Mushroom season 2010

I have never heard of "golden teachers" so can not comment on that particular strain. I know that any shrooms you are dosing 5 grams of at once and not expecting visuals are very fucking weak unless you have considerable tolerance, well weak compared to the psilocybe subaeruginosa I am used to. Subaeruginosa is a potent strain but I was under the impression that even with weaker strains like cubensis 3.5 grams should be more than enough for an average individual to get visuals.

Yeah I would say ive got abit of tolerance, those GT were a fresher batch then what I usually get so im guessing that played a big part in effects.

You folk in melb are damn lucky shrooms pop up so easily after rains, during the right time of season. Some of the pics people have posted up in earlier pages of batches they've collected after hunts are just insane, and it's all free 8o

I see gold tops get thrown around alot between diff strains. The normal shrooms I get have gold tops, and these golden teachers had very similar gold tops aswell.

I did google golden teachers and came up with discussion on them when I got the batch.

The slang gold tops does seem to be interchangable among strains of species of psilocybes, basically if the cap is a colour that is even close to yellow/gold and it is psychoactive you can bet many idiots are going around calling them "gold tops". Slang names like this are misleading and imho should be avoided, it is best to refer to mushrooms by their proper name so people know exactly what they are getting.

A taxon is made of two parts. First, there is the genus, which is a general name given to a group of closely related plants. Second, there is the species, which is a distinguishing name given to a specific plant in that group.

A taxon is always written in italics. Thus for example Psilocybe Subaeruginosa and Psilocybe Cubensis are the names of common Australian psychedelic mushrooms of the genus Psilocybe

Naming animals, plants, fungi and cacti by their taxon will stem any confusion caused by nicknaming and should be used in this thread when identifying mushrooms.

Where I grew up everyone called subs Gold Tops. I learned the real name 18 years later. Some guys I know from QLD call cubes Gold Tops as well.

Cubes and Subs are both also called Blue Meanies in some circles and some people are seriously willing to fight over the fact that blue meanies only come from XYZ according to them.

That's Charnwood for you though.

That's Charnwood for you though.

lolz i can appreciate that comment ;)

I have heard the mushrooms around my area (Psilocybe Subaeruginosa) called blue meanies but most people i know call them subs

"Today, a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration — that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There is no such thing as death; life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves... Here's Tom with the weather!"

By the Late Great Bill Hicks

Oh bill hicks =D what a legend, recently just discovered him and was watching some of his old material. I love the way he uses comedy to argue his points about drug prohibition etc.

The season for me is basically over, patches are producing next to nothing and when they do the frost just kills them.

How come we don't get subs growing when it starts to get warm again (melbourne) before spring fully hits?

This is a very good question. One that I hope to definitively answer in coming years.

We do get some small activity as it starts to heat back up from the peak of winter, but there is never the massive patches like those found during autumn.

I have asked some well respected mycologists about this and none of them can agree on one theory.

I proposed that the lack of activity is caused by the difference in the length of day light hours, humidity and temperature variations not being as optimal in early spring.

Late autumn is definitely the peak of Psilocybe Subaeruginosa season.

I will get to the bottom of this question eventually

From today's Age. I wonder what the "commercial quantity" of psilocybin entails? 8)

Magic mushrooms, hallucinogens seized in raid
MEGAN LEVY
July 22, 2010 - 7:42AM

A man will face court today charged with drug trafficking offences after a police seized magic mushrooms, hallucinogens and cannabis in a raid south-east of Melbourne last night.

Another man is also facing firearms charges after Bass Coast detectives and Wonthaggi police executed a search warrant in More Street, Leongatha about 6pm.

A Victoria Police spokeswoman said officers seized magic mushrooms, cannabis, liquid drugs, a large quantity of cash and a firearm from the home.

The estimated street value of the drug haul is not yet known.

Stuart Barns, Leongatha, was charged last night with trafficking a commercial quantity of the hallucinogen psilocybin, trafficking cannabis, possessing hydroxybutanoic acid (GHB) and possessing amphetamines.

