud).

Absolutely loving ShadowFX debut, awesome progressive madness from Zenon. IMO, much better then sensient and even krumeler...perfect minimal, glitchy sounds but full and expansive- not minimal at all really. Alkhemist is a great song....we adapt we survive woo. Did anyone notice that the artwork is recommended to be viewed through the 'steroscopic' lense off Tools 10,000 days album? Strange stuff.... Anyway, I'm looking forwrd to earthdance next weekend, Andrew Till, Mantrix and others, should be a great day. Whats happening in other parts of our world?

And then Pitch Black at the Corner for some wonderful psy dub :) Blue skies ahead :):)

kinda cool...i still think i prefer videos of goa beats set to fractals though %)

My music encompasses all forms, it exists on synthesizers which I have built.

P.S I'll be at Earthdance too, can't wait!

Its worth it. If they play with 12 hours of me and I had the time/money, I would seriously consider it. I got lucky and podford played a stone's throw away. Great music all around actually, lots of small live acts.

You should have come to see posford, in AR. .. surely worth the drive.

hello.....hope this finds y'all well. just putting out our feelers for an idea we've had......who likes the idea of coming to amsterdam in november/december for two nights of twisted parties?

friday night would be a small affair with just d.j's, proably simon and benji and some local dutch talent. This would be a raw psy-techno bash with no frills just a dirty little twisted warehouse party!!

saturday night would be held at the paradiso....amsterdams heart in terms of music venues. the line-up would be:

shpongle(not live but hopefully more than a d.j set)
younger brother (full seven piece band like at brixton academy)
hallucinogen live
prometheus live
d.j set to finnish -may be we'll do a vote to decide who we get to d.j

we are wondering whether people would be up for travelling for such an event. Flights to the dam are as little as £40 return from the u.k and its easily reached from all over europe. And for those of you in the U.S i assure you a weekend in amsterdam is something you have to do...imagine you spend the afternoon tasting the worlds finest herbs ,then pop into a smart bar and buy a selection of mind enhancing potions(yes even peyote is legal there) and cruise through car free streets to two nights of twisted records fun.....

its just an idea at the moment.......but .....x

I like the sound of this. =D

^Can you bring Amsterdam down to Australia? That'd be sweet...

Anyway- been really loving ShadowFX- Direct Influence, such smooth, eerie sounds and production. Also been enjoying Dark Nebula's latest, Sacred Scars- you know what to expect really, razor sharp nightime, darktrance, but the most enjoyable of that 'genre' for me.. Other albums of note is Fungus Funk- F-People, which I'm struggling to get into, gotta give it a few more listen. Also trax by Azax Syndrom, Bon, Xatrik, Broken Toy have been reverberating recently through my aural chambers.
