Unica Zurn had a retrospective in New York this spring. I knew of her a little bit from a course I took a couple years ago. She was Hans Bellmer's lover and associate in France during the 50's and 60's, and moved within the Surrealist circle. She killed herself by leaping from Bellmer's hotel window in 1970. She was also a writer; I have one of her translated pieces coming to me through the inter-library lone system next week

the last piece is Bellmer's drawing of Unica. She modeled for him very often.
