I am actually shaking with rage at the moment. I cannot believe that people are so damn stupid they bought the lies about immigration. This is a country divided every bit as badly as the ruling party right now. The nationalists in Northern IReland are livid at this result and I fear for stability there let alone our own economic stability.
My Irish passport application will be going in the post today and the wife and I are seriously debating moving to another country.
These are very dark days people and there is a lesson to the US here:
DO NOT ASSUME THAT TRUMP CANNOT WIN. Such complacency leads to outcomes such as we have seen here. If there is anything to be taken from this it is that the majority of the US population who think that Trump is an utter tool need to stand up and make their votes count. Do not make the same mistake that we did.

The issue with the US voting system is that the popular vote doesn't actually determine who wins. The way it's set up, the "delegates" actually do the voting/deciding. Each state has a certain number of delegates depending on the population of the state, and the delegates are "supposed" to vote based on the results of the popular vote but in reality they vote the way they're going to vote. So basically the whole voting process is a sham. They know who they want to put in there. I'm almost certain the plan all along was to get Hillary in there. Trump is there to rile everyone up because they love to get us bickering and divided so they can distract us from what's really going on. I mean I'd prefer Hillary to Trump for sure, but I sure wish Bernie Sanders could win. If you look back on his history, he seems like a truly good dude, he participated in civil rights movements in the 60s, he's basically an old hippie. He's the only candidate in recent history who actually says stuff I agree with and feel good about.

I feel the same way about Corbyn in the UK. An anti-apartheid campaigner, peace protester, heavily involved in the Stop The War coalition prior to the disastrous intervention in Iraq and he supports progressive policies aimed at improving the lot of all instead of enriching the wealthy and hoping some of the wealth trickles down. As J K Galbraith wrote "Reaganomics is based on the theory that if you feed the donkey enough hay then it will shit some out the other end for the rest to pick up".
Unfortunately, the right-wing media in the UK would not even let him get into his new job before they started completely destroying him.
As for Trump v Clinton, I get what you mean, but surely people still have to turn out and vote for Hilary? What I'm saying is not to get complacent and assume that Trump is so abhorrent that he has no chance of being elected.
For me, I've come to the conclusion that I need to use my life to try and make a difference. I intend to invest my energies and resources into channelling the anger and rage that has been generated by this result. Those who voted leave were angry and loud; those who wanted to remain have now woken up!
My first plan is to work as hard as I can to unseat our local Member of Parliament; it's one of the safest seats in the country, but the constituency voted solidly in favour of Remain. There are a lot of very angry Conservative voters out there as well as supporters of other parties. I'm going to a strategy meeting next week and I want to make sure that we strike whilst the iron is hot. Make sure that the constituents don't forget it was the Tories (a right wing cabal within the party at that) who pulled us from Europe. Never again will I sit back and complain; I will now be a man of action!

Yeah trickle-down ecomonics is such a crock of shit. It's basically a way to get a bunch of people who need the opposite to vote for rich people looking to keep themselves in power and think it's going to benefit them.

"Hey guys, I got into this position of power in order to increase my own influence and wealth. But if you vote for my policies that further cut my taxes and raise yours, I'll have more money, and I could toss some of that down to you (but I won't, obviously, you fucking peons. Thanks for lining my pockets, idiot.)

Re: 'The Donald' vs Hillary vs Bernie:
you and me both, Xorkoth. I get nauseous at the current movement of bernie supporters who are saying we need to vote for Hillary because it is the only way to shit on Trump. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still evil. First, Im going to wait until after the DNC before I make any commitment, and them I will likely do whatever it is Bernie recommends his supporters do, whether it is vote for her or him as a third party candidate. I cant wait to see some poll numbers in the case of a third or fourth party sotuation. There is still a possibility that the RNC will end up shelving The Donald for a more moderate candidate. Then Trumps ego will force him to run independent, in which case Bernie will then jump into the ring as another Independent, or team up with Jill Stein of the Green Party.

All speculation, but it would really be interesting to have twp moderates and one left-of-center and one right-of-center. Bernie has strong chances in that setup.

Oh and thanks for listening to my tracks guys! I have a lot of good tracls on that album, my other favorites being 'Android Love', 'New Dimensions' and 'Eternal Ritual'. I made videos for those tracks too, viewable at vimeo.com/vostek.

I'm listening to them now... very impressive man. :) Great work, I prefer this to the majority of other stuff in that sort of genre. I play instrumental music and mostly listen to that as well, and oftentimes I find purely electronic music to be lacking in some way, I think mostly because of the choices people tend to make or something. But I really love when it's done well and musically, and you, sir, have done that. <3 Very psychedelic stuff.

The videos are really something too. In many ways very true-to-form psychedelic visuals.

Now continental EU needs to rise up and demand a new system, I hope Yanis Varoufakis is planning something. I've been trying to become more involved, but activism is dying.

It is a shame though, because the union is broken now. This increases tensions between Northern and Southern Europe, the latter might feel this as an opportunity to loose their debts.

"Donald Trump calls Brexit a great thing" was one of the headlines I just read. You did it Brits, you dun just made yourselves look more stupid than us Americans. Congrats! I'm gonna reap the benefit of importing original Beatles Parlophone vinyls as y'all's currency slips into utter destitution! Mwahahahah!!! Already slipped by a quarter dollar in the last day...