The 34-year-old faced an out-of-sessions hearing last night and was remanded in custody to appear at the Korumburra Magistrates Court today.

Police said a 43-year-old Leongatha man is expected to be charged on summons with possessing an unregistered firearm and related offences.

I wonder if they were grown indoor or just subs from outdoors.

I've been hearing about some ridiculous prices being asked for subs in Vic and SA. It's sad that people will pay for such easily obtainable fungi and that dealers will charge top dollar for them.

Don't try to cash in on psychs and you wont have to deal with Mr. Plod.

^ These prices are nothing new, for whatever reason people will pay more for a dose of an easily obtainable fungus than a dose of high grade LSD. I don't really get it, I mean there is a common perception natural drugs are better for you, we all know this is a flawed idea but many still believe it.

I have always been amazed at how uncertain 90% of people are in themselves and their ability to pick but these same people will trust a stranger at the drop of a hat that they know wtf they are talking about. I never got shrooms off anyone else, I know what I know and what my abilities are, I trust myself with my life a lot more than I trust some random joker who *might* know a sub from a galerina.

This isn't the first year a few trippers realised for the small cost of setting up a dry chamber and the mild effort to go picking once or twice a week they can make a killing on those who are not confident enough to pick themselves. I really don't have a problem with it, so long as the people selling take precautions to ensure the shrooms they pick are active and do their bit to inform the end user exactly what they are consuming. The fact of the matter is that some people can't be fucked learning to do it themself and would rather pay someone who can be bothered a small fortune for a few doses. In an ideal world the only way one would get access to drugs like magic mushrooms would be through dedicated reading on how to pick and ID them, as well as basic precautions to take whilst tripping, sadly this is never likely to be the case.

^Well said.

I currently have someone bugging me to go out and pick some for them because they really want to try them but they can't be fucked picking their own. This guy is a beef head, muscled up arrogant male stripper who has never done a psychedelic in his life and talks about how much he loves to laugh at people on acid. He has decided he wants to try shrooms but isn't interesting whatsoever in learning a single thing about them. People like this piss me the hell off - especially considering i offered for my husband and i to take him out for a pick to educate him, but nope - he told me it would be far easier for HIM if i just go pick them, prepare them and he'll pay me for it. Pfft, naturally i declined as i have far too much respect for this fungi to just hand it over to some bozo who has no respect for anyone or anything.

I have forwarded him links to try and educate him, but he simply said he just wasn't interested in learning, doesn't have the time nor can he simply be fucked doing all the reading when i already have.... :\

Since i have said no, he has proceeded to message me telling me that if he goes hunting now because he is desperate and picks the wrong ones and dies it will be all my fault. Pfft fucking wanker. Last time i heard adults should take responsibility for themselves. 8)

^ I have been in similar situations in the past, it is laughable this idiot would try and scapegoat you for whatever may happen to him due to his own ignorance, such immaturity proves psychedelics are likely a bad idea for him in the first place.

Personally, when faced with a similar situation, I always thought it best to just supply the ignorant fool and make an effort to try and convey the psychedelic experience is not one that should be taken lightly hoping they eventually take it on board before dosing. I felt that if somebody wants to trip they are going to find a way, so my refusal to assist them in their acquisition of psychedelics is not really going to eliminate the harm that person can do to themselves. On the other hand there is a reasonable chance they could do a half arsed attempt at earning to pick and poison themselves, atleast I know their liver isn't going to fail out thanks to the shrooms I am picking.

Obviously thats a personal decision that will vary from person to person, the knowledgable picker certainly has no responsibility to provide the ignorant with powerful psychedelics, and to be fair I would be a liar if I claimed HR was the only motivating factor behind my decision. Hopefully if the idiot in question opts to go out and pick his own he actually learns a thing or two before hand.

These types fall hardest when they finally do get around to trying powerful psychedelics.

I have seen a few arrogant meat heads change their ways after getting an ass kicking from fungi.

You just can't help everyone and not everyone needs to experience it any way.

I could not agree more psilo.

I managed to find a healthy garden bed patch yesterday, wasn't even out on the look for shrooms. The rest of the patches though had nothing today.
