Macro Photography

It was just a direct flash from an SB-400. A small aperture (f/22) was used, the focus distance was around 7cm, so enough flash was selected to expose the flower and then the white walls were neglected. Nothing too special really.

Living in the city is kinda shit cose there's no insects or little creatures too take pics of.

I may go to the Bush this weekend.

^How do you get the fly too stay put?

Do you somehow have a massive zoom on your macro lense?

No, this was from about 10cm away. The flies were found feasting on some meat. I literally had time to go up and focus on them. Maybe they were distracted or just feeling lazy and fat. The flash didn't even scare them away.

Okay Saturday I'm off to the Australian bush ... me ipod, chronic and camera! ... Will hopefully come back with some dope pics :-D

Sancho, you must be using some kick ass powerful equipment to take a Macro that detailed at 10cm away! roughly how much was your setup? ... just a ballpark figure?

For any macro I take on my camera (Pentax X90) the lense must be really close to get a decent detailed shot. My camera is literally in the subjects face lol.

For now my equipment gets the job done but one day I want a sweet DSLR with a crankin macro lense.

Anyway those fly shots have amazing detail!

For the those shots I used a Nikon D40 (£225), a Nikon AF-S 55-200mm VR (£160) and a Raynox DCR-250 (£35). So in total, it cost me £420. It's the Raynox DCR-250 that made these shots possible though. It's an amazing piece of kit for £35.

Wow that's only roughly AUD$700.00!! Not bad at all for quality photos like that.

I know, it would probably cost more than that for a proper macro lens. I bought the Raynox thinking it might degrade the actual image of the pictures but it didn't.

I've only heard good things about the Raynox, I really should get one.

A couple more of mine:

Critters like that are hard to notice ;) it's the small things in life that make it awesome.

Fuck ... I lost my camera yesterday :( I set it down to wash my hands but cose I had been drinking and was light up pretty good I left it in a bathroom . I ran back like 10 mins later and it was gone ...

I had a whole heap of sweet photos on that memory card ...

Although I got a replacement just this morning and snapped a few photo's today.

I really dig the second-to-last photo there 8ft.

BTW-- how can you eat that BK shit? Just because something is edible doesn't make it food.
