A friend of mine owns a farm about 40 minutes west of Byron Bay I think he said, not sure. Anyway, a couple of weeks ago he was down there and picked some psychedelic shrooms for our first ever shroom trip. Was pretty cool, we'll make sure to visit the farm again sometime soon. :D

I'm going to organise a trek to the blue mountains in the next month or so. 3 hours drive for a few mushrooms better fucking be worth it :P

I found a few on my front lawn this morning, two different types. One is pretty flat on the top and the others are really round and white. I'll take some pictures and get some ID's tomorrow morning if i can. Are we allowed to link to our shroomery ID threads in here?

If you want to use the shroomery forum for ID's thats fine, but thats where they need to stay.

No linking to BL thanks :)

I have never eaten mushrooms & I would like to try one day ... but Im scared shitless lol

the photo above well I see those exact looking mushrooms up the rd where a park is ..

and they look 100% like ones above ... From what I gather if you bruise the mushroom it should turn a blue color if not then dont eat but this is not a sure thing either.

A warning should be said that if you eat the wrong mushrooms it can take 2 weeks after ingesting them that you become very ill & your gonna need a liver and kidney transplant or you die !!!!

Even experts have made mistakes !!!

poisonous mushrooms look like magic ones so it can be like russian roulette when picking..

Oh and dont tell me to go look at the website to indentify them as photos are just a guide and not a sure thing.

to anyone out there thinking of trying them be very careful.

I did not know they had warning signs now at same places -->

<--- Perth.
I read on another forum that a few (4) people have been busted in Perth for picking, however they didn't include a source so I don't know how reliable it is. If you are going to pick you might want to head south anyway :)

Hyroller, why don't you just learn to pick them yourself? A lot of people are scared to go picking and I suppose its kind of justified because if your not careful the consequences can be severe. What I don't understand is why you trust OTHER PEOPLE to go and do it who could just as easily make a mistake. I would never eat shrooms that weren't picked by myself personally or one other person who I taught to pick and I know is careful and paranoid about getting the wrong ones and knows their shit.

I am not dicksizing here but I have picked a lot of mushrooms, never eaten or shared a bad one out. The fact is if you do the research, get the field experience and take all the necessary precautions it is not that dangerous. Note I said: TAKE ALL THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS! I am not in any way, shape or form promoting uneducated people to go out and pick, I am however saying that you should all educate yourselves thoroughly, and trust your own (hopefully) meticulous process of identifying mushrooms over some random dealers who could just as likely fuck it up, if not more so. I rate the intelligence of the average bluelighter far above your average user or dealer.

After THIS rain. I'd say Adelaide area is definitely worth a try.

Still too early

You might get lucky and get a few randoms in the mountains but you'll be doing alot of walking and most likely get nothing for few weeks...

Melb (esp. s.e burbs and penninsula) will be pinning and should have some mature shrooms within days.

83mm of rain since Friday in my area :)

I don't recommend people go out hunting and get them I'D'd on websites but if you're with an experienced hunter with a few season under their belt i don't see it as being as risky as you're trying to say.

I've seen non-actives bruise blue so i'd like it if people didn't go off the bruising theory alone.

If you know what to look for such as gills, shape, colour, bruising and spore print colour then it's fairly safe.

For the amount of noobs picking every year there should be alot more poisonings and deaths if it were that easy to pick a look alike.

When i teach people to pick they are lucky to have 1 or 2 in-active's in their bag the first time and after that they are usually pretty right.

The signs are just there because the government doesn't want you exploring your mind and hope to scare you out of doing shrooms.

Had a look around on Sunday, found heaps of non-actives.
Might have a look again Thursday before work. :)

hahaha yeah there is one spot in perth which is well known and pretty much always under survaliance. seen a few shrivilled up odd ones about just got to be patience i suppose. no rain forecast though

im a south aussie and im just wondering if anyone know of any hot-spots in adelaide were mushies are a sure-thing??
i know they grow down in second-valley forest, but thats a bit of a drive (especially when you dont find any!!!!!).......
also, do you happen to know the dates they grow between?? (i just know in winter)
or any information on S.A. psylocybin mushrooms????

any help is greatly appreciated.
cheers

psilo - how common are blue meanies in the southern parts?

I think their pretty much nonexistent, i have heard alot of people saying they had them but i have never found and i know those certain people spread alot of other types of rumours. I have heard of a more trusted source that you can find them rarely in victoria but even then the one spot they grow in is cow dung:|

Read the entire thread and threads from other years before you go asking questions that have already been answered.

I have given rough dates a couple of pages back in regards to start of season across southern Australia.

They are a wild mushroom so once you know what weather conditions to look for and what they grow in you will find them all over the place.

I suggest you research all you can and try to find someone with mushroom hunting experience to go picking with.

Please pickers show respect to nature.
Don't trash the land and leave bellow the stem in the ground so more shrooms grow.
And put back what u take out and you will find it much more enjoyable and rewarding.
If you can people grow ya own and spread spores.
Don't leave rubbish behind when picking and don't cause trouble. Try to avoid police by using back roads, late picking hours, find good reason to what u doing, blend in, suss things out, plan ahead, prepare for ya trip and only take what ya need.
I don't think people should be picking to make money when i heard about this in in nimbin i was like thats fucked.

I was amazed to learn that mushrooms grow year round in australia. In WA in winter in the south when its most moisture like at balingyup. But as states like NSW's north picking season comes to a end other states start.

on that note, a friend of mine had a dream that he went on two mushroom hunting expeditions. it was the year of 08 and he managed to procure a fairly large haul of blue meanies in the great southwest. they grew rampantly over the paddocks that the farmers did not spray with fungicide; one just had to be patient and not give up after finding empty paddock after empty paddock. i can vaguely recall them being more potent than any of the gold tops we had found in the forests. suddenly a herd of cows charged at me and i woke up, logged on bluelight and posted this message.
