Mixmag - "Methoxetamine = roflcoptr" - *MUST READ*

I looked at their trading 'history' on twitter.

4th Oct is the earliest tweet I could find.

they made a total of about 13 tweets between 4th Oct-18th January. Mainly relating to being unable to take various payment methods.

the other 200+ comments are all recent after January 19th and consist mainly of just retweets of any tweet that has the ROFLword in it

As far as I can see, it looks like for the whole of November they couldn't even administer payments through the site at all

but it's ok, because on Nov 1st we're told not to worry, as they have big plans

oooo rly? big magazine promo perhaps? could be

I wonder how the customer's of the UK's new favourite ROFLBranded powder all managed to get through the November ROFLDrought? lawl.

I've changed my mind on the whole situation. MixMag should be applauded for doing their bit for the economy by showcasing failed websites from the UK's finest 'entrepreneurs'. Fair do's & credit where it's due - a 2 page spread on a product no-one bought takes a lot of balls, and must of had the research team bogged down and beavering away for a whole month 5 minutes at least

a selection of approx 8 of the 13 tweets they made between oct4th-jan19th:
4th Oct
*snip*
Pages 60 and 61 of the February 2012 issue of Mixmag make for very interesting reading. Have a sneaky look while you're in the newsagent.

[EDIT]
I'm gonna purchase. firefox just farted at the site but I'll try again in the morning. thought it was down for a mo
panic over ;p

Am I going to have to post the BL User agreement Ms Marma for you, or do you just want a good brush paddling?

No vendor site linkies! No illegal shit :!

Could we accuse the editorship of Mixmag of conspiracy? I doubt it.

Could we accuse them of massively mind-numbingly reckless incompetence and the inability to sub-edit or use google? You bet.

Contact Mixmag

We could accuse them of absolutely anything (like being in on the JFK assassination! =D ), but that has no relationship to whether the accusation is based in fact - a bit like their approach to the mxe article

Vat

I hope the blackhawkdown website owner is paying his vat/declaring his income.

Haven't gotten a response from either The Guardian, Global Drugs Survey or Alex Miller yet .. Kind of disappointed. :\

@ kate. lawdy. many apologies! I had two txt files and had edited out the twitter names on the tweets but i posted the unedited one by mistake

I am nawt intentionally trying to fill up yer day with having to admin my failings i swearz!

will post the tweets in a bit without the tweeters name if thats ok? might pm you or sam first to make sure it's okay, because it's an odd one as the article & brand names are the same as the vendor etc .. will edit all that out more thoroughly

the tweets are relevant to show the sites 'chequered' start-up ie: total failure at managing to even pull off the basic functions of being able to sell anything, and make it clear that the website is a failed nonstarter imo

also, found and made a screen shot of a tweet from the vendor to mixmag/nme etc [post mag article publication] thanking them for their tweets and attention and expressing his joy that the R***Crapter had FINALLY taken off!

will run it by you guys first before posting though <3

oooo!

they're out of stock all of a sudden ... no purchase links on the site anymore & just a front page notice [translation: business is closed] ... 'PLEASE CHECK BACK IN A FEW DAYS WHEN NORMAL SERVICE WILL BE RESUMED!'

they had plenty in last night when I tried to order! ... must of had a rush on in the last 6 hours ;p

I think it's possible they may have run into a few problems =D

Result, lol. Unless he has had hundreds of orders over the last week and is actually sold out.

possible, but doubtful imo

I checked through almost every link on the site last night/early hours while looking at their privacy policies and site history and i could put every gram bundle into my basket ...

[edit]x 2

scratch that
twitter page is not protected. there's another rcraptr.

will still post the ones I saved tho, when I'm back at my laptop

You'd think if he were planning a publicity drive then he'd have enough stock ready to cater for increased demand though, wouldn't you?

Although then again judging by the tweets which Marmalade posted (naughtily, may I add) the guy's been having problems processing payments, meaning he could well have been sitting on stock for months and has actually exhausted the stock he had.

Of course, neither of the above explanations are as amusing or as satisfying as the possibility that he's deeply regretting the fact he shot himself in the foot with his little bit of shady advertising.

Whatever the reason, say hello because we know for a fact that the little tosser's reading this thread. ;)

Ahhhh

Shame

I was going to game his site and order ten G's but send a negative figure to the payments gateway, so I would get money paid to me and hopefully 10g in the post.

[NOTE : and this isn't hacking, as the code is running on my machine I am free to alter it, it maybe fraud but doesn't fall under the Computer misuse Act.]

storing all your prices client side is FAIL.

His payment processor is http://austpay.com/ based in Hong Kong they deal with high risk peeps.

Much as I admire the optimism of those who think this vendor has been scared off by the impotent rage of a few forum users, I think it's unfortunately more likely that the marketing ploy has worked exactly as intended, and that claims to have sold a great deal very quickly are truthful.

^ Exactly. I think people are giving this thread too much credit. There's a few dozen people at most who think this guy is a wank. Compare that to the circulation of Mixmag, NME & whoever else has referenced that Shitmag article & you'll realise that we're not making a dent in this guy's business.

The best thing that's happened are the emails sent to The Guardian etc, but no reply so maybe they don't give a fuck (or don't give enough of a fuck to start badmouthing another publication that they obviously have some sort of working relationship with).

Either way, the damage is done. Or in other words, the prick has already won. We can try & create some sort of backlash to this but he's gonna be sitting on fat stacks of dough right now, he must have shifted a fuckload of MXE in the past couple weeks.

I've already had a local pal/dealer asking me where the best place to get MXE was. I'm not sure if it is related to this but I think it probably is. I presume the original article was more like an advertisement? I was on the mixmag website, read quite a few things about the drug scene at the moment, the people who give them some of their info should be shot. Why you'd ever spill some of the things on there to a reporter is beyond me.
