Other Drugs Forum Feedback Thread

we all post in suits, we're professionals, man. well, some of us are on our way through different qualifications within the drugs/recovery workforce; so while i kid about it, it has some truth to it. and who here doesn't bend the truth a little sometimes?;)

the quality of threads and closures and movings, etc does ebb and flow. always has and (probably) will.

^Actually, I think the other staff's attire LACKS professionalism. Suits are for amateurs.

I wear a tuxedo with tails and a top hat to accompany my cane thus cultivating the full and rather classy Mr. Peanut look.

And THAT is precisely while you'll never have the requisite debonair style and class to join us in this exclusive social club of Other Drug forum moderators ;)

Excuse me while I instruct my butler Reginald on how I would like my earl grey prepared and at what hour I shall have my bath drawn and champagne waiting for me.

Good day.

^^ Why would i want to join that club anyway? Word on the street is you're all escaped crazies from the loony bin, you know, with the arson murders and whatnot.

Anyway, I know it's probably been suggested before, but why haven't Greenlighters been banned from making new threads yet? I suppose it could be a deterrent for them to become active members of the website, but if they utilize the search engine and/or post in one of the the many megathreads, i would be surprised if they still couldn't find all the information they wanted. A large portion of threads that get closed or moved were started by greenlighters, right? So let them figure out how shit works around here first. Of course there has to be a good reason this hasn't been done yet (unless it has and i haven't noticed), so otherwise whats the reason for letting them post new threads?

^These ideas have been discussed in the past and ultimately rejected.

This certainly goes against harm reduction. The purpose of OD is to inform and help people and if a lot of people will not get the help they need if we require them to have 50 posts before being allowed to ask. I understand how it can be annoying as a regular (I've certainly been there) but ultimately its more important that help is accessible to EVERYONE who may need it.

True, i hadn't thought of that. Thanks for yet another clarification. Too bad there is no way to FORCE people to read the rules before posting new threads. It hasn't been too bad the last few days in my opinion though, must be in between waves right now.

hey my aussie comrads...we're running a feedback thread for Other Drugs. for those of you who visit frequently and post on occasions could you please leave some constructive feedback.

please read through the OP to get the idea we're chasing.

good luck and thanks, in advance, for those who take the time to fill it out; it only tskes a few minutes and BL receives a donation from said survey:D

Thanks a million,
the OD Staff

Well for a start, who does this leftwing guy think he is? On the surface he seems like a nice enough guy, but then I make one little thread asking if anyone has some spare methylamine and phenylacetone and suddenly it's all, "Mr Blonde you can't do that, you could get in a lot of trouble!" ;)

Seriously though, I can't think of anything really wrong with how OD is being run right now. There is a lot of good information in there, the mods are all really cool and good at their roles and there are some really intelligent users in there.

i specifically asked you to PM me those sources, brother;) not open it to the public! you got my address right?

i agree we have a lot of great poster throughout the board but know there must/has to be improvements made in places. whether they're as small as adding in a simple rule change, simple feedback or what have you.

having been on the OD team nearly 3 yearself myself and with real life being a big factor with all moderators on the team i don't want to say we have no direction for the board in the future - it's quite the opposite for it is ever evolving - but would like some outside input as to what you, the public, would like to see:) we view the board a little differently being on the inside and outside to those of you posting and reading.

a fresh set of eyes is what we're chasing to maybe kickstart some badass project.

^ You've been a mod for nearly three years? Wow. That's awesome brother. :D

And no, I didn't get your address so your X-Mas present is still here! PM me?

C'mon AusDD'ers, help OD out with some advice!

to merge into OD discussion thread

It seems like every megathread should have a first post FAQ, which would let users read the "best of" whatever is inside those 25+ pages.

Seriously, I think mega threads might hurt more than they help. If a user does a thread title search (which is how most people search) any specific IV info inside the mega thread will not turn up in the results, and if an IV user is looking for specific help, the idea of sifting through so many pages looking for a specific answer is daunting to say the least.

But, if all the best advice in the megathead was posted up front, most people would get their answers to the most common questions right away.

How about it, mods? If all those threads get merged into megathreads, a page one FAQ would help a lot of people whose specific questions get lost in the shuffle.

Can an SMod or Admin move this to the Other Drugs discussion thread please, currently located in AusDD...

Regarding the topic, I certainly think it is worth discussion as to how to reform the mega threads. Maybe we only merge in the best posts and close the repetitive stuff? The mega-thread could be more of a collection of the best threads rather than where active discussion goes on. I'd like to hear what others have to say.

That's what we try to do with most mega threads; check out the first page of the Suboxone Mega Thread.

If you want to help build an FAQ section for a Mega Thread which doesn't have one, go for it.

that's what we've been doing along the way for a while now but we can only do so much when we're each online. when we read a thread with some good discussion we've been editing links into the first post of the mega threads. we (mods) don't read everything and we encourage everyone who's reading that if they read a thread link worth adding into a mega thread then PM us. it's a collaboration of information after all right?

mega threads try to serve the purpose of trying to comprise a (somewhat) comprehensive thread of information, as well for merging the repetitive questions. it saves searching through a million different threads on the one topic right? you can search for keywords right within the mega thread or any other thread for that matter.
