if you haven't seen it ... trippin or otherwise ... making your mission to track this one down and watch it!

haha i watched casper and fight club on shrooms. casper floating around the room was to distracting and fight club was just to much.

i watched fear and loathing on a small dose of acid

watched blow, requiem for a dream, and trainspotting on coke

way more movies than i count on pot.

Drug use in movies

I've always wondered this. When people do lines of whatever in movies, what do they use instead of the actual drug? In scenes of people shooting up, do they actually make the actors put a needle in their skin? How do they do it?

Injecting is usually simulated with a prosthesis (fake arm) or latex pouch. I'm not sure about snorting, I'd imagine they snort something relatively inert but I can't think what.

Sugar sweet - UK brands but im sure they have the same sort of thing where ever you're from.

was an attempt at humour - i got really no idea. Maybe someone will come up with a likely suggestion

I'm sure a lot of people actually inject in movies... they would just use sterile saline.

Injecting is not a dirty and dangerous practice.

I doubt that very much. You'd have to have a real doctor on hand and a real nurse put the needle in or else train the actor how to do it--and even then you'd probably still have to have a doctor on hand. Plus with the multiple takes they'd be shooting saline into their arm like 20 times a day and have used every vein on their arm like 5 times each. There are just too many logistical problems.

As far as the coke, I've actually wondered that myself on many occasions.

I think I heard that they snorted evaporated milk while filming Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas.

In Trainspotting it was all vitamin C shots.
In Blow the cocaine they snorted was powdered milk - they tried to snort as little as possible, and if you watch the movie knowing this you'll notice how they always change the scene after every line (not "the scene" perse, more like the camera angle, etc)
In Half-Baked it was all tobacco, which most of the actors didn't smoke and apparently David Chappelle insisted on having real weed but it didn't help their acting much I guess :)

The only drug I know of in which real drugs were used was Easy Rider (I think). Jack Nicholson got high for the first time recording that movie - and it's pretty plain to see. Wouldn't mind sharing a joint with good old Jack Nicholson myself.

For non-closeup stuff, they actually have fake syringes where the needle retracts into the plastic shaft thing.

I'm not up on my needle terminology.
