not long now, got tickets to Saturday and Monday's Brisbane shows....hell yeah!

Wazza, if I had just one of those albums I would be happy! Pity you're in Vic as I would get something signed for you.

damn chomped i would of love to get them for me and my gf but im seating on Saturday and pit Monday night :(

^ No worries, at least you're going!!

Two shows will be good too as they seem to be mixing up the set list a bit!

No Leaf Clover and Breadfan was played in Auckland last night!

Um....two more sleeps!!!!

I'm going to be lame and get a new copy of Death Magnetic signed, CD and cover. Then I'll mount it with one of the awesome pictures I'm going to have taken with the band! Easier to stash somewhere before it gets messy in the pit!

yeah i joined the fanclub just to get tickets hahaha! Last nights setlist in Auckland included Orion! I really want them to play and justice for all fade to black and the unforgiven tomorrow or MOnday!

Orion.....OMG!!!

How cool. They must play it in Brisbane!!!

The countdown is on...this time tomorrow I will be preparing to head to the Entertainment Centre to MEET the band!

Then I'll get drunk. :-)

This is how last night went down...

Arrived at Brisbane Entertainment Centre at 4.30pm. I actually arrived earlier but asked my girlfriend to take me to the bottle shop as I needed to have just one beer to calm my nerves. The rules in the Meet and Greet say that you are not allowed any alcohol before or during the M&G. However I was so bloody nervous I needed the edge taken off so had a cheeky little (1L) beer before I headed in. It worked. Felt much better and ready to meet Metallica!

We all met in the ticket office and got checked off the list. There were 16 club members in all. Everyone was showing their excitement in different ways. Some were loud and proud, others like me were quietly talking about what we were getting signed and other music we were in to.

They gave us passes, checked our tickets and put us in a very small room. We had to stand in single file around the walls and not move from our spots. We were allowed two items signed and one photo with our own camera with each member. Rob was first. He was really cool. He had just had a surf down the coast so was chatting about that and making any other small talk we initiated with him. All his photos will be sick as he looks right down the camera and fully looks the part.

Each band member was with us about 20 to 30 mins each. Kirk was next. He was right into a couple of the guitars some of the guys brought. However he wouldn't sign skin at all, although we knew that before he was brought in. A bloke asked him to sign the Aussie flag on his t shirt. Kirk declined saying it was poor form to deface the flag (Rob had just signed it!), and just signed above it. He seems to have pretty good morals about life in general really and you can tell he's lived a healthier life than the other guys as he still looks really young! He brought a MASSIVE body guard in with him. Rob came by himself.

Next was James. Man that guy is pretty solid! He is darker than all the other guys but I sort of knew that already. You have to be to be lead singer of Metallica! Either way, it was great just being around the guy. He has presence like no other person I've met. I had a good chat with him about Death Magnetic. However I was definitely star struck! I'm no alcoholic but a few more beers before the event would have worked wonders on me!

Last was Lars. He was the most personable of them all. I was really surprised! I thought he might be all arty and weird but totally the opposite. He initiated conversation with every person he met and really seemed interested in what you said to him. Plus he involved the whole room in each meet and greet, adding little jokes, questions and general chat. He even remembered nearly the whole rooms names after meeting us all. Impressive! He had a cute lady with him, maybe his manager? I'm not quite sure.

And then it was over. I had a poster and cd signed, it's getting framed and mounted then straight to the pool room! And of course the awesome photos I have with them will be framed accordingly!

I only managed 4 quick fire beers before the show started but that was great as I didn't have to leave for the toilet for the whole set. It was hard core, loud, varied, and perfect!

I was really close to the rail but it doesn't really matter where you are just as long as you are near a mic. They move all around the stage so you get to see everyone as close as you like. They opened with That was Just your life and then proceeded to play a Best Of collection of Metallica songs from Death Magnetic to Kill Em All.

Crowd was right into it and so was Metallica.

