Panaeolus (Copelandia) cyanescens is most commonly dubbed the 'blue meanie'

This species is a warm climate dung inhabiting species which is rarely found in northern W.A during the rainy season and most commonly found in nth NSW/s.e QLD

In your area you are after Psilocybe Subaeruginosa aka 'gold tops'. This species is also called blue meanies by some people who find badly oxidized specimens which are bruised dark blue.

I recommend naming all mushrooms by their genus to avoid confusion and to help school other hunters

Hey guys went to my usual spot this morn, cow paddock and usually good for cubies. Brisbane area..
Just a question if anyone can help. There has been some rain around and there were a dozen or so cubes there but there were heaps and heaps of pats with very small ones just starting to grow.
I have never really noticed so many small ones before and wondering if these babies will be good to go in the next couple of days? or is it longer?

They usually don't last longer than a day or so, particularly if it's raining heavily. Realise though, small ones can be just as potent.

Smaller ones are more potent. Aborts (the ones that never reach full maturity) will always be the most potent as they stop growing but they still produce equal amounts of psilocybin/cin and baeocystin.

Cheers for that guys. These ones were really really small (less than 1cm) and there were 5-10 per cow pat. Also another thing they were a slightly translucent colour. I've just never seen them at this early stage.

Please be careful wordup

They could even be another species...

Only ingest them if you can confirm they are Cubensis through more than 2 sources

I like to pick my Subs around the 2-3 day old mark. The most potent Subs are those which are just breaking the viel away from the stem and have the least bluing (bluing is oxidization of the psilocybin)

Cheers Psilo, definatly will be checking them on shroomery if things are looking a little suss.. Thanks again for the advice

Hey guys, I'm pretty new to the whole mushroom scene, but i found these on my front lawn and was wondering if they where anything poisonous or hopefully some psilocybe :)
The slugs got at them a bit though

[EDIT: Please visit the Shroomery for ID's as they will not be provided in this thread]

Sorry man, I was just wondering on your opinion on them.

I'm getting IDs on them at the same time as well and cross-referencing them.

Are the gills on the bottom supposed to be purple/black?
