The 2 OH groups exist in a state of equilibrium with the ketone, so any sample will have mephedrone present to some extent. The people selling this had better have a working 'get out of jail free card' or it'll end in tears (lots of tears - & fines - & probably stays in one of queen Liz's 'health camps')

I imagine that they'll stack so much paper so quickly that they'll be able to afford highly competent legal defence by the time anyone notices. Not that they'll mind; after the cathinone ban, the law seemed to be "No selling mephedrone as mephedrone. If you sell it, sell it as naphyrone or 6-apb or prolintane or dimethocaine or...". If it were me, I'd do it from outside the country anyway.

This is an absolutely epic idea. There is no way to prove the contents contain cathinones without opening the container and testing them. By doing so, the chemical formulae will change and the container now WILL contain cathinone. Surely this couldn't stand up in cout.

The science is bullshit, if it is a ketal of mephedrone or the hydrate of mephedrone then there will be guaranteed to be enough mephedrone there to prosecute, neither the ketal not the hydrate is stable and we can easily detect 100 ng of mephedrone that is 0.0001 mg.
buy this and you are buying either some random RC shit, or mephedrone, if it is the former then you might not be breaking the law, buy the latter and you are going to be fucked over when the vendor is arrested and charged with possession intent supply class B and the customer records are seized.
If it is some random RC but you bought it as mephedrone you can still be fucked for attempted possesion.

'Attempted possession' seems such a grey area I'm wondering how many people have been successfully prosecuted with this charge? I admit I'd never even heard of it before and googled it to check its veracity.

Surely you'd be more worried with being charged with intent to import a controlled substance than simple possession, if it's coming from outside the UK?

I thought the structure had come from the site. You drew a geminal diol which is not necessarily the same as a ketal. So in fact the compound could be something else entirely?
