NEMD Metal Up Your Ass! The MetalHeads Thread v.VIVIVI

Meshuggah's Destroy Erase Improve has been a recent favourite, and also been getting into Sepultura's earlier stuff, like pre Beneath the Remains. I've been noticing a lot of Sepultura influence in Meshuggah's work.

Oh yeah, DEI is classic, it was my intro to Meshuggah. Everything they do is incredible.

Sepultura's early stuff is also great but I never really thought it might have influenced Meshuggah, though maybe it did.

Actually, i meant that i thought the early meshuggah stuff (like contractions collapse) sounds influenced by sepultura, combining the thrash/death of their earlier work with the groove-metal of their later stuff, but obviously not derivative, just something i noticed, because i could never really pinpoint any possible influences that meshuggah might have had until i noticed that.

And tonight it's Death's The Sound Of Perseverance

fuck yeah, what a epic album. i love all death's stuff actually, it's the only group of which i have almost all the albums. it's incredible how much they changed album by album but still they managed to make always great great music.
rip chuck :( who know what genius stuff he could've done....

(sorry for the double post, the edit function isn't working atm on my fucking stupid browser)

OK, enough is enough! I've seen pages of old, out-dated, and quite frankly, metal that doesn't just quite cut it!

It's time you opened your ears and let wash over you an eargasm of real thrash metal.

Beneath Dead Waves - I'd describe them as a cross between Tool, Sylosis, and Slipknot. The album that this track is taken from is seeeeriously fuckin' awesome. I cannot stress enough to any real metal head that you need to get hold of it!! Go on! NOW!!!

Thanks man, really happy to hear you're enjoying our music! :)

Right this moment I'm blasting Voivod's "Killing Technology" album. Gotten back into Thrash recently, after years without any, particularly the strange/proggy side as I'm a weirdo nerd. Some more recent favorites have been Wolvhammer ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1YRLeFJeDI ) & Atriarch ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6uo3JYW9_Gw ), Black Metal & Doom just go together perfectly- of course they're also my favorite styles to begin with (especially Sludge and, shockingly, Stoner-Doom, and the more atmospheric, expansive side of Black Metal, particularly the classics and more recent bands in the Wolves In the Throne Room style or highly experimental ones). Oranssi Pazuzu is a really cool band who merge Psychedelia & Art Rock (among other styles) into Black Metal, great stuff ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSu7Oqhi-6g )!
