NPS Act V1. Blankets? Just Say No!

Of course the HR angle deserves a mention, but we ought not forget that there is an even greater constitutional matter at stake here: the presumption that anything which is not explicitly forbidden is allowed. Bad laws -- and I believe that in the case of this Bill, the overly-broad language and the impossibility to enforce it fairly are very bad -- must be sent back and rewritten.

Unfortunately UK governments don't seem to care about fair or badly written laws - we live in a country where watching the wrong type of pornography involving consenting adults will get you 3 years in prison and slapped on the sex offenders register, effectively a thought crime. New Labour started it and the last coalition made it even more widely encompassing meaning that anyone who has visited most of the porn tubes is already a sex offender in the eyes of the law. All arguments about this were dismissed and many lives have been ruined.

This country is quite frankly fucked and if I can find a way of leaving for somewhere more liberal in the next 5-10 years I am going to get the fuck out.

I've been quietly advised that we can assume at least 2 & perhaps 6 months or more for something this controversial, complicated & with the present work-load. I can't vouch for that, that's just what I'm told.

Also, given how widespread Legal Highs are these days, there's probably going to have to be some sort of advance warning or an amnesty for awhile after the law is passed so as to give retailers time to adjust to the new regime.

Some say even if the bill is workable & there are no legal hitches, it could still be a year from law & may still not make it in this session. This I feel is wishful thinking but you never know. The RC scene is rich & powerful. Perhaps we should use this time to try bring some of those resources together for a campaign to educate a Lord or two.

We need an RC Suppliers Lobby Group like the Alcohol Lobby Group(s). Or an RC Suppliers Union.

Hang on, just go back a bit there... What's this about porn? Have I missed summat? I thought only paedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality and violent porn were illegal. If not, then I'm well and truly fucked... :(
 
there was an attempt to ban the production of some bondage material in the UK & to ban girls squirting or something... pretty fucking ridiculous.

I emailed my Kratom supplier about the situation and he seems very well informed about the whole thing. I'll email him and ask if he minds me quoting his very interesting and informative reply on here. I might change a few words around here and there, without changing the overall meaning, and unquote those bits.

There has already been several waves of bans, banning specific substances, or specific classes of substances, this is a new situation of proposing banning the sale of every legal high in the UK , and is hopefully at least several months off. I hope Cameron gets bogged down with problems over Europe and within his own party, and this whole idea gets put on the back burner, until their time is up. What odds will anyone give me on that happening?:\ I also hope some strong and credible, rational lobby groups get formed and make this as difficult as possible to get through.

I see they exempted food so yes, that's not going anywhere.

Nitrous is an EU approved additive, does that mean it won't be classified by this bill?

Official word is that the bill is expected to come into force in April 2016

Just emailed my MP and a baroness pointing out the deviation from british legal tradition with this law. Only 400 words but hopefully it makes them think a bit.
