I hope this isn't the case. I was kind of excited for him to read this thread and see that he was quitting. I hope he updates us on how he's doing. Even if he's had a relapse, it would still be good to know how he is doing.

No, no, no! I've been off of cocaine for 41 days now. However, I've done ecstasy once in that time period, but I've never had a problem with that, nor will I ever. It's not something I crave, and can choose the time and place in which I decide to use it. Cocaine was the monkey I was looking to rid my life of. And so far, I've followed thru.

Now, in the beginning I did experiment with opiates as a way to ease away from cocaine, but have since abandoned that project with the multiple advice of fellow Bluelight opiate addicts. Not something I needed to get addicted to in replacement of cocaine.

So yes, I'm doing great. But thanks for your concern. I WILL let you know when and if I ever do fall off of the wagon, but as of yet, not really anymore cravings.

how about you just keep letting us know THAT you HAVEN'T fallen off the proverbial wagon; am very happy to hear that you're still coke-free.

this really is a great gift you've given yourself.

socko is right on the spot, lift heavy ass weights, 42 you are young, you can get VERY fit, and its interesting how much less susceptible to addiction the fit body is...

one question though if i may lejunk, given that as you are saying (and can confirm:P) cocaine has very few drowback if its good quality, what made you want to drop it? How did it interfere with your life? Im asking to protect my self mainly:)

is there anyone here that can use cocaine ONLY for its pleasures? I.e not binge or not binge TOO often if it does? Are there any chronic users that didnt end up abusers?

Yes there are, in countries where it's dirt cheap and widely available. In Peru or Colombia eg the percentage of users is stable and usage is usually chronic but not massive. Some people do half a line after lunch, much like we do coffee or tea. Others do a few lines on Saturday night. Of course since those countries have had cocaine for centuries, there may be genetic factors that favour mild usage rather than bingeing, I don't know.

My theory is that many people binge and get hooked because of the prohibition and the limited availability: if there's good coke to be had, they buy it because tomorrow there may be a shortage. So the pattern is one of buying and stocking as much as possible regardless, and hiding while doing it, which is also conducive to addiction.

Good question! Well, as you can probably tell from most of my posts, cocaine began to completely consume me. I spent nearly 5 years trying to perfect the entire cleaning process, and in that process, spent nearly all of my time and money, either talking about cocaine, or doing cocaine. All in all, over the past 5years, I've spent probably somewhere in excess of $100K.....easily on just cocaine alone.

My old MO used to be binges that would last for two or three days, and then I'd take 3-4 days off. Over the course of the last 5 years, I began doing something I always said I'd never do, and that was start using every single day. Old interests started taking a backseat to my use of cocaine. I'd just stay in and do coke all day long. My work, and obviously my marraige started to takes it's toll. My nestegg started to disappear right before my very eye's, and I just kept on doing it.

So, for you and all others out there, the warning signs are your usage picking up slowly, your old favorite interests lose their luster, you start talking about it all the time, your relationships take a back seat to your cocaine, and you start looking like shit. You start running out of money and your best friends/wife etc. may actually tell you you've got a problem. If this happens, you do!

Just be careful, it's a creeper. Any changes in your lifestyle due to cocaine use, is an early warning sign of problems ahead. PLUR.

That's good news lejunk! For me, the first 30 days after quitting gave me the worst cravings. I agree with everybody about exercise. I took up weight lifting and bicycling and those 2 sports helped me a lot. After the first month, mad cravings gradually lost their edge and are much easier to deal with.
I don't know if anybody can relate to this one, but I tried it again several more times since quitting, once each time and spaced maybe 1 year apart each time. But I never felt the original euphoria those last several times. All it did was make me edgy, shaky, and crave more. No pleasure, and afterwards, I was disgusted that I had debauched myself. Maybe I've burned out.

If you already know this, just ignore this paragraph. LeJunk already explained it, but I think I can offer some information that might still be interesting and that some people might not know--- Even pure cocaine still has some serious health-related risks. It raises blood pressure and increases heart rate, putting stress on your cardiovascular system. Depending on how susceptible you are to this kind of stress and how often and how much you use, it might or might not cause some permanent damage to your heart. A guy I knew recently died of heart failure -- but he was an extreme example and he had been using it heavily every day for a while and would go to work visibly strung out on it all the time. It also depletes your body of vitamins and minerals. Go on longer binges and you end up dehydrated, sleep-deprived, stressed, and not eating healthy foods, hence the dissipated, haggard look that is common after a binge.
I can relate to the comment about wanting it because it's prohibited. It used to make me feel like i had to buy it and hoard it because the dealer would be out soon and might not get any more for a long time.

