You can do without bass guitar though it does sound empty at points. Just go trap stylez, tune your kick drum

The Doors didn't have a bass guitar, whatsisface played bass lines on his keys. Pink Floyd and Zeppelin didn't always use bass guitar either I think.
Oh we've got our drums tuned, believe you me, they spend so much time on that. Me and the guitar player are getting better every day at filling in the bass role between us. The Moog synth produces some of the fattest bass I've ever heard, I'm working on trying to emulate an actual bass as much as possible. We're getting to where it doesn't sound empty anymore. Though in an ideal world, wed have a bass player but it has to be just right, he has to fit into the close friend group, feel our music like we do, etc. Sucks that our old bass player joined another band though also awesome since those guys are great and a great connection to have as they're fairly well along their road to success.
Xorkoth, you have a digital piano? I have one of those: can do organs, clavichords, etc but it's not a keyboard that can do really synthy stuff and the keys are well weighed.
3 of them actually. A cheap entry level one set up in my office (only really nice thing about it is it has its own external speakers built in), a really nice $2000 dedicated digital piano that is sampled with a Steinway grand and feels exactly like a grand piano (my ex's but I doubt she'll ever come get it so it's mine now), and a Nord Electro 2 which has grand piano, 3 electric pianos (Wurliterzer, 2 types of Rhodes), an organ, and a clavi, plus various effects panels where you can add phasers, flangers, auto-wah, etc, and adjust the tones dramatically. Plus drawbars for the organ and some other stuff. It's my main instrument, almost every band you see uses one of the Nord Electros or the Nord Stage (which is the top of that line), one of the industry standards. Last night we got my piano tone sounding fucking incredible, with a combination of direct in and miked Fender Twin Reverb amp. Oh god, it was glorious.
The Nord has semi-weighted keys, I find it perfect, not as heavy as a real piano but heavy enough to provide great sensitivity.
I also have a Moog Sub-Phatty 27 synthesizer, that thing is a living beast I swear, it's got a personality and it sometimes just gets crazy and changes on me without me doing anything, sometimes to amazing effect and sometimes it causes me to fumble around, but overall I feel like I've gotten pretty good at producing an amazing solo tone that just melts faces and brings a really heavy and heady feeling to our shit.
I've got 2 expression pedals hooked up to the Moog, one to do the hertz filter wheel (which gives it a talking/vocal quality) and one to the volume. For the Nord I have a great loop pedal that can be a delay pedal too (though I am going to get a dedicated delay pedal so I can do both at will without having to bend down and flip a bunch of tiny switches), a sustain pedal and an expression pedal tied to the volume so I can do organ swells. Oh, and a rotor speed switch (the Nord has a built in rotary speaker simulator).
I want to get a loop pedal for the Moog too. Once I have a few more things I'm gonna be set, other than a really nice keyboard amp. I got a practice keyboard amp for Christmas and it sounds great actually but could never use it for a show unless I was just playing a solo gig. But I get to use my guitar player's Twin Reverb amp for now so it's not high priority.
Solipsis you referenced AMT, a friend gifted me some just before Halloween and I haven't touched it yet. Not sure what to expect from it really even after reading about it. He gave me two capsules, supposedly 18mg each. Dunno if I should share with someone or take am both.
Personally I find 36mg to be the lower end of a full dose, I try to take 50mg these days (rarely use it though, been sitting on 2 grams for a long while). Maybe too high for a first time though, but I don't really know anyone who found less than 30mg to be very worthwhile. I actually dislike it for low dosing, seems to just produce side effects for me. Also, important to know if it;s the freebase or HCl or succinate... the succinate is only 60-something percent of the potency of freebase so if it's succinate in those capsules, then it's more like maybe 11 or 12mg equivalent per capsule.
But yeah 18mg is a really low dose of AMT.
