^^^ okay, I get what your saying, what I mean, is for instance, I was looking at the nokia n97, wanted to see what the keys looked like on the touch screen to dial!!!!

All the demos want to show me are all the gadgets and widgets.

I use my handsfree kit (with cradle) a lot in my work and wanted to make sure it was suitable for this use!!!

LOL!

I'm in the market for a new phone and plan. Can anyone recommend any (at the cheaper end of the scale - $30-$40 p/m). I'm not a huge phone user so don't need any fancy features :)

I'm with Telstra at the moment but considering a swap to Vodafone or Virgin.

Any thoughts? Any phone brand/model recommendations? The whirlpool forums are a little overwhelming for the uninitiated like moi...

Telstra has superior coverage all over Australia. If you do any travelling outside of city centres you might want to stay with the big T, even though they're more expensive than every other company.

Thanks c.o.t.b. I hadn't really considered coverage, maybe it is worth a little extra money to stay on with telstra? I'm also looking at internet plans with further muddies the waters if i start looking into bundles....

Yeah, Bigpond is good for technical support [all Australian based, 24 hour] and reliability of the connection etc, but again, shit on price. I suppose you really do get what you pay for?

That said, re: phones if you don't go outside of Brisbane all that often you'd be fine with another carrier. :)

Absolutely loving my N85 (thank you vodafone for a month and a half long '10 business days.'

I'm definitely an OLED covert. So pretty!

my HTC touch diamond carcked in a few weeks back and it now looking at getting repaired, luckily that is my work phone, so it wont cost squat...

we are looking at upgrading our phones at work as everyone who has the HTC touch diamond fuckin hates it...

im going to suggest either a HTC Snap, Samsung i617t (which i have read shithouse reviews on, Nokia e71 or a iphone...

Management have already said they are looking at iphones... so this could be sweet =D

I thought my blackberry bold was cool....until my girlfriend got an iphone....

So very gutted I have 12 months to go on my plan.....

One that doesn't get really hot after I've been talking on it for 15 minutes would be good.

A guy from Vodafone rang me yesterday and said I could get a new phone a few months early, valued customer and all that shit. I was thinking a HTC or Blackberry but none of them have decent cameras so I just went with the N97. Then after already doing the voice contract thing I find out that the Nokia N8 is coming out in a few months which I would have known about and gotten had the jerks not let me finish my contract early.

So now I'm stuck with the N97 for two years. Jerk faces!

Oh well at least the Free Ovi Maps is available for the N97. Saves me biting the bullet and buying a car navigator.

LP - if you signed something in store you'd be eligible for a 10 day cooling off period; surely a verbal contract is subject to the same condition?

Actually there’s not normally a cooling off period, unless the network you signed with doesn’t have coverage in at your house. There are other times you have a leg to stand on sometimes, but its pretty hard to fight. 1st step would be calling and rescinding the contract before you receive the phone. If its coming soon, don’t open it (even the box its shipped in) and call Direct Deals asap. Their number is 1300300404

I have been working in the industry for a long time and I resent being called a 'cunt' or anything of the sort. I do a job just like anyone else does.

lostpunk it was your decision to agree to something without doing the research first. Maybe next time you should hang up the phone, look at a gadget website (gsmarena.com) get your shit together and then call them back.

Bought the HTC Legend the other day and it's awesome! Can't fault anything about it.
