I second that. I can't understand people like some speed users who say they like speed, indeed put it above coke/crack, because it keeps them wide awake for days on end. To me that's torture. Unless you're a soccer player and then it's doping, not drug-taking.

Le Junk, I'm intrigued about the opiate euphoria. I did H 3 times (twice by mistake, thinking it was something else), and 3 times I was sick and didn't get much in the way of euphoria. Is the opiate euphoria something that makes you horny in any way? Is it in any way as "satisfactory" as the coke/crack high? I'm curious as a coke afficionado.

I've tried H three times total. And everytime sucked, really, really bad! H is the pinacle of opiates along with morphine, I guess? I'm sure someone with more knowledge in the field of opiates will correct me if I'm wrong. But anyway, all three times I tried H (snorted only, never IV'd), it made me feel extremely heavy, like I was 500 lbs. or something, very slow in speach and in my physical actions, NO euphoria, NO sex drive etc. Just awful, that's all! I also pucked all three times I tried it, and the last time it looked like a freakin' Blue Hawaiin or something, though I didn't drink anything blue all night. Weird, huh? And my neighbor that had to drive me home said I was speaking sooooooo sloooooooowly, but would eventually be able to end every sentence. It just took a few minutes, or ten. He said that's the most fucked up he's ever seen me too! And he'd seen me coming off three day coke binges before etc. He said those didn't even come close to just how awful I looked on the big H! He said my eye's were all glazed over like glass and that I looked like absolute shit. And he was sober, so I trust everything he said was pretty much right on. Fun times, let me tell ya'. 8o When can I do that again? No sir!

Anyway, one day before I even knew that hydrocodone was an opiate, a girlfreind of mine gave me one 10/325. I'd been up partying on what was sold to me as coke for two straight days, I think, and when this hydro hit me, BAM!, it was like doing "real" coke all of a sudden! I felt like someone just injected 8 hours sleep into my body and I was instantly re-energized! It relaxed me, yet gave me energy along with an underlying euphoria. Basically, what "real" coke makes you feel like. I later learned than taking valium while doing that stuff labled as cocaine makes you feel like your doing "real" coke as well, but that's another story.

Okay, the anwer your really looking for, does hydrocodone make you feel the subtle, underlying, euphoric, talkative buzz you get from "real" cocaine? The answer is..................well, kinda. Let's put it this way, it's like doing a quarter line of really good coke, but that's it. And with opiates, unlike cocaine, it's a physically addictive drug, so you find yourself having to pick up the pace to acheive the same high (but honestly, after nearly 6 months of use, it never happened to me, same dose, same beautiful high). But in NO way am I condoning the use of opiates.

It might also be noted that I tried another very similiar opiate, oxycodone (percocet), and they gave me NO euphoria, just energy. But they had a really bad downside on me. They made me freakin' wacko! I would fly of the handle at a whim, the sky was always falling, freakin' out all the time, angry etc. So apparentely, I have a bad reaction to oxycodone vs. hydrocodone. In closing, i also found that the Watson brand name was the best quality, as far as I was concerned anyway.

its not the same kind of euphoria. it has a different feel and actually some people do not like the opiate euphoria. generally people that like stimulants actually do not like the opiate high so then you may not also. the opiate ephoria is more subtle, it is a relaxing, warm deep internal feeling. indeed you do need to grow accustomed to it however.

Actually, the opiate high you've just described is identical to a "real" cocaine high. Cocaine is an extremely relaxing stimulant accompanied by the most beautiful euphoria, clarity, sexual desire, center of the universe, impowering, can do no wrong, extremely subtle high. In fact, when I first did "real" coke in the '80's, I didn't even know I was high at first. From all the bad publicity I'd heard and read prior, I simply assumed cocaine was suppose to kick you in the ass, amp you out, make you paranoid, geeked out, edgy etc. But in reality, it was absolutely identical in almost evey respect to the plateau stage of pure MDMA. Any other buzz is stepped on coke, or not coke at all.

Le Junk :)

P.S. A few more reasons why it's gonna be really hard to quit! But I will, though! ;)

The plateau stage of MDMA for me is uncontrolable eye shakes, intense visuals and not knowing where the hell I am + not being able to complete a sentence!

