yo, this past weekend, i decided to give drinking a try, and after 4-5 shots of VODKA, i was HATING IT..now, i have been CLEAN from ALL drugs for the past year, EXCEPT for METHADONE..i only dose 20 mgs per day, so thats not a big thing...i grew up drinking, getting drunk(on the weekends) and LOVING IT..then i found OPIODs, and my desire for all other drugs diminished...

i dunno, i was just curious as to how some of you OPIATE freaks can sit and drink it up and get drunk AFTER being exposed to the BLISS of opiods..i just hated the process of drinking, and the "feeling" of drunkeness that was creeping up on me just didnt feel GOOD at all..like said, i USED to love drinking and gettin drunk, so MAYBE im guessing my years of opiod use/abuse has possibly DAMAGED my brain in some way so now the effects of ALCOHOL are quite unpleasant??i dunno, just curious as to why this happened..

NO, im staying off ALL other drugs, so thats not the answer here...i just wanna know if any of you that have successfully quit a hardcore opiod habit went back to actually ENJOYING the ALCOHOL experience?/

after my dope habit i've grown to hate alcohol and most other drugs, simply because they're inferior substances imo. This thread is similar to the the "did h make you lose interest in coke".

i used to enjoy drinking but no longer can after using marijuana and opioids. the highs from marijuana and opiates are just so clean and blissful while the high from alcohol is filthy.

opiates do make you loose interest in all other drugs from personal experience

the high from alcohol isn't filthy...you're too intoxicated to realize it's 'filthy'...weed on the other hand....

i mean it has a dirty feeling to it, like i feel live ive drank some kind of poison. when im intoxicated on alcohol it feels really good but when that euphoric feeling wears off i'm left with a disgusting feeling.

I love both alcohol AND opiates, and, I imagine, when (or if) I do quit opiates, I plan on continuing to drink...

from personal experience: if a very jaded , heavy opiate user manages to stay off opiates for a while , he/she may be able to enjoy all KINDS of other drugs incl : candyflipping, occaisonal pot smoking and drinking ( especially among ggod friends ) ..2 cents

I have to agree with the majority of you and say alcohol seems completely disgusting and a waste of time to me now after using heroin. Just the thought of it makes me nauseous.

I'm in the exact same boat.
I used to love alcohol. Besides smoking pot, it was my substance of choice. Then I discovered opiates, and now I don't really enjoy smoking pot or drinking alcohol at all. In fact I would rarely accept them anymore even if free.

I only drink when i know im going to get wasted like at tailgates or camping. Other than that i normally drink one beer with my pills so i can eat less of them and i dont get that sloppy feeling your talking about.(just realized im a greenlighter even though ive been reading this board since 01 never signed up lol)

exactly how i feel about alcohol too. i use to like getting smashed, but found bliss in other drugs. I still drink, but only beer. I still love beer, its more of a relaxed feeling i get, plus i can just kick back a few and feel alright, without that "toxic" feeling.

I forget the process for how it happens, but doesn't drinking have a moderate effect on mu receptors? I hate the dirty alcohol feeling too, but it's the only drug that makes me want to fight until i get my face kicked in. (something I can enjoy)

Almost all recreational drug users hate alcohol cuz you realize how dirty, poisonous, and ineffective a drug it is compared to other drugs legal or not. alcohol is crap. ban that shit before it kills people. oh, it already does.

yeah, i guess i don't HATE alcohol, but i don't find it enjoyable anymore.

when i was using i despised alcohol, especially other people drinking it. they seemed so obnoxious and would never leave me alone when i was trying to enjoy my high.

occasionally a good drink is nice.

when i have a constant supply of opiates, i don't even think about alcohol, which was of course my drug of choice before i discovered opiates. when i don't have any opiates, of course, i drink. in comparison, alcohol isn't nearly as desirable a drug as opiates, so of course i have a different perspective now when i drink... i still enjoy tying one on, but i always will know now that getting drunk is not the ultimate high anymore

i'd say the knowledge of opiates has decreased my enjoyment of alcohol, but i can still enjoy it if i'm around a bunch of good friends and we're partying it up

I hate alcohol, and think it is the stupidist thing one can get high off of. This opinion is regardless of my opiate use. Being Jewish, I grew up around wine on Fridays and holidays. I had my drinking experiences early, and decided at age 14 that drinking sucks. Not been drunk in 14 years. Never plan to drink again either.

again, I disagree, though...

...there is a difference. For instance, H and alcohol doesn't mix (unless it is a very small amount of alcohol or a very small amount of H). However, oxies, in my opinion, were specifically made for a couple of beers--and here I have an argument about that but I won't get into it. Now, naysayers and supporters constantly argue about the dangers and merits of alcohol. I do think that 6 beers per night (light, not heavy beers) are actually helpful to an opiate-regular user because it keeps him/her regular (bowels). I have never experienced the problems of bowel movements and I suspect it is because I maintain my healthy lifestyle of 6 light beers per evening. I stay away from hard alcohol unless I am doing C or Tina, in which case, I usually only take a maintenance dose of my opiate of the moment.

Now, I never, ever drink and drive, and, since the past couple of years, I never get violent from alcohol. Maybe it was my time in the marines, maybe it was the cool, refreshing taste of a cold beer on a summer afternoon, but you will have to pry the warm can of beer from my dead hand....I can't understand how so many of you are against the greatness of beer. I am def. against harder liquor, which I consider nasty tasting medicine (though helpful in certain drug situations). I am rambling now, but payday was a day or two ago, and it is Friday...tgif and tgfo.
