I'm the same. I've IV'D H/morphine/oxy, meth, Dexamphetamine, coke & a few novelties like ketamine & 2c-i.

I've had gram+ a day of top quality beige heroin habits & I've NEVER shared equipment and I've been as sick(WD) along with the worst of em. I don't understand how people can get careless enough to knowingly infect themselves :-/

I've also used benzos heavily for years but when on a meth run I NEED them or I become worried about everything! So I've caused myself considerate eventual anguish by constantly relying on them coz when I don't have them the thought of admitting to a psych ward becomes a real possibility coz suicide becomes more than ideation.

I know we have much better and easier ways to get clean needles now but 10+ years ago ppl weren't so lucky.

You would have to go further back than that cos I'm pretty sure 20 years ago we were getting them free at the exchanges, and for a few dollars could buy a '1ml sharps kit' which consisted of water, needles x 5 from shattered memory, alc wipes/swabs, a few filters (cigarette butts) and a sharps container. Those kits are probably the same today - someone would have to chime in here cos it's been close to 10 years since I bought one. Don't get me wrong in all this, I'm not innocent, I have re-used my own needles before, flushed them with boiling water but that guarantees nothing. I'm just lucky I didn't end up with the myriad of health issues one can catch with poor needle behaviour, others may not be so lucky. My wife used to head up, as a nurse, the cardiac ward in a hospital that specialises in cardio/thoracic's and she cared for many IV drug users who were having their valves replaced mostly because they would re-use their old needles. Take care people.
 
I learned from my days as a opiate addict that you should always try and use clean new needles, I ended up in hospital 1 time because I used a needle that had been under my bed for god knows how long... I still occassionaly use used needles from myself... I rarely use anymore so only time I do it is if I don't have a pipe or freshies if I felt like a hit
 
I have a question to ask that I should know the answer to... If a group of healthy males all proven to not have any blood-borne viruses, would well kept needles which are still shared spread the diseases? Is it created through the combination of blood or do you have to have it. I've IM'd Ketamine a few times now and although I never share needles, i've wandered of it is dangerous as at all if you're all clean and needles are sterilizer often.

How would you establish this? One cannot truly validly confirm someone "infection free", but rather can test for specific diseases. However, there is a window between infection and when one has detectable antibodies (most of these tests are for specific antibodies formed in response to the disease in question) where one will test negative despite being positive. Besides, it's best practice not to reuse needles at all, even when you're not sharing them.

I must document this mistake I made last night. Hopefully it will stop someone else falling for or doing the worst thing you can do in a drug deal.

Mate gets on through his guy and we smoke it and know straight away that it's been reformed. 30% of the rocks were clear and tasting nice. anyway I had a little bit of money so I thought we are down this way I will catch up with a friend (I thought anyway) that I meet in jail.

He could get what we were after same price so I decided to get some of this mate of mine I meet in jail.
We meet up and he jumps in the car and gives us 2p to try. Was nice gear what we were after.. so I said yeah we will grab it.

He and I drove to go pick up the gear which he said was just 5mins away. It was! NOW THIS IS WHEN I MADE THE FOOLISH MISTAKE I KNOW BETTER NOT TO DO.

I trusted this guy we had shared a cell in jail and were good mates in there, We pull into a driveway (which at that exact time I was thinking this is the place.)

So I hand him the cash, he counts it in front of me all good so far.. then he says to me wait at the corner when he goes in he will only be 2 seconds. Before I know it. I wondering why he drove outta where we had parked (some randoms driveway i guess) anyway.
10 minutes had gone past and I thought now is the time to see if my foolish mistake in handing him cash without drugs in front of me.

I called him and when it didn't ring my heart sunk. I knew then I had been made a fool of!

The stuff me and mate had from his guy ended up to have legs on it, I mean steroid bulging muscle thighs with massive bulging calfs.

I mean, yeah, theoretically if no one has any blood borne viruses, then sharing injecting equipment isn't going to pass on blood borne viruses. You have to have one before you can give it to anyone. But, as the above poster says, there are things like window periods to consider (where you may be infectious but not detectable on a test). Even more soberingly, we've only known what hep C IS since '89. A lot of people have it who contracted it before we had a test for it.
 
So, where would one go who wanted to talk about shadow people. Maybe even share a strange Shadow People story? One that involved 3 of 4 people (the 4th had taken a 5 hour nap beforehand) seeing the exact same damn shadow people.

I cleaned up this thread. People need to treat each other with a bit more respect on here, the exchange in this thread was getting ridiculous.

Lets keep this thread on track from here on out, it is for the discussion of methamphetamine, harm reduction oriented questions around its use and tips on how to use meth more safely.

This thread is not for squabbles, personal insults, or general bitching about the state of AusDD. If anybody has any productive suggestions about how the forum can improve, here is the appropriate thread.
 
I read something on tweaked nation the other day about using 'safe smoking techniques to protect your mouth and teeth'. It didn't elaborate anymore than that.
What's the go there? Does the way you twirl a pipe have any effect? Or is it just refering to regular oral hygiene on binges?
