Mushroom Season 2007

This link should work, if not google 'stamets' and go to the google books link- there is a book called Psilocybin Mushrooms of the World.

On an aside not, let me give you the standard cautionary note. It is highly advisable not to go experimenting with fungi until you have thoroughly researched what you are looking for. There are many Australian species of psilocybe that have a close resemblance to some very toxic fungii. One of my mate ended up in hospital on dialysis with severe kidney failure from eating the wrong mushroom.

Cubes are only good for extraction IMO

Every time we boiled or ate them we just didn't get a strong enough effect and then when i did a methanol extraction when i was up there last summer we had a really nice trip. (freaked a few of my cubensis loving friends out hehehe)

I think cubes lack the visual intensity that i find easy to get with subs. Even with the extracted psilocin it took alot more to reach the "video game" world i enjoy so much. It is definately a smoother trip but i much prefer the subs coz they smash me 9 times outa' 10 and i get awesome visuals!

I don't take shrooms for a smooth ride. There are other psychedelics for that!

As immortal said, come south in winter and get some subs :)

wow thats all we ever get around here are cubes... id love to try different types of mushrooms... you think they're different cuz they're stronger? or because the mushroom has different properties, like the different cactus?

The mushrooms do have different properties but cubes also contain less of the active ingredient (psilocybin) and you need more mushroom material to get high compared with subs for this reason.

If you want to try different mushies you will have to travel way down south in winter and i recommend you find a reliable guide so you don't pick the wrong ones!

Subs can be a very freaky trip if you are used to P. Cubensis. I have watched many a Qld'er trip on our southern fungi fruits and get quite scared as they are used to the smoother ride (lower psilocybin content) of cow shit fungi.

Each to their own but if i want a smooth ride i will take acid ;)

Woody soil fungi takes the cake for mind blowing trips but most psilocybin mushrooms around the world are still a marvelous high! :D

^^I think gold tops are cubes. I know different varieties of subs grow around the blue mountains(P. Eucalypta)

The name gold tops normally refers to subs in australia but i have heard minorities call cubes gold tops when i've travelled.

Alot of other countries with caramel psychedelic shrooms also call them gold tops and i recall once in germany seeing our native subs growing in alot of parks over there. I later learnt they introduced them after working out they liked the climate and were alot stronger than their native strains. Good old german engineering :)

For those of you who don't know, cubes are native to mexico and not australia. Gotta love international trade!

Just when i thought all was lost for the 2007 sub season i found a lovely big patch of 3-400 in the front yard of my nan's (OF ALL THE PLACES!) place whilst visiting her this afternoon.

It's not uncommon to find them at this time of the year around here but all my other patches are definately done for this season and have not produced for 2-3 weeks which has surprised me after having such a bumper season!

*ponders whether 400 will last untill next may*

Jesus, 400 subs is unbelievable at the best of times, but in august! Nice score mate.

Definitely agree with you here. Shrooms (namely subs, and the other wood-lovers, Azures, Cyans etc) are not a party drug, they are a fucking serious psychedelic and should be taken with caution. Cubes however, are a much smoother ride, good for the noobs.

Subs are just so fucking intense, a very fine creation from mother nature herself!

I know mate, this patch has been staring me in the face for so many years! It's prime sub real estate to say the least! It's on the exact opposite side of the forest where i find my largest patches so how i haven't put 2 and 2 together before now i don't know...

I just guess that when i go to visit my frail old nan the last thing on my mind is finding subs. That is untill i saw some large caramel caps as i drove down her driveway this week =D

I so need to come to melbourne.

Or pretty much anywhere else in vic!

I'm hundreds of k's west of Melb and i have hunted north, south east and western vic with great results! The strongest subs tend to come from volcanic soils i have noticed.

Remember, subs range from roughly .5-2.4% psilocybin even from the same patch! From years of eating them and extracting psilocybin i have found good soil produces stronger shrooms in general and yields more psilocybin using the methanol extraction process.

There are pine trees near my place where heaps of subs grow in crappy black dirt. You need 3 times as many to get the desired effect compared with ones picked in the red volcanic soils out the road. They are also generally alot smaller with thin stems and only get a slight blue tinge when handled.

Please read the guidelines.

Lets set some rules from the start.

No asking for ID's.

No asking for spots to search or places to hunt

If this thread gets long like the last few have, make sure you completely read it and search the old ones so we don't have to keep repeating the same information over and over.

Lets try and keep it all together in one thread.

...and remember this is not social

^You've missed the season mate. Ask again next year. Try and find buddies with dried ones hehehe.

I should've stocked up before the end of it. I'm down to a few dried caps and a lot of shroom dust.

haha yer.. grind em up and put them into 000 gauge gel caps.. cant wait till summer/mushroom nites.. wooohoooo

Just a friendly reminder, people shouldn't be using this thread, or any thread on BL for that matter, to PM people on where to find mushrooms or any other psychedelic sources :\

I got owned this season.

I managed to aquire "six doses" (words of person that supplied).

Ate it all, died and was born again.

Terrible experience at the peak, but I curled up in a dark room on my bed... accepted my fate, and came through the other side and it was just pure love and happiness.

Can't wait for next year :)
