Apparantly when they arrested Cyril back in 1970 during the police interview he was "sweating heavily" and said "This will kill my mother". Then he got someone to place a call and it all got dropped. I imagine he was on the square - he'll have got one of this masonic buddies to call the cops.

Jimmy Savile certainly had some interesting friends. I'd say surprisingly high percentage of mentally ill ones but it really isn't so much of a surprise really.
I know the theory is that the ripper is giving Frank a masonic handshake in that pic but I've always wondered if he's just grabbed his hand the wrong way in the excitement. When he was 23 he was convicted of "going equipped for theft" (he was carrying a hammer) and before that he was a gravedigger. I'm not sure the freemasons were that gung-ho on recruiting gravediggers with criminal convictions, especially considering half of them are coppers.