wow! 100k is ALOT of money, to think that swim has spend something like 1000 up untill now (and for that 1000 euros actually more on dollars he used in totall less than 1.5gr once he trew the stuff away because it was pure crap after reading lejunk for the first time, second time his dealer got cought by the cops before delivering the product:p) so all in all swim has done 1.5gr in six months and that cost him like 1500E/gram, damn he got riped off:p

out of curiocity, did the aceton wash was your cleaning method or did you routinely made the HCL->freebase->HCL convertion? Actually i have come to the understanding that other alcaloids contained in "impure" cocaine help mellow out the high.

anyhow, getting out of topic.

SWIM is mostly making the pact with his dealer that he will only be buying once every six months no more than 10gr each time. Its mostly a self constrain thing, but it kind of works.

ok, other questions:

lejunk and others, would you say you have overal addictive behaviours? I.e. do you overdo other things (women, gamble, tobbaco, alhcohol, excercise whatever)? Do you smoke cigaretes and/or drink coffee routinely?

how did you justify your use given that you knew beforhand what cocaine can do? I mean, le junk you know prety much all there is to know about it, so why did you let it get out of hand? Did the paranoia get you? How much did you use in a day before quiting?

sorry if i bombard you with questions, not many people have gone through what you have. Btw, have you started finding pleasure in other thing now? How fast did that happen? if at all?

good for you that your trying to get off it on your own. i was pretty much forced to get off it after being arrested last month for it and put in jail for a week till i could get bonded out. then once i got out i got stuck on a drug test thing where i call 2 times a week and i have a color and when i call if its my color i have to test. Its one of those lab tests so there is no tricking that. Stay clean and stay strong man.

Man I second that brother. I wonder how many people have said the words..."that will not happen to me, or I will not let it get out of control." I started playing around and next thing you know I am doing 3 day/night constant binges. Only to get to feeling better and then start it all over again. After a while, its all that matters. New plasma TV? Not interested, concerts, friends, anything that tears you away from the lines is not acceptable.

It got disgusting, I got disgusted with myself. It consumes you as you said. It's a little over 6 weeks for me now, with a two line relapse about a week ago. It's power is amazing.

hey man, how is everything going? Still sober and good? Hopefully yes?

epote and ITCHY,

Yes, I'm still sober from blow and doin' great! I drop an occasional tab of E just to stay in the "drug club", but it's nothing habit forming and have been doing E since it was great, back in '86. But thanks for asking and I'll always keep you guys posted............

I've never been addicted to coke myself, but I have a very close friend that does. after using for approx 10 years she's now clean for one month, simply from going to NA meetings. Now that's not to say she won't relapse in a couple months, kinda like you after your counseling, because the coke addiction is so damn strong. and for certain people, and obviously yourself, the high from cocaine is just SO enjoyable that it is practically impossible to stay away from. I don't really like the high myself.

Anyway, try the NA meetings...get a sponsor. Don't hang with anyone that is connected to cocaine in any way. Don't drink, well at least for me because drinking is the only time I actually do want coke, so it seems since alcohol lowers your inhibition your always going to cop that sack once you get drunk.

good luck Le Junk.

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement! So far, so good, but I'll let you know when I fall off of the wagon, if and when I do. But let's hope not!

Le Junk

yes le junk, please do, no one here is going to judge obviously, cause we know how it, is, we will just help out:)

the high from cocaine is just SO enjoyable that it is practically impossible to stay away from.

the high from cocaine is enjoyable obviously, but the worst thing about cocaine is the possitive reinforcemt feelings, its just like food, it tends to overide rational thinking, ignore the sighns and just do it.

well SWIM is seeing the signs right now, so he will try to abstain for a couple of weeks. After all, do it to frequently, and its not as good, is it now?

le junk:

a couple of more questions:

how is everything with your misses?
how was your initial pattern of use? I mean, how much did you do the first couple of years and when did that escalate and why didnt you stop it?

Wow..I do not know how I missed this one! Say it ain't so as they say but I totally commisserate, stimulant use is a short end addiction and I know you have been hitting it long and hard. Good for you man. I do have some papers on promising methodology but they are back in NYC, and a bit in Israel. I will get some fast and send it via pm in case you have left this thread alone. I will also post them here for others' benefit as well. Hang in there man.
