other than techno.........

I agree with Shadow ... good music is GOOD MUSIC!
But I would prefer house - deep, dark, sexy, funky, TRIBAL house!!
I do like techno but still prefer something that has a lower tempo and that you can still groove it ... kekeke

Does anyone else like Slinky Tech-nique Disc2? For some reason I LOVE this cd and listen to it when going to sleep most nights. Also Global Underground Sasha's Ibiza cd, great deep house cds, great to study to. Just a couple of cds that I really like for some reason.
As for styles I love psytrance, deep-, tech- and funky-house. Some more psytrance, acid techno and I must say I'm a sucker for some good trance (think Platipus' best of album). Listen to psy about 6hrs a day min though (plays on the moonbus server neally 24 hours a day but a few others slip into the playlist

).

I hate to be so pedantic but Sasha's Ibiza GU cd isn't deep house. It's trance. So is the Slinky disc.
but yeah...they're both ok to listen to.

Well I do mean to sound pedantic. Tracks 1-9 on the first disc of Ibiza aren't trance, they're progressive/deep house. 10-12 are trance.
The second disc of Ibiza is mostly trance but even then much of it retains housey qualities.

I listened to all types of music at one stage or another. For a while I was your typically JJJ listener...
Nowdays, however, I just can't stand most music with lyrics. They drive me nuts because the get into my head and wont leave.
I do, however, draw exceptions for the likes of Ben Harper and Dave Matthews. Don't know why - but they're just not annoying.
My favorite styles would have to be psy trance, progressive and techno. But I don't really know - whatever sounds good I guess.

Sorry if the definition of styles there is a bit hazy, but I agree with Prometheus totally on his definition and I didn't really word the paragraph well but I dont think Slinky is deep house at all. It's more in the cheesy trance region.

Now that's sure to stir a little argument, maybe I should rephrase it to more in the commercial trance region.
I think I might start a new genres club where you only have three, pounding, slower and ambient. Yeesh I hate genres

.
I appologise now if I upset anyone.

I didn't mean to come across all stroppy about the genres thing
smile.gif

Yeah I guess the whole genre thing does suck..trying to fit music into certain pigeonholes.
But how on earth can I try and explain the type of music I like if I can't put a genre to it? And it's a good guide (sort of) as to what events I might like to go to.

tek... BAH
uk garage is the shit, specially the stuff with full reggae mc's..
oh yeah, and trance

I think an important point to be made is that just because something is commercial doesn't mean it isn't any good. BT is commerical as is PaulvanDyk. Gatecrasher is commercial as all hell but they're still among my, most listened cd's.

Prometheus you said it all.
nothing can move you the same way as trance, it can build you ten break you it can lift you into another world, it picks you up when you are down, no other music can do that for me. So no matter how commercial it becomes i'll still be with trance the whole way.

Hehe, I knew that would stir a little trouble. There's nothing wrong with commercial stuff, why would I be listening to those CD's otherwise?
What the hell are you on about ICFML? Or what the hell are you on?

Did anyone see the question on 'Who wants to be a millionaire' where it asked something along the lines of 'what is the artist name of the current successful techno artist whos real name is steve' or some shit like that. The options were A. Willy, B. Flipper, C. Moby, D. Orca.
I pissed myself..... unless Moby is making raw pounding tekkers these days.
