ooohhh sh*t its going down

I hope there is a sweet after party close i have all weekend.
i need to meet up with a couple of ladies that play that night, like
lady4square, or lady bandit, i need someone to give me some
advice!!!!! my dream for becoming a dj needs to happen, I have too many
people to prove wrong. I refuse to give up, HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!=D
 
a tip from another wanna-be dj: get yourself a cheap set up (don't get belt driven tables, if you want some recommendations on brands there's other forums in bl devoted to music and dj's and lots of good websites), buy some records--2 of the same track (helps to train your ear to beatmatch.... start one record, drop the other one in and then try match 'em up), and practice. it's nice to get tips from people, but the only thing that's gonna make you a successful dj is hours and hours of practice. when you're at a party or a club go up and watch the dj, it helps too. and don't drink red wine when practicing. and don't spin trance or hhc. ;)

Thank you for the tips, I've saved $2000.00 dollars to put into this
so I will have some phat stuff. I know that it will take a while to catch
on but i know with a little help from local dj's I'll be rock'in the house
all night long. I just need to hire a good dj for a few hours, no one little scibble or anyone famous, just someone that knows their shit and would be willing to teach me first hand.This is my dream goal it always has been for the past 4 years. I was in a car accident that held me back from doing this 2 years ago, but one day i will be on a stage making beautiful music,
but like i said if any one is willing to drive about 10 minutes from cincinnati, to show me some things I would make it worth your time. Thank fallenangel

but if youre willing to drive to columbus maybe a couple times a month, we have decks you could practice on, and could give you the type of pointers youre inquiring about.
 
darn, well columbus isn't that far away, i would be able to come out there on a weekend if it could be planned that would be great thanks.but i hope at this party i can meet some people and hopfully find a sweet after party, meet some new friends and do some dancing. anytime you have a little time to spare, e-mail me and i might beable to take a small roadtrip. cool glasshopper? thanks everyone for the support, much love to all

ravergirley.... the advice given has been good... but remember that it takes a WHILE to learn to play out well... and that takes practice and most importantly confidence. Ask anyone (not just females) to help you with learning and I am sure that they will if they have time. What style you play has a lot to do with it too... D&B, Prog, House are all really done differently. If you watch Lady4square and Serendipity, they will use the crossfader, while I know that Molly and I do not at all. Most house DJs I know do use it.... so there are other things to think about too... just get some decks or find some to use and try it out.
