They keep coming out with these stronger doses of bupe, with the 4 and 12mg suboxone strips, etc, when what we actually need is a low dose strip or pill, like .5 that will actually aid in the taper process. If they made a .5 strip the size of a normal 8 or 2mg strip, which I have cut down into pieces as small as 32nd's, you could get to a dose of .016mg's. Now that would be awesome.
Amen! That would just make too much sense I guess!
It's almost like, they still aren't even ready to acknowledge that suboxone is a very difficult drug to completely detox from, because one of the big "selling points" of the drug is that it's so "painless" to get off! Most doctors have no clue about what 8 mgs of suboxone
really is, in terms of potency or equivalency to other opioids...it's a frickin' joke!
This drug is a big money maker, and from my experience with several different doctors and suboxone clinics that prescribe Suboxone, the majority of the consumers
aren't "hardcore addicts" by any means!
To give someone addicted to 40 mgs of hydrocodone a day 16 mgs of buprenorphine is ridiculous! They'll end up suffering far more in the long run! Unless, they know exactly what they're getting into...which I believe most people have no clue!
I know how physically addictive suboxone is, and I make the
informed decision to be on it, because for me...it's the lesser of two evils!
If you're spiraling out of control on opiates and unable to stop, bupe may be a good option for you...but if this is your first go-around with opiate addiction, you owe it to yourself to try a short taper or a quick detox, and that's what any competent doctor would recommend... I'm sorry!
