I dont know why people have such issues with telemarketers. They are a regulated industry and have rules and codes like everyone else.

It's really simple:

me> Hello

TM> Hi, I'm X calling from Y about Z.

<you have to cut them off as soon as you know where they are from. Don't mess around, this is your time to strike>

me> Hi X, I'd like to ask, how did you get this number?

TM> <insert usual response here; white pages, database, promotional information>

me> Ok, as a policy of this house hold we do not accept cold calls. They are unprofessional and rude. Could you please remove my name and number from this database and never call again. Thankyou

Needless to say the amount of calls we get has substantially dropped. And if you get indians ringing you about awesome telecommunication bargins then add "If I recieve another call from you or anyone from your organisation I will be reporting you to the telecommunciations ombudsman".

works every time, and keeps them away in the future. =D
 
My perfect way of getting rid of telemarketers?

As they start with their ranting, I abruptly cut in and yell:

"Oh you're from one of those crap survey companies aren't you?! What a shit job this would be!"

And they're usually so embarrassed/surprised they hang up. Except for the one guy who was like (weird accent) "Excuse me, can you please define the word crap?"
 
Some people really don't understand how to take a joke. It's simple. Laugh. It's not always so important to "be right" and uptight. For fucks sake, let loose.

And people... listen to what nick says... he's a wise man. Seriously though, I've always got a laugh out of telemarketer jokes, but to be honest. I really don't think anyone needs to be rude to them. It's not like they're blowing up countries or something to that degree.

My friend's mum did a few months working on toll booths while she waited for her husband to work out his retirement plan. One day a mother came through with her daughter who was whinging about having to go to school. The mother looked over at my friend's mum and said to her daughter:

"If you don't go to school, you'll end up with a job like this woman here."

My friend's mum has a university degree and has worked in several executive positions. She happened to enjoy the booth work she was doing at that time... except for when she had to deal with rude, judgemental fuckwits like that.

Moral of the story... you don't know anything about the person you are abusing.... show a little respect and common decency.

So Top Gun is on TV again this Saturday.

Is there anyone in the country who hasn't seen this movie yet? Is there anyone in this country who wants to watch it again?

This fucking movie has got to have been on TV like 3 times a year since it first was far enough away from its video release to be played on TV. For fucks sake! STOP PUTTING TOP GUN ON FUCKING TV!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sometimes I wonder whether TV executives are actually human beings as well. If there was an alien invasion taking place TV executives get my paranoia vote for being the ones behind it.

And it's over, and they fucking land, and Iceman's been trying to get Maverick the entire time, and finally, he's got him, all right? And what is the last fucking line that they have together? They're all hugging and kissing and happy with each other, and Ice comes up to Maverick, and he says, "Man, you can ride my tail, anytime!" And what does Maverick say? "You can ride mine!" Swordfight! Swordfight! Fuckin' A, man!

This is bullshit.

It's 5:15pm Friday afternoon and I'm just unwinding down from work and just as I'm about to pack up my shit, my boss says:

"So you guys coming in over the weekend"
I say I can come in for a few hours tomorrow.
"I need you to do a full day" he says.

With 15mins left in the week, he tells me now I have to work on the weekend.

Sorry mister, but I have shit I've got to do. It doesn't matter if that shit includes drugs and alcohol, its the fact that you gave me 15mins warning that the weekend isn't completley mine.

I'm not going to turn up. See how he likes that.

I'm noticing a distinct lack of alcoholic beverages in my fridge. This is a shite, shite state of affairs indeed. Debauchery will still reign supreme..
 
In regards to BBG's comments about Big Companies being the devil, ALOT of people think that. I noticed it mainly in the movie "Supersize Me". However what people don't understand is a Fortune 500 Company for example employs 100,000 people. We abuse the company for all this money that there making, however large companies like Mc Donalds, Hungry Jacks, K-Mart, even Mars "DO" infact put money back into the Communities, for example Kids' sports events, fundraisers etc. These companies are a Buisness. That's the key word "BUSINESS" They were formed to make money, and that's what there doing. We don't abuse a car because it's driving, and why? Because It was designed to be driven. If the example company shuts' down, 100,000 people lose there job, then we get angry that they've all been fired, yet we were the ones that abused them for making too much money???

That's my rant, I'm sorry for taking up your time :P lol...

when this scenario occurs, yeah, people get pissed and so they should, because the loss of jobs usually represents downsizing in the name of profit-boosting . . .

and no company should be ignored or excused for doing that . . .