No, no sweetie, that would be the peak! The plateau stage occurs about an hour to an hour and a half into your high when everything stops shaking, your eyes's quit rolling into the back of your head, you can focus again, and can somewhat realize that the chick, or in your case, guy you were talking to all night and thought was so hot, was actually quite uglier than you previously could see out of your one good eye at the time! ;)

Every day is somewhat of a struggle. I feel as though I'm trying to reach a goal or something, but there's nothing at the end. This is it, this is the goal. Life. ;)

Thanks, but no, I just feel really weird, if that makes any sense. It's simply sobriety and I'm just not used to it. I used to say everyone does drugs as a way to justify my habit, but actually they don't. Most people are sober. It's just going to take some getting used too, that's all. Freakin' weird, though..........

Life actually moves very, very sloooooooooooooow! I could only imagine how slow it is in prison now, for example! It's like I'm in slow motion or something.........

that makes tons of sense.

coke gave me up a couple of years ago but i haven't been able to be completely substance free in more than 15 years.

now it's only weed (daily) and alcohol (couple good binges a week) but STILL - i have no idea who 'sober for extended periods' me really IS.

cool that you've found that in yourself.

edit: okokok so - is it really that life is slower or is it that you're lucid and conscious of every freaking moment so it seems like it's slower? that's kindof cool if you think about it - you're probably actually LIVING so much more than before!

Dead on about that. It really hit me today. Slow moving. Do you get easily bored too? Clean 4+ weeks now and I see alot of the good parts, but man your right. Slow moving is an understatement.

Missing the security blanket I guess. Kind of like Linus from Peanuts. Except I didn't drag the coke on the ground all the time!

There are two kinds of slowness: boredom and having plenty of time to do things. If it's just boredom it's not that good. The sensation to be "doings things" again is better.

In fact, when you start on a coke career, you tend to enjoy every moment of it and you may have the feeling that sessions last long. Once it becomes a habit however, sessions of 12 to 20 hours feel like 2 hours' time. First line or toke at sunset, the night goes by, soon the sun rises on a new day but you hardly notice, indeed seldom bother to switch off the lights and draw the curtains, you're still there snorting in front of the TV or hitting the pipe, the new day goes by, the sun sets for the second time and you're still at it... In all that time you've been doing nothing except chasing the high.

Once you quit all that wasted time becomes available again and it feels like there's so much of it!

This months TIME Magazine's cover story "How we get addicted". Dopamine. Cocaine blocks the reuptake of dopamine. Amphetamine causes the release of dopamine. Take both and you can seriously tweak. Heroin and morphine block the release of inhibitory neurotransmitters that would neutralize some dopamine. Why do you think they call it dope? amine.
They stressed that 90 days is a real milestone where many more succeed than fail if they can stay sober 90 days. Although some are more prone to addiction than others, abuse of any drug can cause addiction. They mention that meth addicts have difficulty learning new things. I guess the normal reward for learning just can't get recognized through all of the overstimulation. What good this new thing? I feel nothing. What good brushing teeth? I get nothing from it. Where boom boom dust? Looks really hard in pile of carpet for more boom boom.
Essentially drugs reward you for doing nothing. Very enticing for people who feel they are getting no reward for much hard work and hardship. Treated with respect a little reward for lifting 12 ounces or puffing on some burning herb can enhance an otherwise more boring existence. Treated disrespectfully and one can become enslaved to a dopamine altering substance.
An oversimplification . Of course who could address addiction in two paragraphs? Just some insight into the "reward" of substance use.

With respect

When an Andean takes a chew it is customary to throw a few leaves into the wind as an offering. They believe that there crops won't grow without coca. Minerals can not be extracted from the ground without coca. You can read a persons future in coca leaves. Coca is medicinal, provides many vitamins and minerals, can relieve suffering, and can help with altitude sickness. A child can go into a grocery store in Peru or Bolivia and buy coca tea just like any kid in the world can buy coffee or tea. Why? Because they are safe.
Le Junk can you hear me? Almost started cussing right there but for the love of God what do people have to lose? I have been preaching this here for a year and a half. Check my two threads. And I have no evidence that even one person has ordered any coca. People think they are so cutting edge marching lock step with everyone else. Yes Coca, No Cocaine.
So you get the program? Get your coca. Cut out all drugs. Use coca and coca tea as needed. Smoke some bud when you need to relieve aspects of suffering like nausea and loss of appetite or sleeplessness. Respect and give thanks.
And like good fortune I predict the outcome of this treatment will be very positive.
Good luck.
I got to try coca leaf for the first time today. I really like it. I made a big quid - in public people would probably just think its a chaw of tobaco--and found the effect similar to a cup of coffee but a little better, smoother feeling, possibly a better mood pick-me-up.

