Yeah I knew I was sailing close the wind!

Anyway, the ghost of MSB came to me in a dream and said "Have you got a source for that?" So I visited Wikipedia and I'll have to eat my words, or at least chew on them a bit, as there seems to be insufficient evidence to conclude that child abusers or paedophiles have generally experienced such abuse themselves. I'm not persuaded that environmental factors are not involved, but there does seem to be some biological differences in the brains of child abusers, so there may well be something in the genetics argument. They tend to be a bit thick, for a start, although Jimmy Savile seemed to be at least averagely intelligent, I can tell by looking at him.

So there you go, it's not their fault, or anyone elses (entirely, maybe)!

In most of these genetics vs environment arguments the truth usually seems to lie somewhere in the middle. I suspect that a sexual attraction to children is pretty much inborn but a tendency to become an actual child molestor is more complex and influenced by external factors.. I can also see that it is possible for there to be multiple reasons why people are attracted to children - because they just are, because they are attracted to the power dynamic, or something else entirely. I've not done any research into this though, it's just my gut feeling. Sexuality and sexual behaviour is so complicated.

It's too early to weigh into the morals debate haha, but this has been very interesting reading! :)
 
I always remember the comment of an unrepentant redneck doing 20 years for incest and child rape and featured in a TV documentary on US prisons. " I raise my own chickens, I raise my own pigs, " said the old goat, " and I don't see why I ain't allowed to raise my own pussy. " With free-mearket logic like that, he'd be a great hit at the Tory conference.
 
I was deliberately letting it overrun as I couldn't decide what to do about it :D Wasn't quite sure about a second reincarnation of a Jimmy Saville/paedo megathread but equally I couldn't cut everyone off midflow! I'll make a Mk2 once I've had my dinner though. Perhaps we can have a more generic paedophilia thread to encompass the recent discussions as well as the rampant speculation and accusations... ;)
 
now, i don't want to start any blasphemous rumours but on this subject of controlling the urges of paedophilia. patrick moore put all his efforts into star gazing.. i had some other stuff to say about animals and the like. this bloke i know, he lets his dog (bitch) hump his leg. she tried to hump my bitch though my bitch was just a tease like it's owner so the fella said
