[MEGA] Cannabis Strain discussion thread

I suppose it varies by weed and it depends on the size, but I'm sure an estimate could be made depending on the amount. Of course I don't know what I'm talking about right now... Hell I didn't even understand your question, but I wouldn't feel right with myself if I didn't type a reply on the board while I'm stoned. Heh.

^ yeah, like if it was grown well or not, if it's a true strain etc

im curious how you've guessed it to be over 15% already

^ Liquid Snake must have been smoking some of that hypothetical 15% big Bud

dude big bud is a specific strain...u can look it up. the thc content varies depending on how it is grown, and it specific genetics, the only way to kno is to have it tested and i have NO idea how u would go about getting that done

thanks budstoke. there are variations, obviously, but i can't even find a range. and youre right the only way to test it would be to have a lab analyze it, so i guess it was like a fake question. tricked all of you. ha ha.

that was the funnyest shit! lol, i toally agree and that is the only thing i can say about this reply too.....

i don't have time to read all the pages, so i'll give you guys my input..if it was already covered i'm sorry..from what i saw most of you guys don't seem to know left from right when it comes to cannabis..

a strain is a strain, bottom line. the "name" a grower gives to a strain doesn't mean anything. i could take a white russian plant cross it with a california orange and take that plant and cross it with chronic (Serious seeds) and call it "Orange Krash" or something off the wall. then comes the interesting stuff...where the differences come in is in the phenotype. if a grower grows out 10 california orange beans, and let's say all 10 sprout. let's even go as far as to say all 10 are female (male cannabis plants don't produce buds). knowing this, there could be 10 different phenotypes depending on the stability of the genetics. stability depends on backcrossing genetics (growing, reproducing with the same plant, etc. - should have learned about this in highschool biology).

there are 2 MAIN types of cannabis. cannabis sativa and cannabis indica. the INDICA variety are the most commercial...short compared to sativas, dense, compact, rock hard buds..normally gives you a body high (couchlock) and makes you tired...short, fat leaves...etc. they're the easiest for indoor grows. sativa's tend to be very lanky and tall, have fluffy buds and an "up" high. these 'rules' aren't set in stone as every plant has different genetics and some indicas may actually have the effects of a sativa.

this can go SO in depth...i know a ton more on cannabis, cannabis types and growing, but i do not grow.

www.overgrow.com

read the FAQ there; so much information your mind will go nuts.

[Please review our guidelines; No sources]

but it's best to say never trust a dealer when he/she says they have "purple haze" or "super silver haze"...because it's more than likely not true and they themselves know nothing about the origin of the buds...if you want to KNOW what you smoke, buy seeds and grow them yourselves.

hope this helped.

northern lights...

I searched everywhere but couldn't find details on it....so can someone give me the details of a northern lights high? (all i know is that it gives u good visuals)

[edit - and yeah i've been smoking for a while....dunno i've just never come accross NL before]

anyone recognize this strain/variety?

It has an interesting very sweet near-coconut smell on initial sniffing. Subsequent sniffings reveal more of a fresh mown hay smell with anise undertones. Very similar to the garden herb "sweet woodruff".

The buds are dense and light green with much golden color.

Taste is sweet and smoothe. An unusual "thickened saliva" sensation in the mouth develops and persists.

High is rapid and initially very nervous. But quickly becomes relaxed and quite euphoric/cerebral. Very good for conversation.

Anyone have any clues what this strain/variety might be?

it sounds a bit like five-0....five-0 is a cross of hawaiian incica and northern lights #5. it is a mainly indica strain....it has a tropical hashy taste, and tastes great to the bottom of the bowl...or joint. it is a very dense light green bud, covered in golden clumps of hairs....hope i was some help...

You guys haven't a fucking clue....

"Northern Lights" is the name for weed grown in sub-arctic areas where you get 4 -- 6 months of continuous sun.

Or so I've heard.

Let me clear that up for you.
Northern lights was bred for indoor cultivation in northern and southern parts of the globe.

And to whoever asked about how to get purple strains to go purple, well
cold night time temperatures halfway through flowering will help and so will acidic PH levels of water or nutrients, for hydro that means around4.8-5.2 will help bring out colours.
Not all plants will show, but many should.

And system of a down was correct about phenotypes.
Howecer inbred strains (like nirvanas bubblegum) show more stability and less variety than
the original f1's.

Watermelon? Bubblegum?

I recently purchased a gram of some dirty weed that came in a blue baggie that made the weed look all purple and chronic. Unfortunatly upon opening the bag I made a horrible discovery. The pruple was just pink lint/string/fabricsoftner. I had no idea what it was, even after picking it off the bud and chewing on it. It definantly wasn't plant matter. The weed smelled exactly like Bubbalicious bubble gum and the dealer said it was called "watermellon". I suppose it was an exxuse to sell me a 1/2 gram of water. Has anyone ever come across dope like this? The nug was flatened so i suppose it could've made it's way across state borders... BTW I Live about 30 min north of DC.
