Yes. Getting off the BZDs is worlds harder than getting off opiates, and 8-10mg of clonazepam is a stratospheric dose. You should feel relatively okay a week or so after your last dose of oxy, although there can be trouble lurking in your future as regards PAWs, but take that as it comes... I personally would recommend doing a fast (~1wk) buprenorphine taper, with a relatively mild habit of relatively short duration such as yours, it could potentially be pretty painless. The benzos, however, will be another animal altogether. That high a dose could potentially take months to taper down from, and I would not suggest rushing things; in fact, I'd suggest seeking out medical assistance. Benzo.org.uk has a lot of good info. just got back from the doctors.

He suggested rushing the taper.

he said he wont give me any more clonaz unless i go on an ssri... is that the answer?

SSRIs are most assuredly not the answer (IMO, in most cases, though they do work for some), nor is a fast taper... The latter especially goes against all evidence.

You have every right to seek a second medical opinion and should do so.

Benzo w/d as you know can be extremely dangerous physically. If you run out of other options there is the emergency room. While far from the best option they will not turn you away and will give you something (a benzo) to stave off acute w/d, although they may wind up trying to get you into inpatient detox... Which really might be the best idea, in this case. Such a high dose of Klonopin really is no joke...
 
I agree I don't think an SSRI is necessarily the best choice. My doctor wanted to put me on an SSRI + clonazepam, but then when I went to an actual psychiatrist he said that the SSRI is not usually very effective for anxiety and he just put me on xanax as needed, which was helpful.

I understand that SSRIs can help some people but honestly I feel like doctors are just shooting in the dark with these hoping that they somehow improve symptoms without really understanding how it is working. Serotonin is not the magical solution to solve all mental health issues, they just don't really know what else to try.

I would question his judgment if he wants wants to rush your taper and pressure you to take a new medication.

As someone who has done the benzo withdrawal thing, here's some advice that's on the top of mind:

Tell your doctor that you'll take the SSRI so you can get some more clonaz, but don't actually fill the SSRI script. The goal is just to say whatever you have to in order to get more clonazepam, so that you can taper. Then you need to actively seek out another doctor who will "maintain" you on whatever dose of clonaz, that way you can taper yourself down at your own pace.

I strongly recommend against inpatient detox, as nearly every program tapers benzo addicts much too fast. Especially the barbaric cold-turkey, and phenobarbital "taper" programs. Not good stuff. Slow tapering at home, at your own pace, is best.

At the very least, you need to "cold cut" to 2mg or so and hold that dose for at least a month before further cutting. Then drop 10% of your dose every month or so after that, depending on how you feel. If you taper too fast, or-- god forbid-- go cold turkey, you will be in the hurt locker in the worst possible way. Words cannot describe the particular hell of cold turkey benzo withdrawal, it is utterly inhumane. Tapering is far, far superior.

Understand that benzo withdrawal is a serious, long-term endeavor. Do your research and become informed, you need to be your own doctor now. Listening to some doctors' advice regarding benzos could potentially kill you; you need to be able to seek out the care you need and be assertive about your right to have it.

Tbird, how long have you been taking the clonaz. I remember you saying you started it not long ago and the doc gave you 8mg because of your naturally high tolerance.
If you havent been on long getting off shouldnt be too much of a porblem.

I think i'm going to do a nice little cocktail of 2C-C and 2C-D this weekend. Hopefully I get my 2C-D before then, if not it'll just be me and 2C-C (with some sensi and some nang of course!).

Idk man, I kinda just go with the flow.

As of recently though, ive been tripping pretty frequently, though not on anything very intense.

Some low-dose 2C-B one weekend, medium dose 2C-C the next, 5-MeO-DALT last night, a nice k-hole here and there, but I havent gone on a major voyage in a good month or so, if not more.

I let the universe decide when I should trip. If it feels right, I go for it.

Ehh theez. I like my loves or whatever to be either white powders i can put up mah nostrils or offwhite rockz for parachutin. Ill pass on the green love or whatever....
