I went to g/k 2004, was an awesome night! that was a few years ago tho when events were A LOT better than now imo. I dont think this one will be nearly as good. Could still be an okay night though.. Theres a couple good dj's but not really worth it

I think in the last couple of years especially at two tribes and Gods it has commercialised dramatically in the sense that house music (although I enjoy it and listen to it regularly) has become a major part of raves. The way I see it the whole idea of going to a rave was to see something different. I noticed at TT this year that Rod Laver arena had dedicated its whole night to house and electro. Seeing girls wearing mini skirts and high heels that you would expect to see in the line-up of Boutique is not RAVE to me. Its sad to see it all changing but I suppose thats the way things go.

When i went to g/k a few years ago i saw ONE girl wearing heals and all i thought was poor girl! how sore her feet must be. Now its the norm. I dont understand.

Totally. It's sad when you begin to feel alienated for wearing arm candy, wearing phatties ect, by all these people that look like they are dressed up to go out on the town. They don't seem to grasp the RAVE concept. It's not about looking hot or how much coke you can have in a night. It's about being one with the music, leaving your ego at the door and rocking out!!! 2004 was the best year of dance festivals I have been to. Gods and Kryal castle that year were awesome.

the line up certainly isnt anything to get excited about (imo). I for one wont be going unless the line up improoves dramatically..

one would think GK would try to commpete with all the other events that are getting larger but i guess theres only so many times a dj can do a circuit and not have people get bored of him...

and if TIESTO was on the list?? Id be there front and centre cause Tiestos the god of djing :D

you might be surprised - above and beyond are usually very crowd-pleasing, tho if trance isn't your thing then it will probably be boring. if you are into trance, i'd personally recommend their live performances above tiesto's - though i've only seen him once i was really disappointed with his track selection, so much filler interspersed with his more mainstream popular songs (the ones with no tune) whereas a&b have always been quality throughout when i've seen them

coming over from adelaide for this as well as park life. you guys can complain all that you want, but events of this scale just dont happen here anymore so bring it on i say. Great nights are there to be had if you want them hard enough!!

We do get the occassional "world renowned" dj. but the sound, lighting and effort put in compared to big melb events is nowhere near.

Sounds like a lot of you guys have had too much of a good thing for too long and are taking it all for granted. If only u knew...

Im always open to new music and djs and not everyone can be great everytime they play i guess. dj's are only human like me and you

GK is a good event (well they try to make it that) like every event, if theres music there that suits your style. I guess for a lot of people who go to rave after rave and event after event they kind of get sick of seeing the same line up or a line up with lil or no variounce (sp?).

i get the feeling i have different taste to what you might call the "main-stream" aussie raver type - i'm more into euphoric hooks and vocals than pumping bass, but i totally wish i was in the country to see a&b

but andy moore is playing here on the 25th so that should be f*cking awesome

Cosmic Gate is old, and over-rated... shitful at best. 80% of the lineup is local and/or unknown

I will second that Cosmic Gate are absolute putrid trash.

BUT

I recently heard their new album, and i was pleasantly surprised and shocked to hear that it was very trancey and very proggy and well produced (unlike their prior hard trance audible puke), I was almost convinced it was a complete other artist.

I wouldnt mind seeing Above and Beyond, but I don't see myself attending godskitchen, I just don't like big parties anymore it attracts too many muzzas and n00bs and junkies.