At the end of the show, after Seek and Destroy, they stayed around to throw out heaps of picks, lars gave away some sticks, and they kicked all the balls that fell from the ceiling in to the crowd.

Such a great night!!! I'm heading back on Tuesday with my friends and girl. Will be good to experience it with people I know and also to have a few more drinks before this show!

Cool man... especially how you seem like such a strong Metallica fan :)

That's heaps lucky for you!

Good to see you enjoyed it. I had an AWESOME time when I saw them play in the 80s... More so too as I was a HUUUUUUGE fan back then, like play them at least 5-10 hours a day (listened to them at school, I used to EXCEL, like get 100% for most classes so teachers let me listen to my headphones lots) and always played them (as well as bathory, slayer + venom in mid 80s) for my post school listening music :P

Just finished tonight. Fuck yeah James!!!!

Awesome. Gf loved her first heavy metal gig, I got a pick (thanks to my mate), and they played Orion.

Great times. Oh, it was my birthday too so extra special.

Fuck it all and fuck it no regrets!
:-)

^^ Good stuff (again) :D Yay to seeing Orion dude, nice nice nice!

And hehe to Damage Inc, I had a damage inc t-shirt, prolly in 86 or 87 that I wore religiously and it had "Honesty is my only excuse" and my mum used to get hell giggles out of that with/about me :P Great times! Oh, the love of riding the train to Melbourne to go to "Metal for Melbourne" when it was in the 'good spot' (near Flinders station), searching through milk crates of bootleg albums, AWESOME.... I was working one day a week earning between $500-$1000 cash in hand so all my money went on school lunches, music + drugs (oh and metal tshirts/clothes). Once again, good times :D

I'm chucking on Master Of Puppets loud in your dedication :D :D :D

^^Haha good shit!

I'd love to see Damage Inc Live.....ah well....maybe in 7 more years!

I wouldn't mind that job now! Sure beats my 7-5'er I have now....

Here is last nights set list....a bit different than usual that's for sure!

The Four Horsemen
Ride The Lightning
The Thing That Should Not Be
The Unforgiven
Harvester Of Sorrow
I Disappear
Sad But True
No Leaf Clover
Orion
One
Master Of Puppets

Nothing Else Matters
Enter Sandman
- - - - - - - -
Blitzkrieg
My Apocalypse
Seek and Destroy

^ They left Blackened off the set list from the first night. I would have missed that tbh

^If I only went one night and I missed it I would be annoyed. However I'm happy they mixed up the set list as I got to see 27 different songs played over two nights so pretty stoked!

I don't know if it was my imagination or it was actually happening, but on both nights I stood to the front left of the stage, in between the two mics. Although they move around the stage all night, it seemed to me to be the best place to be as it got most action. Is definitely worth a try for the next gigs in other cities!

Saw them on the 18th, I missed the support acts but Metallica themselves were worth the effort =D

Set list:

That Was Just Your Life (probably the only song of the night I didn't enjoy - sound levels were off or something? was just... meh)
Cyanide
Creeping Death
The Memory Remains
One
The God That Failed
No Remorse
Sad But True
Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
And Justice For All
The Day That Never Comes
Master of Puppets
Battery
Nothing Else MAtters
Enter Sandman

Encore:
Stone Cold Crazy - cover
Motorbreath
Seek and Destroy

I'm not seeing them until the 11th next month, and this tour is confusing the shit out of me. Are they just going around the country 3 or so times? You would think it would make more sense to do consecutive shows in individual cities.

^ Yeh I think at least half of the shows on this tour were added after the original planned ones sold out so quickly, hence it's a bit all-over-the-place.

You shouldn't be dissapointed though, for their age these guys still rock!!!!

\m/

^ They're not exactly Rolling Stones old.

I agee with LP. I nearly shit myself a few weeks back when someone told me they went to the Metallica show last night. I thought I had fucking missed it. Turns out I have tickets for the same event in the same location a good 7 weeks later and I purchased my ticket several weeks before this person had...wtf!
