Sounds like you're stressed out. Meditation and stretching (especially your hamstrings) can really help. My bet is that the 2C-E briefly minimizes/suppresses the thought patterns responsible for your muscle tightness (which eventually leads to other health complications if left untended).
I used to get all sorts of lower back tightness/stiffness/pain that would come and go fairly often. They became regular occurrences until I just let myself relax and breathe.
Ya man my hammies are tight as hell. I think they are always tight. I've been told by a friend who studies all this Ayurvedic stuff that suppressed emotions and thoughts are transmuted into tightness in the ham string muscles. I was thinking along similar lines because to be honest I am pretty much always stressed out, even tho outwardly everyone always tells me I seem like a chill guy. My mind is just too imaginative some times hahha. You know how Ally McBeal always has those vivid day dream hallucinations? I spend half my day in that space sometimes playing out all the bad scenarios I might possibly be placed in...for instance like the other day when i day dreamt i was being chased by giant circular saw looking alien war machines and forced to choose between fighting to the death to stand by my dog, who had been surrounded by the wheel beasts, or flee to safety while watching them tear him apart. Hahaha I think crazy stuff like that all the time and it always has some weighty emotional attachment, so I leave half these day dreams feeling icy in my gut or chest. I tried to stretch them out too before this recent injury...
I do 2 types of stretches I learned to undue the stress in my calves after I figured out I had plantar fasciitus a couple years ago. They do a good job of loosening the calf muscles but not so much the ham strings unless I move awkwardly past the the correct posture in the stretch. I don't do any yoga, I wouldn't even know where to begin. I took one yoga class actually and i ended up sweating so much and all over the floor, way more than anyone else, i felt so embarrassed by it so I never went back. I was using my sock to dry my head everytime no one was looking over lol oh boy...i am gonna look for some yoga dvd online tho and see if there's one that focuses on back pain, i am sure there are many. thanks for the tips.
in the meantime, i should prob listen to more of the gateway hemisync meditation cds. they really help me when i use them.
