Mobile phones: What do you have? What do you waaaant?

I'm too lazy to try and cancel the contract and I realise it is my fault I just like calling people jerks. Still, had no idea Nokia was bringing out a new phone in a few months and it looks pretty schmick.

I might try calling and cancelling the contract anyway, but I'm not heaps fussed, N97 does everything I need a phone to.

*Edit* Just called and the guy I've been talking to said the phone has been sent but it should be all right to cancel the contract and send it back.

So, do you have any ideas about the N8's release in Australia Aisha?

the n8 looks good for the camera alone. the rest is average (memory is not that great). hdmi port is a bit silly. i hear that there are common n97 power issues and the device might lockup or reset itself. lp, google "n97 problems" and seriously reconsider.

i still want a n900.... no idea if or when i'll get it. need a tactile qwerty keyboard on a device i can do word processing on, so iphone is out.

I have been working in the industry for a long time and I resent being called a 'cunt' or anything of the sort. I do a job just like anyone else does.

I did leave room for exceptions. I have met a larger percentage of cunts(tm) in this particular industry than any other, with the possible exception of telemarketing. My boyfriend works for the Telecommunication Ombudsman so I am constantly hearing stories of the phone companies fucking ppl over, which has probably colored my view of them. I also have been fucked over myself to the tune of several hundred dollars, unfortunately before I knew anything about the Telecommunications Ombudsman.

I know there are good and bad people in all industries. I am in kind of a dark mood, I apologize for painting my insults with too broad a brush.

should have one of these babies comin in at end of the month

Yeah I'm waiting for the iPhone4 too.

Hmmm... The N900 looks pretty sweet too.

I'm definitely going to send the N97 back. It looks alright but I don't want to be stuck with it for 2 years if there's better phones coming out soon.

^ Dude, when i upgraded to the HTC Legend the other day, the guy at Vodafone said that the N97 was the worst mobile Nokia had ever created.

Im glad i got rid of the N97, glitchy, lagg's bigtime, turn's off when it want's..N97 = Piece of Shit.

Yeah, I have friends with it and they reckon it's ok but glitchy.

I looked at the other phones but neither the HTC or the Blackberrys have a decent camera or free voice navigation. Plus I've always had Nokias and like them.

Definitely going to send the N97 back and wait for the N8.

I looked at the N900 Impacto and it looks perfect but seems a pipe dream expecting it to turn up in Australia, let alone be a contract phone which is what I need.

Not too keen of the idea of an on-screen keyboard on the N8 but everything else looks alright. Well besides the lack of a removable battery. Every phone I've ever had has had a lock up or two that required removal of the battery.

The Xperia is now out and while it's a bit tubby, I still want to sex with it. A lot. Like, I'm a bit hot right now just thinking about it.

My current contract isn't up for another year though so hopefully by that time they'll have slimmed it down and it won't be tied to Telstra anymore.

and I'm in love. Such a fucking awesome phone - it does everything I want it to.

The only problem is the keyboard - I mistype from time to time and the backspace button is right over the enter button and I end up sending people unfinished texts. But I can handle that because it's hot.

^ Does an onscreen keyboard bother you at all?

Also, a touch screen still works with a screen protector right? I work outdoors so need to have one.

Emma (my wife) and I both got Nokia X6's during the week. Never thought I or her would ever get a Nokia again but WOW, *LOVE* this phone and the deal we have. $19 cap, free X6, unlimited free calls to other people on '3', unlimited internet of News + Info (we don't have internet 'normal' hooked up so all the internet stuff we browse on planet 3/news site is free, also have it hooked up to wifi at home so we can use it for stuff IF either of us is too lazy to go to a computer for net) plus a heap of other stuff which is perfect for our uses.

We're both at home not working whilst our child(ren) grow up, so most of our communication is via the net so we aren't after "fancy" (over priced) phones, these have EVERYTHING we want for $19/month = AWESOME! =D

Optus 3G was just not working for me since we moved to Geelong 6ish weeks ago, '3' is giving me HEAPS better reception. Can't speak highly enough of it!!!!

You're so shallow and superficial ;)

I like pressing buttons too. How can you text without looking with a touch screen?

bro, i waited months and searched in china for it, but have only just realised that it has actually released in aus. you can get it at harvey norman (check online). i haven't seen one on contract (i rather buy outright), but you should be able to find one that way.

I'll be staying with Vodafone and they definitely don't have it yet but I'll see when I send the N97 back if they're getting it or not.

Also, I know it's kind a small thing to complain about but it doesn't have the MMS function which is annoying 'cause I frequently send pictures to friends when I'm bored and see something interesting.

do it, maggot :p

btw: benefit is here, staying next door. we'll be drinking within the next half hour. =D

I'm not spending $700 plus on a phone when I can get it for free with the same amount of money I'd be paying for using it. It makes no economic sense.

And yeah I knew Benefit was in the city IP, have fun. I'm gunna try catch him next Friday when I'm done with exams.

Touch screen works fine with screen protection fine on my ipod.

It's a clear sticker that goes on the face of it, no hassles at all.
