Macro Photography

8ft - where do you live? So many different kinds of spiders. What is the yellow one in your hand?

I love the green/blue fuzzy moth eyes (white flower), and the teeth on that ant.

Good stuff - thanks for sharing! (That goes for everyone really.)

These pictures are AMAZING!
I have a lil Olympus Stylus that takes Nothing like these type pictures
I keep saying I want to get me a new camera and this thread has me really thinking on a new investment

Any one have any recommendations on a beginner one that is not too awfully pricey.

anyone know anything about this one?

It looks like a pretty stranded point and shoot camera ... what exactly do you want it for? ... point and shoot cameras are good for snaps of people but not really landscape or macro and there's not alot of creative control.

But the compact size makes them pretty cool!

I used to have an Pentax x90 ... it was dope and only about $300 dollars it does everything an expensive Dslr does like crazy sweet closeups, landscapes and you can adjust the shutter speed plus it has inbuilt photo editor.

Taken with Pentax x90

So as you can see it does dope closeups and also has a 26X zoom on it. I would really recommend the X90, really well priced camera that does EVERYTHING.

Thanx man! at the moment i'm in Melbourne .... most if not all of those photo's are from bugs in my garden ... I lift up bricks and logs and look hard in crack in window sills for spiders.

No one cuts the lawns at my place cose were too busy drinking :) so there's lot's of creepy crawlies in the grass.. Also it's spring time so insects and spiders are plentiful right now. But if you take the time hard you find insects/spider everywhere.

That one in my hand is an empty shell of a spider that shell was way fucking big I would never mess with a spider of that size.

I WANT to find a Red Back spider (Australian version of the Black Widow) ... they are around here ... somewhere:X and sport potentially fatal venom.

I got a Raynox 250 which is pretty much a magnifying glass clipped to the end of the lens.

Anyone else got any pics ... thread needs more pictures from people bar myself

I would like more control i guess i would like to be able to do close up pictures the way you do I like doing nature type things and animals I love doing animals but wat to be abel to take a shot of a rabbit or bird or something close up without being close up
So i guess the ability to zoom in and get a good shot like you do
I have tried I have a not to bad camera just older I got it as a gift used and it did not come with a manual but according to the online one it has some macro options and such.

wow, what a lovely background. it's a shame the spider isn't a little more in focus 'cause that has the potential for an amazing photo.

Thanks :)
Part of it is me, part of it is the lens.
Difficult to focus with it. Very old piece of glass.
I also don't have the best eyes 8)

I need to get back into macro photography, I've not touched the Raynox in months and it's been ages since I posted. This is all have recently.

Also, this our new kitten Tommy. He was really really small at the time of this pic, so it's sort of a macro.

8ft-Sativa, congrats on your new toys. Which Nikon DSLR have you gone for?

You mention that your pics seem a little blurry. Are you using manual or automatic focus on your Raynox pics? I find manual gives the best results, just rock the camera slightly back and forth to focus on the point you want. Also, use a high f number and plenty of flash.

First of all, there are some amazing photographers here! Alas, I LOVE the cat photo. 8ft, the spider looks amazing and creepy in that light. You must have an eye to catch something like that and consider it for a photograph when most people would either not notice it or ignore it. Sancho, the zipper is really awesome. It's something many people wouldn't think of yet it turned out beautiful. I could go on and on about everyones' photos.

Some of these might not count as "macro" but they're all at least very close-up and were taken with a Nikon D-100:

That one is really cool because it was taken of a stained-glass window in a church but the flash made it look all kinds of crazy. It wasn't altered in any way, not even the contrast. The window pane was a very dark color but whatever it was made of reflected the flash in such a cool way. The others were of my horse and other innocuous, random things I've come upon.

That last one is incredible, I was SURE it was photoshopped until you said that. Even after knowing it isnt, its still hard to picture it as an unaltered photo lol thats crazy.

Wow - that second photo of the horse's eye is amazing :) - I really need to buy a macro lens for my camera (NIkon D90).

Research the Raynox DCR-150 and 250. They can be found for around £40 and are unbelievable value for money.
