Movies and Drugs[MEGA MERGED]

man, I can't get through Monty Python's "The Meaning Of Life" without crying if I watch it while tripping. Its got to be the funniest goddamn movie. Especially the "Find the Fish" sketch - wow.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas for sure. altho im sure everyone already knows that. I like to rail lines and watch Blow too... its fantastic. Maybe its just because im in love with Johnny Depp. 8( Who knows.



Willy Wonka too. =D
 
i also watched Fantasia 2000 while trippin on shrooms.... even though it was a bad trip... it was insane. the whales... and the fairies... you HAVE to try it. its amazing. =D

Back in december I saw elf in theater while realllly baked, and it was so magical to me!! I couldnt stop smiling throughout the whole movie...

And I saw the new peterpan movie, which is pretty good too!!

watched this high and found it pretty good but tripping i probably would have went running from the theater as its way to dark of a movie.
 
tripping out to movies

most of the time i find that it is a waste to watch movies on psychedellics. The plot usually keeps me too grounded to reality and I feel it holds me back from letting loose and exploring me good ol' mind. However, last night I ate a nice 5g dose of shrooms and ended up watching Waterworld. The whole thing was really damn cool and I was totally blown away by the scenery and neat sci fi aspects of the film.

So I was wondering how others felt about the matter, whether a movie can truly evoke a great and thoughtful trip. And if you do enjoy movies while tripping, what are some of your fav. films or genres to watch.

Personally, I think that alot of sci fi movies (ones with particularly abstract concepts) would make for great flicks to watch every once in a while on psychedellics.
 
Muh!! Studio Ghibli rocks! :) I actually really enjoy watching movies while trippin and although there are loadsa threads on the best movies to watch while trippin I thought I'd give u mine...

1. Spirited Away (all time favorate- amazing imagery, beautiful music and a story based on going to a crazy fantasy world- what more do you want!!)

2. 2001: a space odyssey. (classic, beautiful imagery and muchos thoughts on life, conciousness and the future of mankind)

3. Fear and Loathing (so easy to watch- their mindstate mirrors my own perfectly!)

4. Fantasia (cartoons and music- can there be anything better)

5. Blazing Saddles- Classic comedy

I'd also check out: the big lebowski, being john malcovich, donnie darko.

And if your brave: pi and eraserhead- but be prepared to be scared out yer whits.

Kill Bill gave me some awesome visuals but just too much death to keep me happy :(

Oh and in terms of thought provokation spirited away, 2001 and pi all had me questioning life, the universe and everything.

ps I CANNOT emphasises enough how great Spirited Away is on 2C-i - take about 25mgs wait 3 hours then start to watch, but only in Japansese w/ subtitles. More visual patterning than I have ever experinced! :)

my attention span after eating mushrooms makes watching a full movie an instantly futile task ... most movies I've watched while high seemed more interesting (or boring ala Matrix 2), but maybe the tenth time I'd seen Run Lola Run so many fine details and synchronisms stood out as to make the viewing far different from any preceding (or even since).

short things like aqua teens, however ...
 
The Stoners wreaking havoc dvd by the Kotton Mouth Kings, it will leave you twisted.
 
I would hate to have to sit in the same place for 2 hours while tripping, or for that matter while sober, or under the influence of anything other than a lot of weed and benzos... I guess this explains why I don't own a TV or watch movies often... well that and commercials are EVIL... buuut... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND:

The Simpsons
Futurama
Family Guy
Dilbert
and to a lesser extent: Southpark

Of course, make sure that you don't have any commercials to watch, or you'll be wasting your entheogenic consciousness AND minutes of your life listening to a paid message of somebody trying to make you waste your money on their crap.

One episode I particularly recommend while shrooming (been there done that, twice...) is "El Viaje Misterioso Del Nuestro Homer" of The Simpsons... homer experiences a Guatamalian Insanity Pepper trip throughout this episode, which is probably supposed to resemble a Peyote trip, however the themes are very similar to a mushroom trip (Abstracted chaos with a message).
