[MEGA] Every Year's Community Growing advice, tips, tricks, & experiences

I use a blue spectrum ~64,000k T5 bulb for vegetation; it's cheap and stays cool. If you want to use the same for flower, switch it up to the red spectrum bulbs ~27,000k. They should work, but as already stated you will get a much smaller yield without HPS. An advantage to using flor/cfl instead of HPS, is HEAT; you won't have nearly as much.

Yep, I am going to take a wild guess and say it looks like a typical nitrogen deficiency. Definitely a deficiency of some sort though.

N def starts in the lower leaves because the plant prioritizes the new growth to keep chlorophyll, and moves chlorophyll from older growth to support the new growth. im gonna say its not N def.

Good point. Although, it looks like an advanced deficiency and not the beginnings of a deficiency which usually show up in the older leaves.

@prelude: How do the lower leaves look (have any changed color died off?)?

except all the lower growth looks lush and healthy...

The bottom of the plant is green , nice , lush, its just the tops that started to yellow , which was weird to me cause it should start from the bottom, so I figured it was just temps., no crumpling, drying, or dying of lower leaves. SD and my 1 PK are showing that sign, My kush is still Dark Green, my northern Lights is a brighter green, and those are just straight yellow. lol
My purple kush is also VERY bushy and short, very lush and green on the lower leaves, but the top is straight yellow, maybe more flowering nutes?? Been Using tiger bloom with some micro nutrients added.

Everything has started to flowers, seeing lots of pistils, still not too much smell, think the carbon filter is working well, guess we will know in a month, lol.

Ill try to take pics, but my new phones camera isnt much better than the old one. unless we should wait for better higher quality pics tmrw.

-edit-
Sorry took so long to reply, didnt know I took so long, but then again I had 3 brownies last night so, I was probably sleeping for a while when I past out around 5 am. lol.

Why can't you grow outside? I would wait a couple of months and grow outdoors, depending on where you live. You can start them indoors if you want, so you'll end up with monsters.

it's not an either/or type of situation ;) thanks for the info everyone!

Prelude: You should definitely get the latest Cervantes book. Not sure what it might be. He puts out "bibles" that are very good. It will most likely have detailed answers as to what is happening with your plants.

I think you're having ph issues, probably way too high. Looks like a massive zinc deficiency.

box is done now, thanks fuck for that!! twin inlet vent through a 85 watt centri-fan. coming up to the carbon filter, two nice 400watters on top, both HPS and MH.. nows the question, heat..... its gona kill me, my mates got up to 42 degrees Celcius yesterday..... this is not only rough on the plants but dangerous for the house..... coolers/aircons anyone?? low output for say 4 meters cubed.

also, am i able to post up pictures later on in the process. i have seen other put pictures on here, do i like not label em as mine or something??

love you guys :)

Jorge Cervantes is the last person you want to get growing info from imo. I had one of his books from when I was starting out and I now realise just how bad his growing advice is.

Seriously, some of his advice is borderline retarded. He's got a bad rep amongst commercial growers for being very ignorant. Unfortunately people on the american forums often say 'Jorge Cervantes says to do this' when they give advice as if he's some authority on the subject. In other British forums the way people perceive him is quite different.

If you want a good grow guide, Jeff Ditchfield's Cannabis Cultivator is one I'd recommend. He posts regularly on UK420 and is an activist and legal expert. He recently found a loophole (well not a loophole since it's just plain legal) that allows people to bring over cannabis scripts to the UK, because of article 75 of the Schenegen agreement. You can find his book via Google.

Fluorescents are cooler like Wolfgang rightly says, because they usually use fewer watts. Watt for watt, HPS are cooler but that doesn't normally make a difference because they almost always dissipate more power than linear fluorescents or CFLs. However if you have a 150W hps it will be cooler than a 150W fluorescent. This is because HPS are more efficient, so a greater percentage of the energy input is output as light. The remaining percentage leftover is output as heat.

^^I would also think that since you can have the ballast outside of the grow it makes the plants cooler.

Check your pH prelude. Looks like it might be a sulfer deficiency.

Sulfur deficiency resembles a N deficiency, I'd think the older leaves would be more affected if it was primarily Sulfur. Zinc is one of the most common micronutrient deficiencies, often due to too high of a ph (or sometimes low ofcourse) and/or an excess of phosphorous. Saw he added a lot of bloom ferts the last time, especially in a small pot, that ec/ph was probably too much to handle for the small plant in a small pot, the soil has run out of buffering qualities, I'd simply re-pot it asap in a tried and tested mix. Bigger pots nearly always alleviate the problems I have, though in this case, since it's pretty severe and an immobile element, I'd start foliar feeding as well with a bunch of trace elements.

But yeah, check your ph as well.

I'd like to hear some of your examples of what cervantes advice is "borderline retarded". His bibles are good books for any beginning grower to read. They are not very in depth but cover basics and most ins and outs to get anyone going good. def way worse places to get grow info than a george cervantes grow bible imo.

^ one example: mixing in perlite into the soil outdoors to improve drainage (hint - use compost or manure like people have been doing for thousands of years).

another: using the supplement for humans (yes, humans, not plants), GABA on your plants will increase yield by 10-20%.

He hypes up LEDs like there's no tomorrow and he also invented a cannabis species it seems.

edit: I forgot to say, I've heard that Jorge Cervantes doesn't even write a lot of the stuff in his books anyway and that most of it is quoted/paraphrased. I'm not sure how true that is but it wouldn't surprise me.

Anyone tried growing in the General Hydroponics Amazon aeroponics system? I'm planning on buying one on Thursday. They retail for only £120 and have quite a good reputation so I've heard.

I've seen pictures of plants grown in this system at various stages and within a few months a few plants can literally fill a whole greenhouse, from one unit. They get so tall they have to be pruned back to fit.

I can't wait to try this system as I have been told the growth rates are legendary.

Apparently Nutriculture, the manufacturer did a demonstration grow with four chilli plants and they harvested 1200 chillis!

heard great things bout this aeroponics stuff, to most high tec growers i know, claim that this is the future of cannabis cultivation.. how ever with no personal experience i cant really contribute.

i actually wana grow a chilli bush in my grow box. was thinking bout veging it in the box and chucking it into the aussie climate to flower?? i like my chilli's

^ if I were you I'd just grow it outside from the start. Why mess around with an inferior environment when you can have the sun beating down on it right through both vegging and bloom? I would propagate it indoors though.

Aeroponics systems are really easy to build. Just as easy as DWC. The only reason I want a pre-made system is because I like the build quality and it's simpler than what I could do myself.

To start off with I might grow some chillis in the amazon myself (I need a load of them anyway for a project of mine) first and then progress onto a strain I intend to grow, Cream Caramel by Sweet Seeds. It's surprisingly inexpensive considering it's had such good reviews (£34.99 for 5 seeds). Here's the photo of the buds of a Creram Caramel plant:

Hey guys, Got some Micro Nutrients, Watered a little heavy , 1/4 grow big , 2/4th Tiger Bloom, and 1/4 Earth Juice Catalyst..

Was kinda curious ,I picked up Earth Juice Catalyst & Earth Juice Meta K today, was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these, and how they work?

I did add extra nitrogen with some seaweed kelp on the Sour Diesel and the Purple Kush, but they still seem to be yellowing, which is strange to me, because my Afghan Kush is doing great, my northern Lights that was healthy is very well (Very bushy, gonna take lots of clones)
My G13 is doing well,

PK and SD just seem like picky little plants.
