Piracetam - does it work??

Can any of these cause problems, i have suffered head trauma in the past (motor bike acident at over 150+ km/h)

I would like to regain my memory and my ability to have complex thoughts which were damaged through mdma use.

200-300 mg Caffeine (or 1-2 Ripped Fuels works wonders for the US denizens)
1,000 mg L-Phenylalanine, not the DL
10 mg Deprenyl
2,400 mg piracetam
500 mg choline (bitartrate version)
500 mg centrophenoxine (Lucidril)
5 mg Hydergine
1 snort Vasopressin

thanks

I have only just started using Piracetam a few days ago. At this stage I don't think its done much for cognitive enhancement. Maybe I am too smart to be enhanced ;)

I can definately say it increases the effects of alcohol. In fact, I'm quite drunk right now.

Piracetam alone isn't going to have much effect.

You need a choline supplement. Choline/lecithin and dmae works well. The effect is more pronounced in combination with caffeine.

I prefer aniracetam, as the the half life is shorter. Piracetam/dmae gave me more insomnia then aniracetam/dmae.

As for the question, "does it work?", I give a resounding yes.

I have more input, but it is getting late, so I'll save it for another day.

Use piracetam/centrophenoxine... piracetam/choline is good but piracetam/centrophenoxine seems heaps better.

aniracetam's extremely short half-life makes it less attractive in that multiple dosing at effective doses is needed... can make it even more costly.

Don't use DMAE, its shit. It exerts an apparent cholinergic effect but only by inhibiting choline uptake. Go look for the James South (I think) article on it

What is wrong with DMAE as a supplement to work better VelocideX?

"It exerts an apparent cholinergic effect but only by inhibiting choline uptake."
What if you take it with a choline supplement?
Is it bad in combination with MDMA or something?
Because at the moment i'm only concerned with the health of my neuropharmocology, I can stop later when I want a big night out. After I don't need my brain as much ;)

A quote from that website:
Another reputed effect of DMAE supplementation is a rise in choline and acetylcholine levels and a corresponding increase in memory ability. This is based on the assumption that DMAE is a choline precursor [1] and also crosses the blood brain barrier more effectively than choline itself [9], giving it the ability to reach the brain and then increase brain choline levels. DMAE does consistently increase levels of free choline in the brain and body, but this is not because it is a converted to choline – it is because it competitively inhibits choline kinase and choline oxidase, preventing the metabolism of choline to phosphocholine and betaine [10-12]. As mentioned above, this results in the production of phosphatidyl-DMAE. However, this is not necessarily beneficial, since it replaces phosphatidylcholine, and thus may effectively blunt some of the biological actions of phosphatidylcholine [39].

There is very little evidence that this increase in choline levels leads to a consequent rise in acetylcholine, and given that DMAE competitively inhibits choline transport, there is theoretical basis for an anticholinergic effect [10-11, 13-15]. If anything, this renders DMAE supplementation the equivalent of choline supplementation, since that also increases brain choline levels but generally fails to increase acetylcholine [16]. In an in vitro study, DMAE reduced the synthesis of acetylcholine by inhibiting high affinity choline transport, and the same researchers found no effect of DMAE on acetylcholine levels in vivo in rats [17]. In another study in which a wide range of doses of DMAE was administered to mice, there was no increase in brain acetylcholine levels except an increase in the striatum at the highest dose which appeared to be unrelated to tissue DMAE content [18]
.

Reducing acetylcholine synthesis is the last thing you want to be doing.

In one study, rat pups fed a choline-deficient diet containing DMAE died within 36 hours of birth, supporting the notion that DMAE does not function as an effective choline precursor [37]

Just got myself two blister packs of 800 mgs each =D
Ahhhhh...this is my second time to try this lovely nootropic, and im about to pop an 800 mg dose right now. Maybe another one later.
I totally agree with Big Trancer, btw. :D
Cheers!

800mg? have you had an attack dose yet?

attack was 3200mg, I was dosing 1.6g per day for 6 weeks, combined with 250mg Centrophenoxine and i felt definate improvement in vocabulary [less word salad from heavy smot poking], short term memory, concentration and focus.

Post your nootropic daily menu here! :)

Yeah 800mg is not a lot. But taken every day I notice a difference after about 5-7 days.

I went to order some last week, a 750gm tub for USD19, but the postage was 25! :S I don't suppose anyone knows of any Aussie or Asian suppliers?

Just pay the postage - for the price you're paying, you're definitely getting a decent deal.

And order some Choline from the same site, seeing as it wont change the postage :)

I'm in the process or purchasing a bulk supply of piracetam and have been researching the stuff for quite some time to make sure that I get the right stuff. What I'm wondering is what is the recommended amount of choline suppliment that one should have with the piracetam?

I have read a stack of info that purely states 'suppliment with choline' and never actually gives an approximate figure of how much choline that is. I've noticed on here that some are taking around 500mg/day? Would that be a correct assumption of a proper daily dose?

I'm extremely inexperienced in supplimentation and I dont want to be ingesting stupid amounts of suppliments without checking first. My only intention so far is to try the piracetam coupled with choline and possibly spirulina.

stace.

I've been on 1.6g a day for the last 2 months and noticed a massive change in my short attention span when listening to people.
Also, concentration on any work is better, I can focus on things for hours.
My productivity at work has gone up greatly.

Although, ive been taking a number of vitamins daily for about month now so I cant give all credit to Piracetam.
Also take
1g Vit C daily
100mg milk thistle (i've noticed my slow digestion has improved)
echinacea 200mg
magnesium 100mg

I recover from weekends fairly quickly and I don't get stuck on any emotional rollerocaster rides of any sort.
Daily vitamin intake has definitely improved my daily living, I'll be sticking to this for quite a while now I think.

One other thing on the piracetam, as BT said, I also find myself to get a little impatient at times.

Overal, concentration, focus, short term memory and quick thinking are the main things I have noticed piracetam to have improved.

anyone tied this product: BrainQUICKEN

it doesn't claim to have Piracetam in it, but rather "Proprietary Cognamine (tm) Complex"

INGREDIENTS: What are the ingredients of BrainQUICKEN (Cognamine)?

BrainQUICKEN is the best available combination of safety and efficacy: Just one of the 18 active components, vinpocetine, has been demonstrated to increase short-term memory and reaction speed over 35%. [BT: Emphasis added - vinpocetine is the nootropic in this formulation, not piracetam.]

BrainQUICKEN consists of a select group of compounds proven safe in the food supply over a 10-year period, and BrainQUICKEN does not contain any ephedrine, ephedra, ma huang, yohimbine, or other dangerous stimulants.

Top research and over 60 years of manufacturing experience have combined for the first time to create the most effective and science-driven neural accelerator in existence. Our patent-pending design includes specialized and clinically-tested ingredients such as:

Cobalamin, Niacinamide, Folic Acid, 2-dimethylaminoethanol, Pyridoxine HCL, Pantothenic Acid (Calcium Pantothenate), Proprietary Cognamine™ Complex (including components of: Phosphatidylserine, Choline Bitartrate, Vinpocetine, Salix Alba, Thioctic Acid, L-Tyrosine, Ciwujia, and other synergistic compounds)

[Edit: Ingredients included. BT]
