[MEGA] Healthier "alternative"/homemade smoking devices

interesting.. how about some kind of pipe that projects a laser beam upwards so you can see the beam in the smoke? :P


years ago when laser pointers were the new OMG LASERS NEW THING, i got one on a lark and we used to use while smoking hash.. just burn the hash in a bottle, when the laser can no longer penetrate the smoke to the other side, you've got a full one brewed :)
 
As far as i know laser pointers don't actually project lasers; its instead focused ultra bright light i believe

LASERs don't project LASERs as the LASER is actually the deviece that generates the light. The light is special coherent laser generated light

A LASER light that projected LASERS would be like a gun that shot other guns.

LASERs do generate radation. In the case of the red laser pointer it is red radation (since that is all light is). This red light is not harmful unless you do something stupid like shine it in your eye for a long time.
 
nice grenade... I wouldn't use a laser pointer, just because that's a waste of money and whether or not it's lead, why would you want to use a harsh metal? I would look into a glass chillum as mentioned above, or some sorta pvc type material.

On another note.. I'm not sure where everyone got their info, maybe laser pointers aren't lasers... but LASER means light amplification by stimulated emissions of radiation, and although entirely different from nuclear radiation (decay) given time it will penetrate cells the same. I don't see how any of it is relevant for using the casing for a pipe though.

I shouldn't have been quite that blunt...but I would argue that at equivalent amplitudes, the visible light emitted from lasers has a different propensity to penetrate tissue than, say, X- or gamma rays, or alpha or beta particles...or even UV.

back on topic, you can get 2 nice glass batties/hitters from your local drugstore. just buy a pack of 2 medicine droppers and remove the rubber top.

cost~$2 and lasts a long time
 
!!!!!! Do you think using a mettal surface like a mini oven tray and a bottomless bottle work if i used a candle to heat under the weed which is on the tray and the vapour would be cought by the bottle? Thanks!

Frosted bulbs can become
"unfrosted" by throwing a decent pinch of salt inside the bulb, shaking the bulb furiously for 30 seconds (the salt will stick to the frost shit) and you pour the powder out. Done WALAH
 
I got lazy of reading all these.. but i'm surprised no one mentioned Sobe Bottle Gravity Bong Hits..

Go to your local head shop and buy a $7 Stem.. Take a sobe bottle (use these because of the thick glass won't shatter) and break a small hole in the bottem, then put the stem in a whole in the the lid. Fill the the Sobe Bottle with water, light the Bunk, and let the water drain out the bottem, the pressure/ vaccum created will suck the smoke into the bottle... Drain all the water, then unscrew the lid, use the hole in the bottem as a carb.. TAKE THE HIT.. I do this on weekends to get Tore up before a night of drinking..

I don't recommend doing these during the week (if you go to college like I do) becuase you get toasted and makes things very difficult to concentrate on.

i thought i read somewhere that Reynolds wrap foil doesnt have any coating on it or release fumes.

and about a hooka.,...most people use foil to keep the coals ontop, not touching the weed...so what about that?

Nevermind, got a light bulb finally, almost too late now.

Anyway some people say you should hold it 1-2" away and just wait for a mist.

Well, I hold forever at a length away and nothing happens.

I hold it closer and try to keep it far enough there's not much black crap on the bottom but there still ends up being a little bit. I wait awhile, and I get like a rising line of vapor/burning marijuana that eventually turns the bulb. But it's like cloudy instead of misty so I think I'm burning plant matter too.

Also it seems like hotter smoke/harder to hit and keep in your lungs, although not harsh. Should I be waiting with the lightbulb in my hand for a second for the smoke to cool a bit (but I think a tiny bit of vapor I can't see is escaping when I hold it).

And keeping it covered and then just hitting it with a large tube (pensize or a tiny bit bigger) is better than doing the two hole thing in the top and sucking on it/whatever.

Anyway, tips on using it better?

Also the smell is both less noticeable, and a different smell?

I've tried bowls with a little filter/dry paper and crap stuffed partway tube, but I can't blow my smoke out because there is none, and the only part that smells is the little bit of smoke that escapes from me trying to hit the lightbulb.

Also is crappy weed still worse or better when smoking out of a lightbulb?

Does hitting a lightbulb slowly as opposed to just sucking up all the vapor in one go waste much?

Also, should I leave it in until brown or fully black? If I exhale a little/tiny bit of vapor/smoke, am I doing it wrong?

Can I crush the black pieces and remove all the ash, but leave the resinated/spent buds in there as sort of 'coals' to get the new buds to light quicker?
 
But seriously, I cough like a motherfucker with this thing?

Am I letting it fill with too much smoke? Leaving the bud in after the THC is gone or something?

Also, if you clean off the bottom a bit, is it possible to get 'resin hits' from a lightbulb?

Also, the vaporizer smoke doesn't smell much at all, correct? And does crappier/smellier weed smell worse out of a lightbulb than dank shit (esp. since you need a bit more)?

I thought it smelled before, put perhaps its the smell on my fingers and the bulb (gotta stuff it with a towel to keep the fumes out, and stash it quick afterwards), and I'm being paranoid?

I went out and smoked a J, but I threw the roach (minus paper) into the vape and got 2 hits or so, it's shitty stuff and took forever to start misting though, and it's so dark it's hard to tell whether it's half brown or completely brown or what... =/

And I swear everytime I smoke the fucking janitors come into the room across the hall and start slamming doors... it's the same one who saw me just come in after smoking outside, but I smoked a cigarette (not much, just like half or less), so I wouldn't smell/sober up looking a bit.

i have researched tripple cs... and i did recently.... ive been doin them for a while... not habitually, but its like my once a month MAYBE type thing.... but anyway, people USUALLY say they're a bad tripp, it just sounded to me like they couldnt handle being so high.... i dunno, i dont do 16 or more often... ive only done 32 once, 24 once, and 16 a couple of times, and THAT is too much... way too much... especially while drinkin... i realize this is a harm reduction board, and thats my 2 cents, it could help reduce harm, hopefully... probably not the right thread, but im not gonna start a tripple c thread or bring up an old one if people have got the message already

You don't understand, Coricidin contains CPM which can kill you and has killed quite a few people. Seriously, stop being stupid and just drink liquid if you have to do DXM.
