Marijuana and Religion

Well, I imagine that there are a variety of responses to the rape-in-heaven problem. Obviously it depends on a conception of Heaven where people have physical bodies, not just souls; that's not that common a view. It also depends on personal identity (some people believe that your soul goes to heaven, but that your consciousness and thus your identity cease at death), as a moral agent.
You might argue that the only people who go to Heaven just wouldn't rape someone; they are holistically and habitually good. Therefore, it would just be impossible for rapes to happen in heaven even if they were bad.
I can see people arguing that you don't make decisions in Heaven; you just passively experience God's glory, eternal bliss and happiness (if that was my existence I know I wouldn't bother trying to do stuff). Depending on your conception of Heaven, you might not be a distinct individual in any way; Eastern religions tend to conceive of becoming an undifferentiated part of the Godhead, and the whole thing is just one entity. I don't know, I'm not a Christian, and I imagine that there might be almost as many thoughts on the problem as there are Christians.

all im saying is I'd rather that if there is a god/being or whatever, id like to discover it/him/her in my own way, not being TOLD by someone who doesnt know shit.
I totally agree. It's always seemed very odd to me the way people perceive that there's a choice between religions, and that one of them is right; people should think independently and come to their own conclusions. To be honest, I think that following one organised religion is to shirk your epistemic responsibility.

Weed makes me think about aliens way too much and how the universe works and such. It makes me think outside the box and I could be a little retarded at times.

Honestly, cannabis has made me think more about my religion in a more positive aspect and has also helped me to understand and accept. Other compounds (2c-e for example) have also brought me to a very emotional state at where I felt very close to my savior. I have more trust in god since the use of substances than I did before I used.

I completely agree although I'm not a catholic i find many of the catholic teachings go against the bible itself and it seems like more of a cult then anything if you ask me, I'm a Baptist Christian which follows the words of the bible and teaches about love and joy it's a very nice religion and i've never been around more joyful happy and outgoing people then the people at my church I don't need to see proof of god cause the biggest part of Christianity is Faith the truth is there can't be proof of god cause that would go against the free will of humanity so all you people looking for proof your not gonna find it until its too late part of believing is having "Faith" but proof for me is this world designed perfectly to sustain us and produces all the food and materials we need naturally most people just don't know where to draw the line between coincidence and creation but above it all i find nothing more fulfilling to be part of a religion based around Love cause this world seems to be imploding with hate lately to much rape murder suffering and death its honestly divine to have the will to stand against Evil and wicked men instead of just joining them and well Christian women stay pure and have good hearts which i don't see much of in modern day women to be honest

i was atheist but cannabis gave me spiritual experiences which caused me to become interested in buddhism, hinduism, gnostic christianity and new agey type stuff.

I believe in a higher power

I've been smoking religiously (no pun intended) for years.

In my humble opinion, marijuana and certain psychedelics allow humans to experience a higher spiritual state of mind.

When I smoke, it gives me insight and makes me conscious of things that aren't right in my life, and that need change. I can definitely say that before I ever smoked weed, I had no interest in religion. I was raised by devout southern baptist parents and basically had it shoved down my throat growing up. Which in turn caused me to hate the Christian religion.

Now, I definitely believe in a higher power (not necessarily the "God" of Christianity though). When i smoke, and look around at the beautiful world we live in, I'm in awe and truly convinced that there is a higher power. Smoking makes me appreciate life and motivates me to do good.

I'm a much nicer person when I smoke, which is unfortunately about to come to an end, thanks to the state i live in and their strict policies about possession. Here it's a felony to be caught with marijuana in the amount they consider to be more than for personal use. Luckily I only got caught with a few bowls' worth, so mine's a misdemeanor.....

:\

I definitely relate to this. Marijuana can sure help with the whole sense of awe thing, that inspires spirituality in the first place.

