Mushroom Season 2011 UK / Ireland / Anywhere else

there are a fair few images building up in this thread too accidentalmonkey if you go back......the one's you got are nothing like the ones you want.

The best way to do it is to go out picking with someone who knows what they look like, there is NO SUBSTITUTE for field work.....half an hour with someone who knows exactly what they look like, and growth habitats, signs to help you decide whether it's worth going into the field in the first place, is worth more than any number of days/weeks trawling the internet and looking at photos.....

Once you've done it once, you won't have any problems instantly recognising what to take, and what to ignore/discard.

You must know someone who can take you out ( not just some blagger who reckons he always gets binbags full, but you've never seen any of said binbags).
 
the last two days ive been out to find shrooms but all ive found is about 80. wtf is going on? last week i found hundreds.
 
^errrr, that's about 5 days wait, not 5 years i think..I think the link is saying that there was no loss in potency after 5 years in the "liqueur"

You're right, I don't know how I missed that. I'll definitely give that a go, never tried anything but desiccant before to preserve them. Just that little pesky problem of finding them first....

hello there people. worried this heat is going to be followed by early frosts, in one wild swing in the weather. might that be curtains for the year? just those pesky strictipes and p-foes showing lately. i came on to this fine site to gague the findings of others - very uselful stuff. i will update after my next foray into the cuds - not much good in this weather though, surely?

i'm interested in what you do to make the shroom liquor, my friend has a batch of cubensis on the grow and i'd like to try a different method of storage than drying them out. did you get this from a TEK online or is this a mailmonkey invention?

also a recommendation of which alcohol to use would also be spiffing.

I've found grinding the dried shrooms up and putting them in honey works really well for. Found no apparent loss of potency over the course of a year, coupled with just having to eat a tablespoon of sweet, sweet honey as opposed to chewing manky dried strawy things that strike your gag reflex with seemingly unwarranted aggression.

I think i'll give this a test run as well make some FUNNYHONEY, just grind the mushrooms down when dried and dump them in honey and mix? which type of honey do you use?
 
re Mailmonkey's shroom-alcho-pop concoction, i intend to the exact same thing with my cubensis, watsons. when you find his post, can you quote it?

Okay, I used Turkish Raki, cos I had a bottle, and it has a strong flavour to mask the shroom taste. Prob more efficient to use a high strength rum, Woods or similar.

I think I used about 1500-2000 shrooms for the whole bottle. Fresh is best, cos then they not just soaking up the liquid contet.

Just sort of chop the shrooms roughly, put them in the bottom of a big mixing bowl, and pour the raki over.

cover with a plate (you could use clingfilm but then it's a pain in the arris removing it and replacing it every time you mash it up) or something, keep it in a dark place, not sure if this is necessary, but that's what I did.

Every now and then, every time you're passing the place where it's stored if poss, give the whole thing a good press and mash with a potato masher.

After a few days, FILTER the liquid off, and you'll have a browny, but not cloudy, delicious shroom raki. Also make sure you squeeze and squeeze the pulp to get all the goodies out.

You could also try, though I never bothered, resoaking the pulp in a smaller quantity of spirit, filtering and pressing to get some more out, not sure if it would be worth it, depends how many shrooms you got I suppose.....

It stores well, it was still as potent the following spring as it was at Halloween (not sure about longer term), and once you've worked out your dose, is a very consistent way to get where you want to be.

Everyone who tried it agreed it was MUCH FASTER hitting, really incredibly so, I think this was prob cos the alcohol carried the psilocybins etc into your blood stream much quicker than a tea, or chewed up dried shrooms.

Also think there would be some antibacterial property to the alcohol, certainly if you used a high proof rum, caused much less stomach issues than eating the shrooms neat.

ALSO, if you did use rum and store it in the same bottle, nobody would be any the wiser if they noticed it on your shelf.

There's probably more I could remember, but it's been a long time, and I think i got most the salient points across. It's a piece of fucking piss to do, I dunno why I've never met anyone else who does it....I took a half sized whisky bottle of it out to a party years ago, people just having swigs out the bottle on dancefloor, place went nuts 8( , specialy the people who didn't or weren't capable of hearing me properly when I said it was a shroom concoction, just thought I was offering them a drink of scotch or something.

Try it, you won't be disappointed, you'l never be having mushroom tea or omelettes again!

EDIT>>>>I really can't remember the timescale, where i say to let it mulch for a few days....i think 3, 4 , 5 days or something, but not sure.....If you do a second soak for a weaker brew it shouldn't matter anyway.
 
I've got access to infinite free mushrooms all year round and i usually just dry and grind them into 00 size gelcaps, works a treat but i'm always open to trying new storage methods(apart from omelette's - that can get to fuck), I'll be trying it out next weekend after the first flush, i've got some untouched ouzo in the liquor cabinet and thats a bit like raki so i think i'll give that a try, thanks for typing all that out man you're the fucking tits :)

Ouzo should work a treat, i really think that strong aniseed flavour works well....

and if you got access all year round you won't be having the problem of gritty bits all over them, so the honey might be nice....no, actualy , it still won't be "nice", maybe acceptable, for sure it won't damage the potency or anthing, but you not getting the advantage of the rocket ship superfast come-up....

Make sure you make it potent, don't go fannying around with a few in there.....

We also used to grind them to swallow, but only in rizla, not in gelcaps....it's surprising how much you can dose when it really finely ground and pressed.

I still got mates who swear by mushroom tea....One very very good old friend goes off and makes a 500 shroom brew for him and his mate, I tell him it damages the actives, as well as tasting rank etc, but he says, "well we always get twatted off it". He fuckin tried the raki brew years ago too and loved it.

Let us know how the shroom-zo goes anyway!

Had shrooms this way before and it's such a simpler way to get them down you, much easier to dose too!
