Most surprising drug information

Well I knew drug education was bs but I wasn't sure quite the extent...
Marijuana is medicine, as well as a cure for cancer.
Benzos are addictive and overprescribed.
Psychedelics are spiritual sacrament if respected.
Legal drugs are often more dangerous than illegal ones.

I was surprised that cocaine was not addictive for me no matter how much i did. Smoking cigs is easily 100 times more addictive for me. I was under impression you did coke and next you were stealing and sucking dick to get it. I found it boring really.
I am still surprised that society is so accepting of whatever hysteria the media/government pumps out on drugs. If the government or police call a drug a date rape drug that tag will stay with the drug even when it's not true. When I tried GHB i wondered how it could possibly have a date rape drug tag. Trying to knock someone out with GHB would probably kill them, that's why date rapists tend to use beer.
It's too bad there are drugs that are dangerous and addictive but the kids have no way of knowing which is which. I learned it on my own.

I was also alarmed to find alcohol as one of the worst drugs ever. I found this out first hand when my dad died of liver failure from drinking so much when I was 11. The sad part was he was trying to quit at the time. This kind of made me have a personal vendetta against alcohol but I do believe people can drink responsibly. I have grandparents that always drink and are in their 80s still truckin. It's just our culture that pisses me off, I've had awesome times with alcohol and it is one of the best social drugs don't get me wrong. But the way you are looked at when you say you don't drink to some people, and try being around drunks when you are not drunk and its one of the most annoying things to withstand.

Basically THC activates CB1 which acts to inhibits adenylyl cyclase activity so [cAMP] drops. But caffeine inhibits the degradation of cAMP by PDE so the effects of THC are counteracted by caffeine. But then again retrograde signalling in the ventral tegmental area does not relate to the PKA pathway but rather to Ca2+ channel activity downregulation and thus to GABAergic neuron inhibition that results in dopamine release. AKA you still feel nice but without any memory fuck paranoid thoughts.

I was also surprised to learn that acetaminophen likely functions via modulation of endocannabinoids (via FAAH inhibition or some other mechanism).

ebola

Sorry to bump but this is a good thread/topic of discussion. Ive always been skeptical of any govt. based propaganda which is probabaly what led me to smoking weed for the first time during DARE week. Out of all the drugs ive done (which is a pretty extensive list most being done alone out of pure curiosity) LSD's actual affects on me (love, understanding, actually being able to understand what someones "ego" was, etc.) vs. what DARE and similiar anti-drug propaganda pushed on everyone from the start of grade school (being attacked by aliens or some crazy shit lol). By far the anti-lsd (and most hallucinogens of all 3 classes) propaganda vs the reality just blew my mind. P.S. Fuck Nixon lol

Everything except for the crystal meth propaganda cause its all true

There's SO much insane mis-information about meth it's hysterical. I read an article a few days ago claiming that meth is a 'high class' designer drug primarily used by gay men... also that the high is like "eating chocolate cake while having an orgasm"....
Someone actually published those statements... I'm not even capable of making up nonsense of that caliber lol. Speechless.

That heroin isn't as amazing as you'd think it would be. I mean I love this drug, but it was suposed to be more pleasurefull than fucking sex and it's not even close.

that 4 grams of Tylenol "3quals instant d3ath liver failure br0 you'll die of necrosis krokodile like symptoms " gtfo

(Warning:be careful with tylenol)
I have to put that there because I'll get blasted now for saying that

Learning how dangerous benzo withdrawal is. For a drug class that is very commonly prescribed the withdrawals will absolutely kill you. They don't drastically improve over a short period of time like opiate withdrawal does either.

I am of the opinion we should erect buildings with 2 doors: one says "Drugs". The other says "Rehab".
When you get tired of one you go to the other.
Maybe put a church between?

The only church I'd go to is a Church's Chicken so maybe put one of those instead. Then the people in the drug building would be able to get a bite between binges or while stoned. And the rehab folks could get there fix by eating. Plus they could fatten up again so they have actual weight to loose when they decide to move back to the drug building.

Better yet make it a Five Guys or something. I'd much rather have a juicy burger than some gross fast food chicken (yuck)

I'm moving into the drug building post haste. Please prepare a room for my arrival, thank you.

Yea all opiates cause physical dependacy (but no toxic harm) if you take them long enough. anyone tried that kratom to get off?

What all that propaganda did for me at a pretty young age was I basically lumped all "drugs" into the same category as "evil". Didn't matter what it was, pot to heroin, they were all "drugs". Then in high school there were friends of mine who got high and I still thought they were good dudes, so why all this hoopla about pot being so horrific for you. Sort of blew the whole drug propaganda right out of the water. So I started getting high around 10th or 11th grade and never looked back.
The other thing that used to piss me off was when some folks would get on their high horse that alcohol was OK but pot was the most evil drug in the world. They would say but what I like is legal and what you like isn't. And I'm like, our body's don't know what's legal and whats not. To boot, laws can change and I would tell them alcohol was infinitely more harmful than a toke here and there. There seemed to be no convincing them, they saw the whole thing as absolutely black and white. Used to really piss me off and looking back on it, still does. Oh well.

I learned that marijuana particularly THC can heavily potentiate symptoms of mental illness in some users. I had a few horrific experiences that made me heavily dislike the drug and as an adult can really only handle a minor toke from a joint without spinning into my own netherworld. I also learned about the amazing benefits of CBD which I plan on using during the next few months of getting back on track to the normality of doing my sober tasks.

You'll see it just about anywhere where weed is worshipped like some sacrament that was brought down upon us by an elite alien force: "you smoked too much".."you need a different strand".."quit being paranoid".. AW MAN,if it were only that simple! The psychoactive effects in marijuana were the most intense and unwanted experiences of any highs I've ever had; and that includes acid, ketamine and shrooms.

If marijuana gives you a sense of deep burden, sadness, depression, fear etc.. PLEASE stop! Smoking more won't get you in a calmer state.

I get this also...
But there is also a euphoric and escapist aspect to the weed high...along with being legal and having no hangover or physical dependency...it keeps me coming back even though it makes me obssesive about crazy shit to the point of almost having a mental break