I'm a little bit confused as to why you first cite:

Ezekiel 4:15:

Then he said unto me, Lo, I have given thee cow's dung for man's dung, and thou shalt prepare thy bread therewith.

and then go on to show images of Amanita Muscaria which is not the dung-loving psilocybe. Does the Amania Muscaria mushroom even naturally occur in the regions of the middle east in which most of the bible takes place?

alot of you are so sure there's a higher power but for some reason are positive it's not god from the bible, sounds like ur borderline Christians to me cause ur feelin his presence thats how it starts but satan will also try to convince you its not god so welcome to the spiritual war of humanity and the bible doesnt say its a sin to do drugs it just sais its a sin to have an addiction that controls your life like seriosuly some of you are more ready to worship a fat chinese guy named budha a religion that believes theres a bunch of buddhas all in different universes that arive in our element one at a time then accept the fact the fact the higher power ur all startin to see is god thats cause the enemy wants to keep you from the truth were at war i dont wanna rant so i'll jus stop and if ur wondering yes i am high thats the reason for all the spelling mistakes im honestly to lazy to bother...

praise jah!

marijuana has not really changed my view of religion, but it definitely has opened my mind to think about new things, not just what i've been taught...

I'm really not sure about religion. I grew up not in a religious fam at all. And even smoking marijuana hasn't changed my religious beliefs. I'm not saying i dont believe... I've just never gave a fck .... MJ just opened my mind and creative thinking... And what i believe is really all that matters. Although i do always question myself how its all put togeather... Owell...

Marijuana has definitely opened my mind to new and better things. I have gone down a different path because of the involvement with Marijuana, I hope its a good path, things have been going so well.

I'm not a religious person, and never have been, never been pushed into religion either, so I had it easy I guess. I don't believe in God, every known then I might think that there is a higher power, but most of the times it doesn't worry me, why have a mind if you don't change it right? ;)

Believing in something out of a book(s), bit ridiculous I'd say, ha - Moby dick, oh fuck!

Because the God described in the Judaeo Christian tradition often seems to have incompatible attributes and to behave in confusing ways.

The misconceptions about Christianity in this thread are so grossly stupid it's almost offensive. I'm sure if you ever understood the teachings of Christ, you realize it is a lot more complicated than your stupid little meme. Firstly in that what you are exaggerating is not Christianity but Catholicism. If anything posting that picture is very stupid and shows little understanding of Catholic tradtions.

Don't get me started about the mushroom shit. That is literally the stupidest rebuttal of Christianity I have ever read. A few coincidences that anyone could dream up based on random photos and medieval Catholic art? Give me a break.

Calling religions that worst thing ever is even more ignorant. No God put a gun to someones head and made them do something awful in the name of religion.

I suggest you study the teachings of Jesus and the meaning behind his death and resurrection before comparing it to previous religions and saying it 'plagiarized'.

This thread = shining example of why people see potheads as fucking idiots

P.S. I am an atheist

You're an atheist, but believe in "Jesus," the person and not the anthropomorphism... just because the facts offend you doesn't mean they aren't true, it means they offended you because you do not understand.

This reply is a shining example of why you shouldn't engage in conversation on taboo topics that you do not understand....

Jesus has more than one symbolic meaning or is an anthropomorphism for more than one object. Meaning, Jesus can be both the Amanita Muscaria and the Psilocybe - Jesus is an anthropomorphism of both mushrooms, amongst other things. Also, most of the "locations" in the Bible aren't factual - as stated previously, this is literary coding.

ok growing up as a child my family was involved with the Jehovah witnesses religion and oh boy did i read that bible from the beginning to the end a few times.. jeezz i cant express how much i hate RELIGION it self , i do not believe in Jesus or the bible , but i do believe there is a higher being who or what ? no one knows...
most Christian religions is not for/ or ok with the altered mind , they are against everything except breathing and praising god. no sex, no drugs, no tv , no modern music , no socializing with ppl out side the Christian community, this is wrong, your going to die , your going to hell .. everything is no no no.
i have not read many of the comments but the few i have are not from ppl who were raised RELIGIOUSLY, and attended church Sunday Monday Thursday and almost every fucking day of the damn week.
Now! this and all the negativity of religion is what caused me to rebel and i will never associate modern Christianity or catholicism with any drug (unless a religion that is pro altered minds) because they are AGAINST it, therefore contradicting. these religions despise ppl who use drugs.

i believe in love peace and freedom. always doing good never hurting .
i am a daily 3 to 4 times a day smoker and i believe in the altered mind freeing & relaxing it .

The drinking of wine is an intrinsic part of the Eucharist, one of the most important rites of Christianity. Therefore, I don't see how you could decide to refuse to acknowledge any relationship between Catholisicm and alcohol (which is a drug). Jesus turned water to wine, and the word "wine" appears over 200 times in the KJV. The only way you could deny the association between Christianity and alcohol is willful ignorance.

Anyway, enough mushrooms, enough booze, this is CD, cannabis or bust please.
