mmmm cheese....how good is cheese (The Australian Cheese Appreciation Thread!)

I love cheese! My boyfriend, however, takes the cake (or should that be slice - okay okay no more lame puns). We buy a big BLOCK of Coon Light each week, and each week it's ALL GONE. He will sit with a knife and the block of cheese and just eat it. Cheese goes on everything: steak, potatoes, in salads... mountains of it on pasta, pizzas and oven bake dishes (I have to make "his side" and "my side" of the dish so I don't die of artery clog). I swear he'd put it on icecream if I put the idea in his head.

My household goes through over a kilo of cheese a week. Mainly Edam and Gouda (I think it is) however there is the occasional chunk of Coon and softer cheeses thrown in.

I am the cheese Archfiend. Noone fiends cheese like myself.
I don't however eat it by itself. Cheese adorns virtually everything I can get it to. Melted is better.

And yes, I've eaten plenty of cheese today already :P

^^^ yes Anna! i totally agree - smoked cheese is underrated!!!!

I love cheese...essentially on anything.

I eat brie on its own....but I think I oded on it a couple of months ago...

brie is normally my fave...but I still love plastic cheese (kraft singles), bocconcini (especially marinated in salads), fetta (marinated fetta....mmmmm), cream cheese, cheese cake, cheddar cheese, mozarella, gruyere, parmesan....

I really could go on forever.

I think I've outcheesed everyone....;)

top 5 cheesey foods (for me)

1: cheeseburger
2: toasted cheese sandwich
3: pizza
4: pasta
5: nachos

p.s. King island is the bomb. Anna! you should try the lighthouse blue brie...it's like a blue cheese for wusses like me.....delightful! :)

my now defunked cheese thread was so much cheesier than this one. Keystroke I think the mods must smile on you or just appreciate your stupidness more than mine.

SLM when you say Cheeseburger is in your top 5 fave cheese foods please tell me you aren't talking bout maccas cheeseburger. I've done some undercover work with ASIO and I can tell you that there is no cheese in a cheeseburger. Its just sticky yellowy-orange semi viscous goop. Our main theory is that it is a product of the puss squeezed from employee's faces.

I'm not sure why...I blame it on my uncommon sobriety at the moment...but I agreed to let this be reopened.

Go forth and yell your cheesy love to the heavens my children.... 8) :)

EDIT: As has been pointed out, there was indeed another cheese thread started...apparently people love cheese a lot.

So I merged, and again....sing forth your cheesy praises etc and so on and so forth..... 8) %)

But there is alredy a cheese appreciation thread. This is just useless and will not promote anymore discussion than in the other cheese thread which has some tructure to it.

please close it again

I love cheese as much ... well by the sounds of it as much as SLM's bf.

I put cheese on anything. Christmas dinner, tiny teddies with cream cheese (old time school favourite) anything really.

I never really understood why cheese knives are shaped like they are? Is it really any help? Or is just a wanky knife?

Tasty cheese isnt tasty enough ... THEY LIE.

Yep I love cheese, all types - it's amazing. Infact I make my own blue vien cheese.

Don't ask it was a strange day I learnt how to do that,

I'm about to pass out, need to go. Enjoy your cheese, it is a real treat.

I'm not really a big fan of cheese unless it's melted on something like pizza or a burger. Although i had melted cheese on toast the other week and was VERY surprised as to just how good that was and always wondered why people go on about that , it being such a simple thing and now i know :D

I am getting the tatse for that cabernie (sp?) stuff though lately and i like capsicum cheese spread on toast.

well i guess it looks like i do like cheese after all :p

I dislike cheese cake though. Always have. My mum used to make home made baked cheesecake all the time and i never liked it and always swapped it at school for chocolate crackles, toffee or fairy bread =D (mum always said "i'm not making that rubbish" and it's all i ever wanted - so simple and cheap and she was always making all these gormet slices and things... yes poor me i know :p)

I think it's just a wanky knife. I think you are meant to pick the bit you've cut up with the prong thing on the end, but you can just as easily do that with the pointy end of a normal knife. Nevertheless, I admit we use a cheese knife.... it's even got the word "Cheese" on it for extra wanky effect =D

What's everyone's thoughts on cottage cheese? "Real" cheese or no?

I quite like it. Although it's clearly not in the same category as brie and camembert; not even close to tasty.

Another fave: Ricotta. How awesome is ricotta to cook with, especially with pasta. And cream cheese with sweet chilli sauce, spread on crackers..... mmmmmm heaven.

cottage cheese is alright its just a little misunderstood. Try mixing it up with tuna and having it on crackers. Mmm that was my favourite lunch in primary school.
Parmesan cheese is another contentious one. Smells like spew but tastes so good. Parmy on pasta or in rissotto is fantastic. Shaved parmy on top of a caesar salad is fantastic along with the ground parmesan in the dressing.

BreakaBeat there is no way this thread is getting closed. I think it is clear that there is a great love of cheese amongst the BL community ;)

As long as nobody goes appreciating dick cheese then all should be good.

cheese is awesome.
go for a trip in france and try the million other types of cheese they have. absolutely amazing

3 serves of dairy a day

cheese, cheese and cheese :)

when i ended my vegan days...
i rediscovered melted cheese.
(soy cheese really doesn't melt- one of the few things i never managed to find a substitute for!)

oh my god.
so good.

*dreamy sigh*

yeah what is it with parmesan???

Its one of lifes great mysteries that it can smell exactly like spew and yet i eat so much of it.............God I love it.

i dont think of it that way Maz. I believe that spew smells like parmesan nice vice versa. So in fact it is spew that is the smell stealler and couldn't come up with its own smell so stole poor old parmy's. Damn you spew damn you for tainting the good name of parmesan, damn you to the bottom the toilet!
