so anyways! i'll try this again...
after browsing this thread earlier, it got me thinking about some of my old favorites. i figured i'd show them off.
back in my heavy acid tripping days, i discovered a canadian artist named
darcy watt. i loved his stuff so much that i decided to email him. to my surprise, he actually wrote me back and was incredibly kind and thankful for my compliments. this piece was the one that hooked me. it reminded me of pink floyd's "the wall."
the next piece is by an artist named
derek hess who hails from cleveland, ohio. he's gotten pretty big over the last 8ish years so many people probably either know him or know his work. he does a TON of posters, flyers, cd covers, and has a clothing line. most of his cd/flyer/poster stuff he does is for hardcore bands. he has his own hardcore festival called hessfest which i believe is held in NJ every year. i just missed out on going one year when i was passing through to go to NYC on the same weekend as hessfest. he's incredible.
the next one is
dalek. i don't know what exactly it is, but his work is so unbelievably aesthetically pleasing to me. he's got such a signature style and his work is so fun to look at.
lastly...
paramodel. i'll put a bunch of their pieces up because i love them SO much. it's a japanese duo (yasuhiko hayashi and yusuke nakano) who construct their art out of toy train tracks in rooms, on ponds, bath tubs, empty warehouses, etc. they're work is so fucking unreal. i can't get enough of their stuff. when i eventually own a house, i'd love to have a paramodel room. f'n amazing!
