I presume so... I'm not sure if bud is antiseptic enough to have the preservative properties of bittering hops, you you'd probably have to go half and half, like subsituting the secondary aroma hopping for bud

I love a wide variety of good beer, but I cannot believe that the taste of weed in beer would be pleasant.

why on earth not? It smells wonderful, and if done properly wouldn't have that burntish taste that cooking often gives

I once read that grafting was indeed possible with the aim of narcoticizing the hops to smoke the leaf. At least that seemed the focus of the experiment. In the end the author said it would probably be a waste of time due to the insignificance of the hop flower and the volume of leaf that would need to be consumed for a bud-like buzz. Didn't seem to dawn on anyone back then that just maybe you could use the altered hops to brew beer with instead :0. It was more about being able to grow a plant that would get you stoned like weed without it looking like weed.

i put about a quarter gram of kief, maybe a little less in 2 or 3 shots worth of 40 percent whisky
i was wondering if i should increase any amount of either substance
i was thinking maybe add 2 more shots worth to dissolve any leftover thc
ive let it sit for over a week now, and was wondering if this will be a good concauction by the next month or two
the kief is a good blonde batch, not the potentest or stoniest but a real nice batch of good kief

Ive heard of this being called "Green Dragon" and when we tried it with whiskey it didnt work too well. Smelled like the absolute worst shit you could ever dream of too. I suggest just smoking your kief and getting a good high that way.

exactly. get 190 proof (95% grain alcohol) if you can. it's not going to work well, if at all using 40% whiskey. you might as well kiss that quarter gram of keif goodbye.

green dragon from moldy weed?

hey all,

i have a quick question, hopefully it hasnt been asked yet, i tried the search engine but was unsuccessful.

i have an ounce of good bud from a friends harvest last year. it has started to mold and could be used for smoking but probably wouldnt be that great. my question is, would making green dragon (probably outta vodka) with this weed be alright? i always assumed that alcohol kills mold and this process would be fine, but if any of yous out there have experience/knowledge/ideas on this id love to hear em.

I know it sucks, I've lost a good amount of weed to mold. You can't safely cook with it or smoke it.

if you're gunna do it anyway, cause you probably will, make sure you use something like everclear, 95% or higher alcohol.

i think you can cook with moldy pot, you can also do solvent extractions because the mold is killed by cooking or solvents like alcohol and butane. i would not say it is entirely garbage.... the active parts are still there and intact.

I would make it from high proof ethanol and filter repeatedly. Maybe even let the finished product sit for a while to see if any mold grows. That still doesn't mean that you won't get sick though, but I wouldn't throw away an ounce.

In this case, I would use 99% isopropyl alcohol and extract hash oil. Then I would cook with the hash oil and make brownies or cookies. That's the safest bet imo.

I've lost an ounce of perfect dubs to molds recently. I have made a DAMN LOT of research and I came to the conclusion that there is just no safe way to smoke moldy weed. Even extraction or making hash migh carry on the toxic spores (even 100% isopropyl alcohol isnt very effective at killing spores and fungus)

[BHo]won't get rid of all the mould. The only thing to do with mouldy bud is to throw it out.

We worked out a consensus that it would still be tainted even after a BHO or alcohol extraction.

we are talking microscopic particles here. it only takes a very minute amount to cause a bacterial infection in your lungs.

you cant simply scrape off the mould that forms on cannabis. just because it is on ganja doesnt mean its safe.
it could be any multitude of fungal species.
spores are in the air.
take a moist piece of peel, exposed to the air, and place it in a container with ganja for TOO LONG and the fungus will start to grow.

smoke that shit, and its just common sense that a vast majority will be carried either -

A= through the smoke drawing through infected plant material (in a joint) and pulling spores with it from the unburned bits of the joint
or
B= through the airflow which would draw in spores from underneath or to the side of burning bud in a pipe or bong.

Yeah, it's mold and not healthy to smoke. I wouldn't even think about ingesting that...

Orange peels cause mold, btw. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

Mold is the one true weed killer besides flame. It's as good as gone, the risks of smoking mold, just the small chance... not worth however much you paid. It would be regrettable to sell moldy bud to a friend of yours. You can't even cook or iso wash that shit, it's gone.

Do what you want with it. For the sake of harm reduction, I'd advise against it, but you probably will anyway.

^ that's one of the better suggestions I have heard... however, I know boiling water is a method of weed control, as in, boiling water kills plants.

Also, it's very probable that boiling water could evaporate the THC (not that any would stay in water -- not a fatty substance for THC to bind to).

I was thinking of boiling in addition to a high-proof alcohol, in whatever order/mixture necessary (admittedly I only put 10 seconds of thought into it). The idea being that combining the two methods will be considerably "safer" than alcohol alone. (We don't know if its safe at all, but it has a better chance of being safe this way.) I dunno if the OP wants to set up a still in his backyard though.

^ The ISO method involves boiling the 99% alcohol with the herb, FYI.



EDIT: To be more clear:

1. 99% ISO + HERB mix for 2 minutes
2. Coffee filter/strain the mix
3. Boil the strained alcohol for several hours at 170 degrees F
4. Evaporate remaining ISO
5. Scrap hash oil

THEN

6. Cook with hash oil (at 320+degrees F) and make brownies/cookies.

If you have a pressure cooker, employ it.

I believe that would be the only remotely safe option to destroy mold/fungus, and the spores, as thoroughly as possible. Then make an extract of some sort out of it.


Even then, I'd stick with throwing it out. The wrong type of mold can be very, VERY bad. And it's not always the mold you're worried about . . .sometimes it's the substances they secrete, so you'd still have that toxin all throughout the buds. Food for thought.

I tried soaking some weed in Bacardi 151 (75.5% alcohol). It soaked for 6 weeks. There was an effect so it worked somewhat but if you go the alcohol route you should get near pure like Everclear or something.

Cannabinoids are also fat soluble and I believe more soluble than with alcohol. I haven't tried it yet, but using butter or a natural oil like olive oil or coconut oil might give better results.
