Yeah I just checked weatherzone http://www.weatherzone.com.au/vic/central/greenvale . The conditions for this week seem perfect, might go sometime next week or the week after and see if I can find anything. I live near the Melbourne Airport around that area, we have a national woodlands park nearby. Would that be a good place to look?

Anywhere with trees of the Pine variety is a good place to start, but they also grow well in eucalypt/woodchip areas. You've got nothing to lose by looking! :)

Repress, I have always found woodchipped areas to be the best bet over areas with pine trees. Where I used to live basically any woodchipped area would have shrooms, if you knew where to go there was thousands throughout the season consistently at the same patches.

I think I may know a spot to find them. Shall be searching for a while me thinks, have no experience what so ever. So keen though

drug-mentor I agree, I went last year to a huge pine forestation park of some sort and found only non-active mushrooms... and this park is huge, I looked everywhere.

On the other hand only a few kms from my place I know of a small little wetlands area with a garden like setup full of mulch.... there is a large spot of psilocybe producing mushrooms growing right there on the mulch... a couple of meters away there are a few pine trees and heaps of the pine on the ground..... nothing but non-actives on that part.

So I would go and look on mulch areas... I think you would have better luck there.

Plus finding mulch areas are easier than finding pine areas, oh yeah and ive tried the dandenong mountains to no avail... the place is just bush with all sorts of non-actives, im sure there would be some growing there but trying to find some would take you a very long time, or maybe I just havent had any luck where ive been looking.

I'm going to organise a trek to the blue mountains in the next month or so. 3 hours drive for a few mushrooms better fucking be worth it :P

I found a few on my front lawn this morning, two different types. One is pretty flat on the top and the others are really round and white. I'll take some pictures and get some ID's tomorrow morning if i can. Are we allowed to link to our shroomery ID threads in here?

Bit of rain my my area today. Some scheduled for tomorrow and sunday too.
Might have a peek around on Sunday.

Well i'll put it this way;
The national park near my house has all it's species of plants and fungii listed and the places where they grow on the website. They have Subs listed as a fungii that grows within the park, but by law they can't publish where Subs grow, but they publish what they grow with.etc.

Fill in the blanks.

;)

Yep just heard from a mate he found some on the mornington penisula (s/e suburbs of melbourne)

Will be a great weekend by the sounds of things

aaaarrrggggh.

i need to hunt down my shroom contact.
lost a whole paper bag full one time when i decided not to leave it in my car while it was getting serviced, in case. ended up dropping the damn thing somewhere inside a shopping plaza :!
woe.

psilo - how common are blue meanies in the southern parts?

I have never seen Blue Meanies (Copelandia Cyanescens) growing or picked in southern Australia.

I've met plenty of people who say they've had them and can find them but never seem to come up with the goods.

I hate when people call bruised subs blue meanies :!

Travel around the globe and you'll find alot of people call their local psilocybe mushroom species "blue meanies"

Yeah 'blue meanies' are quite common here in nz (from the top they look like white puff balls, but once you pick them they bruise blackish blue - very potent), but that is because there are alot of damp/dismal weather areas, especially the alpine mountains.. Ive come across them in the middle of a busy intersection amongst a bark garden! did have some pics, but will try find some this year, hopefully lol it usually starts from now till june.

Sure you're not talking about pouch fungi?

Would it be too early to go looking in Adelaide after the weekend rains? Haven't done it before but want to.
