"Electric Hippiez" < Fucking trippy.. i really like the transition from the intro to main body...you did that all on REason3? Did you use keyboards and outside instruments...or are you able to do all that on REason alone?

Very cool. I saved it to my harddrive.

EDIT - you asshole, this song makes me want to go out and buy like a pound of speed and inject some acid into my eyes.

LOL! Thanks man. That's the best remark I have ever gotten about my music. On the reason community board I post to, someone reviewed my song by abstaining from voting on it cause it was too weird for them to understand it...hahahahaha. But yeah, it was all done in reason.

^How can someone use REason and say something is too weird? That guy was an idiot...this is strait mushroom chaos type shit..

"But is was all done in reason"

^No pun intended?

Finder..."Patty 6-String...needs the bass to be brought out a bit, not bassier but so that you can feel it and hear it a bit more. Otherwise, this was a nice track. Very smooth...I wasn't a huge fan of the transition around the 2:12, but as soon as the vocals kicked in the part made sense. I would perhaps work on the dynamic build up of that transitional riff. Maybe start it out tight and quiet and build it up to a jazzy frenzy within the same time period...just an idea. The vocals remind me of the band karate, whom I was very into for a few albums. The jammy part at the 4:30 or so part, between the next vocal, I think could be explored more deeply. It probably feels good and sounds good live I'm sure, but I for one think it has deeper rythmic and tonal potentials. Stick your heads out up and above the rest! But I am a prog-nerd...I was hearing keyboards for sure as well. I dunno if you guys want one, but a keyboard player/synth player might add another dimension.

All in all a cool track. I do like how you share instrumental time with vocal time. Keep at this one. I'd like some surprises in there too...something like a weird series of stop ans starts, as if a d.j. were scratching a record of you or something in that middle section instrumental jammy part. But that is just my opinion...(and I did mention above that I would be drunk ;) )

Most reason users are in it to make trance/dance/etc. type music...but you'd be surprised at all the sub genres of that there seem to be, as well as to reason songs that are folk tunes, death metal, ambient, prog, classical, jazz,...everything really. Reason is a powerful tool if you get really into it.

http://www.soundclick.com/bands/6/normalheightsmusic.htm "Down the Road"

Like 2 lines in the song i got ideas from a Sublime song..>forgot which song it is. Take a listen, and give me some feedback. Just made it.

EDIT - also listen to "Back in the day" ..i also play a djimbe and harmonica in this song. "I play for you" is another good one.

My 3 favorite right now...Actually "i play for you" is prob my top favorite right now.

dex man your "michigan" song is catchy as hell. and sneaky like the dope--doesn't jump out and grab ya but you keep hittin rewind so you can hear it again. maybe its that random gritty punky riff that starts it off. or maybe its just me. heh. anyways i like it.

hey thanks.. i really like that song too.. That's a really old version of it from a couple years ago...i dont have the quality gear i used to....maybe i'll try recording a more recently version.

Yeah Michigan is cool...reminds me of the White Stripes. Get a sexy pale chik to sing and play def leopard style drums...it'd be even cooler if it was a one armed pale sexy chik, but I guess those are like rare Pokemon, few and far between. I love the vocal effects at about 3 mins or so into the track, although I'd work on making the effect less noticable as it sorta sticks out a bit past the rest of the song. It's a subtle change I am talking about, nothing major.

What format do you have this track in besides on the website? Do you still have the original 4 track or whatever it was recorded on? Or at the very least the wav file? I'd love to collab. on a track like this with you. Lemme know.

Cant you just download the mp3 and convert it to wav?

The only "vocal effect" used was reverb. And yes, its a very subtle change i would make, if at all...i like sloppy reverb sometimes. That's a very old song..over 2 years old..though, i still like it. Sorry, no original 4 track...i always made the mistake of merging everything at the end. bleh.

I would like to collaborate too. Sn2 is also very talented...he's such a damn good arranger/sampler/mixing freak..he made a sampled remix of a Velvet underground song that is trippy as shit.

I need R3.0 dammit.

then go to media for like three new MP3z. we're about to get a .com addy soon. a lot more convenient.

this weekend is gonna be a punk rock weekend. we have two shows. Friday is at this dude's how party on OSU's campus and Sat is at the usual Bernie's Distillery. I CAN'T WAIT!

hearing that I sound like the whitestripes means i'm doing something REALLY wrong.

I didn't mean it in a bad way at all, I happen to like them, but if you dislike them that much then...what can I say, but ooopsies.

Axl...do you guys record your shows? You should. That would be cool to hear a show. Have fun at your gigs bro.

Catfish - No problem. I understand where you are comming from. Now you understand where i'm comming from. I hate unoriginality.....it just makes me feel unoriginal to hear that....oh well...got a lot of years ahead. Thanks though.

^^^Dex, almost nothing exists in a void. There's always gonna be points of tangent. Unless you are the one who is destined to change the face of music forever, chances are, at some points you will have been riding the same waves as someone else. I don't think that is bad, I think that is human. That is how we work as a species. Ideas blossum in several hundreds of folks at once, but the ones who get creditted are the ones who are lucky enough to get their stuff heard on mass media. I can't begin to count the times I have heard a bit if a riff or vocal or an idea for a song that was something I had done years back, and now I see something too much like it on mtv or something. It is bound to happen. Originality is in the intent and approach mostly. The notes and rythms are eternal and will always be there, resurfacing time and time again with a different name...

we've recorded once live. and because some famous ska band, The Slackers, were headlining for us. and they recorded us for free.

Very nicely put Catfish. I've actually said something almost identical to that to someone else before....just got caught up in some major ignorance when typing that. Thanks for that.

Axl - i cant believe you guys dont even have a 4 track to record. you should always record your shows...cause you can really analyze them afterwords..which is almost as good as practicing...just another aspect.I used to have a 16 track/8 track simultaneous digi, with a built in cd burner......god that was nice.

^yeah the lead singer/guitarist just bought a four track. I dunno, I have trouble enough getting the bare essentials of being a drummer in a band, much less getting a 4 track.

well not you specifically. Someone in the band should have a friend that can just sit there and do that for you guys...if not, the guitarist could just run over, hit record, run back and go from there....it's worth it man...it's like how football players/baseball players analyze themself on countless hours of videotape.