Smoke some weed dude. REaly i spent 800 dlrs in mexico doing cocaine. in 3 weeks. thats when i was getting 3.6grms for 50dllrs. I almost died from an od.
Now you need some life changing shit sometimes to make you quit.
Get it in your head that your wife will leave you you will be alone and you will die alone man. The fact that she hasnt left isnt doing you any good cuz maybe your just saying yeah she;ll never leave. (hope im wrong.) But i quit yay without counseling my brother did too when he was a yay dealer.
Stop hanging around with your coke buddies. Spend more time with your wife and tell her that if your not with her youre getting coked up. Be honest with yourself dude "SHE WILL FUCKIN LEAVE YOU!!!!" p[lease dont take it the wrong way. im just trying to help you out man. please ive been thru that shit too. Change your friends and avoid all contact with anything that has to do with that and if you cant avoid contact bring your wife with you. Oh and smoke some herb. That helps me out too. dky just does.

yea i did successfully, doesnt mean i dont crave it or desire it day to day...its been about a month now after a 3 month everyday spree up to an 8 ball a night.
THE BEST WAY TO STOP: money drainage screwed me over. In terms of how I did it, I went all out on the last night i planned to do it, doing 5 grams straight in a few hours. by then i felt so bad, so jaded from the abuse, nose bleeding, it made me sick to think of doing it again for a while. It's worked so far, at first depression was insane, but with good social support to keep you occupied (going out to lunch, dinner, going to movies, walking in parks, going to concerts, whatever floats your boat) reminds you that life can be enjoyed substance free. im only 20, you're obviously in a tougher situation, but i help this helped a little bit. All the best luck.

welcome to bluelight

good advice.
after my girlfriend made me realize that it was fuckn my life up, i had to do something n money wasnt the issue then....... it was like an unlimited supply really..., im almost 20 and ive been thru alot of shit, but it was more like a year instead of 3 months.

i jus had to find other things to do, like work my ass off n date alot.
im currently on xanax to deal with my really bad anxiety from this.

How is it going Le junk?

lejunk:

hey mate, how is everything going? Is work good? Did you manage to have fun without cocaine?

tried excercising? It really helps man...

Le Junk first and foremost congratulations on your victory over the evil drug cocaine aswell or atleast I hope your battle on all drugs. What I reccomend is you start going to the gym and lifting weights trust me theres no rush like lifting hard at the gym then coming home and relaxing while your brain pumps endorphins into your body. Also start to eat healthy, I reccomend this because when to start to excercie, workout, and eat good you loose any desire for drugs and alcohol and you'll totally enjoy life aswell as increase your interest in doing sober things. Also I reccomend going out alone or with your wife do and see things you never goto enjoy because you were too high or wanting to be high. Visit, travel, enjoy, and experience the world. I mean your 42 thats quite young:D and you can still develop some muscle.;) Anyways welcome to the wonderful world of sobreity, I'm working on joining you, even though I'm 19 I'm ready to move away from drugs and into reality. Again great job and keep up the great work bro. BTW your 1 lucky motherfucker to have a wife as dedicated as yours damn, I wish I find a girl like yours. How many days strong now?

An important point but I wonder if it is as true as it sounds. Show-biz peple get as much reward from their work as anyone can dream of, and look at how they get hooked on drugs!

I have a personal theory that you get born with a finite capital of happiness/pleasure. To a first approximation, that capital represent a certain number of days or hours in your entire life when you will be happy or feel pleasure. You can spend that capital either by living normally and cashing it little by little; or by spending lots of it at a time, like when doing drugs. The difference between sober people and drug-doing people is basically one of spending behaviour. I wish the law-makers would see it my way and leave us in peace with our addictions or lack of it.

Yes. Everybody is susceptible to substance abuse. However ,miserable people are more susceptible. By miserable people I mean people who feel they get little reward for their work. This may be housewives, the poor, undereducated, the persecuted. Think Indians on reservations, blacks in apartheid S. Africa, Aborigines in Australia.
I agree that the laws do more harm than the substances. Join the Drug Policy Alliance, Norml, Law Enforcement against prohibition-LEAP.
