Ha! Yeah you're right, sorry I don't know why I wrote Cyanescens - must've been on my mind! I meant P. Subs, my bad.
This must be how incorrect info and rumours start ay, I'll see if I can edit the post... thanks for picking up on my blunder IT :)

Cyans dont grow in NZ or Australia. They would have been P. Subs or P. Aucklandii, probably subs. You need to realise that subs vary alot in appearance, from region to region.

So much so that for example, South Australian subs can be completely different to victorian subs.

Subs vary greatly even only metres apart.

I have also noticed the subs near adelaide are usually a more creamy light colour compared to vic subs and have thinner stems.

I think this is why they tried to class other species such as P. Australiana but i believe they are all the same shrooms. They just grow to what their surroundings enable them...

Hope that post makes sense, i'm off tap!

Yeah the thing with P. Australiana/Eucalypta was that despite there varying appearance, macroscopically they were so similar that they could all be classed as one mushroom which is P. Subaeruginosa.

These are the ones i love...

They only grow in one spot in my area and are completely different to any other subs around here and always give mind blowing trips!

They do look different! Such dark caps. I found a few subs with caps as dark, if not darker. They are almost purple all over. I assume they're fucking potent!

My pics will be up tommorow at some point.

hehe i found a lil one like that maybe i teeny bit smaller then the pic just above
when i picked it the whole thing was a mass deep blue color like it had been dipped in food dye and a couple others i found before even picking them had splotches of blue all over them and stem was very tainted blue

I refer to those suckers as gold top meanies, the caps never open right up like most subs.

They only grow on one mountain around one tree in big rings

Along the track on the way in you get the normal thin stemmed/nipple topped subs but they are no-where near as potent as the ones arond the tree...

Some look even stranger than that pictured above and bigger ones start to resemble other psilocybe species, strangest ones i've found by a mile!

My guess is the soil is perfect as the grass and any weeds in the area that the "gold top meanies" grow is way greener and also longer than anywhere in that area. They are also the first to "pop up" and last place i find them every season, usually weeks before and after everywhere else in south west vic...

Just another magical wonder about these amazing things

Would love to get them tested for psilocin content!

When i do a methanol psilocin extraction with them they seem to have more in them anyway...

Will post pics of the other shrooms in my area soon

Probably wrong place to ask this is a melbourne Australia thread..

Where does it state this is a melbourne only thread?

This thread is for mushroom season 2007 in Australia, mainly for winter mushrooms in the south known as Psilocybe subaeruginosa...

Even NZ shroomers are posting on here

The more areas commenting on here the better it is as most people on here want to learn all they can about the subject matter...

I agree, but PA isn't exactly Australia. Im guessing he is talking about Pennsylvania in America, nothing to do with the season here.
