The southern Australian psychedelic fungi season is kicking off.

Yesterday i received reports of rotting P. Subaeruginosa found in Melbourne's S.E Suburbs.

I have now confirmed several pickings from this area early last week after heavy autumn rains, early morning frosts and moisture staying on the ground untill mid afternoon or not evaporating at all.

Most patches will not fruit for a few more weeks but there is the chance of the odd find for the enthusiastic hunter with time and energy to burn.

NO MUSHROOM IDENTIFICATION IN THIS THREAD (visit www.shroomery.org for I.D's)

Respect nature

Respect your body

Respect the mushroom spirit

DO NOT HUNT ON PRIVATE PROPERTY! I know farmers/wood chipped garden bed property owners who are fed up with randoms entering their property in search of subs.

There's plenty of parks and forests to search in and we don't need to be seen/caught trespassing with bags full of illegal fungi

I will do my best to answer questions and dispell the myths of the mystical mushroom

Happy hunting

Haha Psilo, the last thing on my mind before bed was to get the 2009 thread kicking up again..great minds think alike ^^

As for SE-Q...think its still getting a little to hot..its starting to get cold at night though so will be going for the first pick soon...keep yas posted.

Also one question, can someone *please* explain to me how the seasons work? Is it that they only fruit at a certain time? Or need pretty perfect conditions...im constantly bombarded by "OMG someones been here first and picked out this entire field" "Nah man, its outta season" "huh??"

Also, what mushies have been found in SE-Q/Northern NSW? Ive only ever found P. Cubensis and Blue meanies...do we get P. Subaeruginosa or anything up our way?

Yay for mushrooms, this will be my first year picking and i can't wait. :D

Why is it though that you can get mushrooms in northern NSW, southern NSW but not anywhere inbetween? :(

This time last year they were up all over the penninsula so i half expected there was already an 09 shroom thread but it wasn't to be...

Would love to go into detail about season's and species right now but i'm going for a drive to see if i can't get a few pics up here today

Fingers crossed :)

Went for a bit of a hunt 2 or 3 weeks ago with no luck, It's definitely cooling down so here's to hoping for some decent rain :) Might head out again shortly

Nice Sustanon :D
I have travelled to the South West of WA before in search, but only ever found non active. Even still, it is totally awesome just chilling walking through forests and examining the plants around me :) I am normally not the hippie type but it makes me really happy. Especially after it has just rained and is humid and cool.

^ I'll hopefully be heading down to south west WA soon for my first hunt. Should be good fun.

Are there any WA specific things to look for in a spot? ie, particular tree species etc
seems like south west WA would be a pretty good environment for shrooms

^ I was thinking the same thing for the long weekend. But I've never done it before, is there a guide anywhere which shows what types to get and what to avoid?

Hey Sustanon, what type of shrooms are they?.....are they fresh?

There cubes and there dried. Got sum pan cyans, azurs and philosopher stones too. There all pretty good :)

I wouldnt recommend picking them at all if u dont have any knowledge on them. U have to know all the info on them otherwise ull end up in a grave somewhere lol

Ok, so I think its important to get some rules in place before the season really kicks in.

I've taken these from last years thread, the guidelines were written by fry-d, and they seem to work well.

Lets set some rules from the start.

No asking for ID's.

No asking for spots to search or places to hunt.

If this thread gets long like the last few have, make sure you completely read it and search the old ones so we don't have to keep repeating the same information over and over.

Lets try and keep it all together in one thread.

...and remember this is not social

It's always a good idea to check past threads, as often your questions are already answered.

Try and keep the social chit chat out of the thread, it makes it hard for people who have come here looking for information and have to sort through pages of usless discussion.

If you have an concerns please feel free to pm a mod or admin.

Thanks

Be safe, and enjoy the hunting!

Yeah a few people on shroomery reported some finds already. I won't personally be going out for probably another month, funny I should come on today and see this because earlier one of my tripping buddies drove round a bunch of areas we have spots in and there was nothing but some inactives popping up.
Not too long now :D.

Adelaide is expecting 40mm for 3 or 4 days....was thinking of heading out for a hike to see what's out.... it might be a bit early though

Can anyone help me out with some info on hunting P. Subaeruginosa? What am i looking for...sort of forest walks, or pop down the local national park on a rainy day? Only ever picked from paddocks and would really like to try and find some of these this season. I'm in SEQ also if that matters..

Bit early for Adelaide, i'm tipping late May/early June depending on temps and rain.

Melb (S.E burbs) kicks off around mid-late April but tends to be very sporadic untill late May.

Vic/S.A boarder for the past 6 years has been a few weeks later. Around mid-late May

I generally receive a report of actives found in W.A by early-mid June
