Pharmacy

Found art/assemblage art are my favorites. Joseph Cornell is the best in the field, imo. I have been fortunate enough to see many of his works at museums, and this is one of my favorites.<3

Those pictures never fail to amaze me; the first time I saw them in print (some years ago, I might add) I would've sworn up and down that they were just very well colorized if it wouldn't make me look like a fool.

My personal favorite is the Emir of Bukhara...
 
Oh, stupid me...I saw them some weeks ago (I love the "bigpicture" pictures) but I thought it was nothing special, not knowing these were from 1909/1912

I knew of a few of these pics (I actually posted one taken in Dagestan in the exotic places thread), but never knew they were part of an entire collection, and didn't realize that the colour was actually original from the time they were taken!

Word UP. I love Prokudkin-Gorskii. The Emir above has a particularly sad story btw. Worth reading.

There's another magnificent shot of an Uzbkh jail, somewhere around 1905. He also shot a portrait of Tolstoy when Tolstoy was in his major hippie/off to the commune phase.

All of his work is breath-taking. I've spent hours staring at the details and the faces. His color process has the ability to erase 100 years, a revolution and thousands of miles.
 
Moleskin art gets me all excited and thinking of future possibilities.
I love writing on paper, discovering new hacks and tricks for making your paper journal really useful , functional , AND nice to look at, buying perfect pens in all colors, ahhh...I can go on and on. Anyway I came across this guy when I was browsing http://www.skineart.com [luvvviiiit]...

I do have a moleskin pad lying around somewhere & I hate myself for not picking it up & doodling like I used to. Hand drawn sketches are the type of simple art that I love the most & could trawl through hundreds to admire techniques & people's abilities. There's a fine line between making it look fun & interesting, or making it look like the insane scratchings of a mentally ill patient in a secure hospital =D