^ did you have some beers man? ;D

yeah the brexit is a very significant thing... lets see how it turns out in the future. there is actually so much bureaucracy involved in leaving the EU that it will take some 2 years until it's done. and yeah, I am also interested in what Varoufakis's movement will bring about, I am definately for a more democratic EU instead of abolishing it. after all the past decades after WW2 were the most peaceful times in history for most of the continent.

I actually saw Varoufakis holding a lecture at the University for Economical Sciences here in Vienna, he is a very inspiring person.

kidklmx, were are you from?

I'm thoroughly disillusioned with US politics now that the Bern is no longer being felt. My brief love affair with democratic socialism* is over. Trump is still terrifying, but Hillary is like everything bad about the Democratic Party distilled into one person. I'll probably vote Green. Not like it matters in Texas, anyway. Mostly I'll just complain a lot.

Tories ruin everything. I never thought I would wake up to "David Cameron is resigning" and be sad about it. Again, Britain - wtf m8. Your center-right is dying to self-inflicted wounds, your left is too fragmented to accomplish anything, and you have a racist, nationalist far right movement gaining steam. Shit, that sounds familiar...

* - Yes, I know Bernie is a social democrat, but the idea that anyone who identifies as dem-soc could win a national election had me dreaming. I can't imagine a better Entryist candidacy than Bernie's, and he lost, so that's that.

Don't be so glum solistus. We may have lost a battle, but war rages on. The bern is still felt across the land, and he is doing everything he can taking his 1900 delegates and 13 million votes to the convention to make sure our voices are heard and to push the moderate platform to the left as much as possible. if his concessions aren't acknowledged there is still a 'plan B', and yes the B stands for Bern. Besides, whatever happens, the movement will be alive for far longer ten the man himself for it has captured the imagination of the younger generation in solidarity.

Sure, but that plan B is even more piecemeal and reformist than Bernie's agenda was to begin with. Bernie is already quite a bit to my right politically. A social democrat wielding some influence over the DNC's platform doesn't excite me. Been there, done that. It's still a bourgeois party that will pursue a bourgeois agenda.

Basically, I would welcome Bernie pushing the Democrats incrementally to the left, but that still leaves them squarely in "lesser of two evils until this whole terrible system can be abolished" territory, whereas a Bernie win would have given me hope for a democratic and peaceful means of abolishing said system. Bernie himself probably wouldn't be the one to do it, but his victory would have upended decades of political wisdom that says socialism is dead in this country.

I don't consider how his campaign ended up faring to be particularly important. The point is that a sizable political space to the left of the Democratic party (although it was only realizable within the auspices of that party under current conditions) exists in this country, and that a self-proclaimed "socialist" could take up this space, and win such support is a sign that many people, those under 30 especially, are ready for a more radical message. The signs are very favorable that class consciousness is on the rise, and there is much potential for the future development of a genuine labor/worker's party. The thing is to keep these people politically involved, and I must say Kshama Sawant has been doing a great job pushing the CWI's transitional program to Bernie supporters.

P.S. Sign the petition. #movement4bernie

I wonder if it's just part of getting older but I can't go a long with the left anymore. They've gone too far out into left field for me and everything about them turns me off these days which is sad because a lot of the things they promote would work if they weren't constantly segregating their base. They give off the vibe that they pretty much hate everything I am (white, straight, working class, pro-gun, states rights) and just constantly attack on those points to rile up the rest of their base. You speak out against it and they call you racist and shout you down but at the end of the day I'm poorer than the ones they're giving the social benefits to.

The right has gotten far out there too, no one wants to meet in the middle anymore. Everyone just wants to play identity politics.

Personally I dropped out. I'm content to sit on my farm and give them the finger. I slave away just enough to pay the taxes on my stuff and that's the extent of my involvement with the Government these days. They've alienated a large portion of their base and it's going to hurt them in the coming election. My state voted for Obama the first time around but has swung hard to the right just because they've been so hateful towards the people that live here. Don't really matter who gets in imho, we're too divided now and we're going to have major civil unrest and likely a war within my life time.

I do feel for the left though, y'all got screwed. The people wanted Bernie and they aren't going to get him (at least that half of the country did). Hillary should be sitting in prison right now, if any one of us did half of what she's done they would have locked us up a long time ago.

Voting won't change the situation, I've accepted this. The system is rigged against us and the rich will just keep getting richer.

For all the good giving more power to the federal Government did it really hurt the country imo. We'd be better off if we could just Govern the states how we saw fit (excluding things like slavery of course). That way if you don't like it where you live you can just move to a place that suits you better. What works in one state isn't always the best for another, for example the politics of California aren't going to work in the deep south outside of a major city. It just goes against the needs of the people that live in the backwoods. I'm sure someone in LA or San Fran would be content with no one having rifles where someone like me needs them for both food and defense of my property (I'm 20-30 minutes away from any help). It goes the other way too though, I can understand imposing limits on the use of rifles inside of city limits and such where you have a faster response time and more houses clustered together. I can fire 30-06 rounds all day in about any direction with no worries about it going through anyone that I'm not aiming at.

There isn't an easy answer for these sorts of things. Sadly, no one wants to work together and compromise anymore.

Today i began my monthly tianeptine binge, scheduled for two days on one day off and then one last day on. Feels so fucking liberating. I get so much enjoyment out of doing normal people things, like playing frisbee golf, walking down main street and meeting 'random' folk that my intuition tells me to strike up a conversation. There are cool people out there even in my sleepy town. Basically whenever I hear someone pounding oht so.e decent electronic music I dont regret saying hi. Met a fellow edm producer today with that approach. Enjoy the weekend, heads!
